May 2007, Mrs Ela Farbiszewska

I booked a double room in Hotel Comercio 5 months ago. When we got there, we were told they had some problems with some of the rooms so they allocated us in Reial (both hotels belong to the same owner/company). We got a room on 4th floor - 407 and I have to say it was... more

Brilliant
Went to this hotel with my college class on the 11 nov 05 for a week. I was very nerous about going after i had read the reviews but... i must stress IGNORE THEM. I was brilliant. The location was perfect the receptionist was lovely and it was clean. However i dont think it would be appropriate to go with young children as it can get very noisy from people messing around in the hotel til bout 2am. But a big thumbs up for young people, stag weekends and people who are not miserable : )
Horrendous
This hotel was horrendous. If you want a filthy room, with continued noise all night, then this is the place for you. We arrived late on a Saturday night and the room was so noisy we asked to change. They told us this was not possible, however, eventually moved us to a sister hotel (Hotel Commercio, also pretty grim but not so bad) when we refused to stay due to the filth of the bathroom (faeces on the wall). Both hotels more resemble seedy brothels. Stay at your own peril. Not to be recommended, in fact to be avoided
Budget and good value.Good for disabled with some mobility.
We stayed in the hotel for a week.My companion being disabled and unable to use stairs. The staff went out of their way to help with re-charging scooters, arranging for breakfast to be accessed upstairs and generally seeking information that we needed.Ok the rooms are basic but very clean and the daily towel changes and tidy made all the difference to a rather wet week.... The reception staff were particularly supportive and incredibly able in their ability to switch from a range of languages. I had my reservations as I walked... more
A useful review for younger people
I visited this hotel as a tourist along with a large group of other school children. Personally I was satisfied with my stay here; the hotel was clean enough and we recieved clean towels each day. There were a few downsides though as we didn't have a fan in our room or a balcony whereas some others did. If you are a light sleeper I would recommend taking earplugs as the noise at night was unsettling! Barcelona itself though was thoroughly enjoyable. There are many amenities and hundreds of restaurants to choose from. We ate in a different... more
Location, location, location
The Roma Reial is situated in the heart of the Ramblas. After reading all the over reviews, i was feeling very apprehensive upon arrival. However when we arrivied, we found the staff to be very pleasent and helpful, the rooms were small, but very clean, we were only there for three days and the cleaners were in everyday and the towels changed once. The square is noisy at night, but by closing your patio doors it eliminates the majority of noise. So in summary if you want a cheap hotel, in a great location, then stay in the roma reial.
never again!
staff were very unfriendly, spoke little english so conversations and questions that needed to be answered were hard to understand! rooms were very basic, no soap provided, very little ventilation unless balcony doors were left open. if you plan on having a sleepless clubbing filled holiday, and dont mind were you lay your head then this is the place for you. wouldnt reccommend it to families!!!
Very basic but great location
Two friends and I had checked the reviews before booking this hotel so knew what to expect. Above all we wanted a great location but were on a budget so this hotel was perfect. If you are looking for anything more than very basic this hotel is not for you. The other guests can be very loud and the noise from the outside square is pretty much continous so remember to pack your ear plugs! Although a great location with nice places to eat and nightclubs on your door step, there are a lot of dodgy people about so you do need to keep our wits... more
Hotel From Hell !!!!
This hotel is located in Barcelonas' Red light district, where one can not cross the central plaza without been solicited or offered illegal substances and does not lend itself to a relaxing experience furthermore our group (54 persons) found the staff to be incredibly unhelpful bordering on ignorant. The meals which we had paid for in advance were both bland, tasteless and could not be recommended, leaving us no option but to dine elsewhere. The rooms were rather grothesque, cramped, poorly ventilated and lacking all hygiene... more
it was ok i supose
the roma reial wasnt exactly what expected there was building works the whole day and quite afew dodgy people wandering round the hotel. people did knock on are door alot who were univited. but it was ok so long as you were going out not the safest place to be tho. by the time i got out the shower my feet were black again from the unclean floor. good if you want a cheap holiday not got for a family one tho.
Worst hotel in the world
I am amazed when reading the comments from other guests who have stayed at this hotel (and rated it highly) - they must have made a mistake! This hotel was recommended by a website as family friendly. Nine of us stayed for one night in July 2004. The rooms were grubby, poorly ventilated (even when the paid air con was available) and in no way justified the price of £90 per room per night. We even had to go out and purchase our own soap!! The fire alarms went of at regular intervals - the staff just shrugged their shoulders... more
