This establishment was the worst...

Oct 2006, Mr R Showell

This establishment was the worst "hotel" that we have stayed in, the reception was dull, the room was filthy and the food was awful, absolutely no choice other than take it or leave it even the bread on display was moldy.
We where there for 14 nights and had to eat out. We only looked at the comments when we returned home so the management of this hotel must have known about all these faults but have done nothing to rectify them.

Sep 2006, Mrs H Dunnett

The apartments are very basic and cramped. The apartments have a hob/fridge, these were dirty as were all utensils. Our room was facing the road and the noise was terrible, every morning we were woken up by traffic/bin lorries and horns peeping.
There is no air conditioning in these apartments and they are therefore extremely uncomfortable-the fridge also generates heat and this only adds to the problem. You can’t leave your window/sliding doors open as the cockroaches get in!
The gym that is advertised is a squash court (of sorts )and 2 step boxes in the basement. We were 1/2 board and the food 90% of the time was terrible, cold and served with partially cooked frozen chips every night and morning, we ended up eating out most of the time.
The location is ok and the best bar we found was "soul to soul "which had fantastic music every night. There is a local market on a Sunday/Saturday these are good but very crowded. Shopping is ok but prices vary hugely. Overall if you haven’t booked this accommodation DONT-spend a bit more it really is worth it for the air-conditioning alone and although the cockroaches are very friendly you don’t really want to share a room with them.

Aug 2006, Mr H McGloin

The room was shabby and, on arrival, we found that the bathroom smelled badly. We believe this was because of the drains and we rectified this by using bleach purchased from the nearby supermarket.
Our main concern was however the food! Every meal was bland and very badly cooked. There was very little choice and the staff were far from helpful. When we complained we got nowhere. Manager asked what do you really want? When we stated reasonably cooked food, with variety, she just shrugged her shoulders.
Room cleaning staff were however helpful and friendly!

Aug 2006, H Bartholomew

Firstly the room was of an acceptable standard, clean and the balcony overlooked the ocean. However I was unimpressed on arrival to see a huge crack in the floor of our apartment, so walking bare foot was unsafe and as stated before out of the question! The hotel charged for a number of extras such as the use of the television, hairdryers, irons and ironing boards (all of which have always been free at every other hotel I’ve been too).
Secondly the food was horrendous, very little selection, the bread was always stale! The kitchen staff served veal 3 nights running, and half the staff didn’t even know what the dishes being served actually were! So consequently we ate out every night, and therefore wasted over £300 on food that we should not have had to eat.
And last but by no means least I was unimpressed by the staff at the Udalla park hotel, they where very unfriendly and made little attempt to speak English. I do not advise people stay at Udalla park hotel!

Jun 2005, Mrs S Wilson

This hotel was great. We had a room on the front of the hotel. Traffic wasn’t loud at all. Just shut your patio door and you can’t hear it. Room was great. Even though we were hb our room was more like an apartment with a fridge, cooker, sofa and tv etc.
The maids cleaned regularly and if you want new towels all you do is put your old ones in the bath and they will change them.
The food at the hotel was nice. New caterers are in for the start of the season and i had no complaints. Lots to choose from everyday.
The pool area was nice. For such a big hotel the pool was always quiet. Always could get a sun lounger. Pool was big and clean.
The entertainment was ok. To be honest i never really stayed in much. Peter does his best and i must say he is a great guy. We made our entertainment with the people we met.
The hotel is a very european hotel and it is not for the narrow minded brit. This hotel is geared up for everyone and i must say the entertainment was always in british when i was there as all of the other nationalities could speak perfect english.
The location of this hotel is super. Situated near the big balloon. We could make it into veronicas strip is about 15 minutes but the walk was past many other bars and restaurants too.
This hotel is by far the best hotel i have stayed in las americas. Do not be put off by bad reviews as these are very unjust. Great hotel with great staff what more could you want.

Oct 2004, Mr S Tonks

This hotel is geared up for German and Dutch tourist. It does not cater for the British tourist.
If you are in the front of the Hotel traffic noise is very loud. The bin men arrive at 2.00am to take away the rubbish from the restaurants opposite.
There is never a constant flow of hot water, 9 out 10 showers were taken in tepid water.
Food is very bland and simple. The Hotel staff speak very little English. E.G Yes. No. Hello. Goodbye. All organised entertainment is either in German or Dutch. Sun loungers. about 50% of these were broken. In your room the smell from the drains at night is very bad.

Sep 2004, K K

To begin with, all of the staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful at all times and no complaints can be made about this whatsoever. The location of the hotel is good, only 800 metre walk to the nearest beach, which is a nice beach. HOWEVER. . .
THE ROOM:
1. the floors were dirty with sand and long dark hair lying on the floor when we first walked in, even after the rooms had been apparently cleaned, the floors were still dirty,
2. the bedding was grubby, old and often had tears in it, the blankets were grubby and very old, and not all of the bedding was changed during cleaning, the same pillow cases were left on all week.
3. upon our arrival, the toilet seat in our hotel room had a large crack right through it, meaning you could not sit on it without potentially pinching your thigh in it, we had to make special demands to have it repaired - I am surprised that the hotel does not have a system for regularly maintaining their rooms.
4. the public areas, outdoor sitting & pool area were very dirty and even after the cleaning staff had been through, were not cleaned properly - (eg. cigarette buts in the umbrella stand base)
5. from 11 am onwards there was constant (often irritating) music being played from large loud speakers. This music did not stop until midnight everyday, so even if you did wish to relax in some peace & quiet, you could not until midnight.
6. the entertainment was variable, on some nights it was of quite a good quality and worth sticking around for, other days it was clearly the cheapest entertainer that they could afford to bring in.
7. the food was the worst of all. Dinner was lunch re-heated, as was often the lunch & dinner the following day. The bread & rolls at all meal times, was always stale and rock-hard. Breakfast meats were re-used too many days in row, until they took on a sour taste (gone off). Although the hotel suggested they would put on special dinners, this did not happen, it was always the same food - very British in style - red meat, over cooked salmon and over cooked vegetables, and a salad bar that was slowly drying out. Although we had paid for all-inclusive, we stopped eating at the hotel and went to other restaurants for delicious freshly cooked food.
This may only be a 3 star hotel, but I have stayed in several 1 star establishments that were much nicer, so I do not believe that claiming only to be 3 star excuses, this lack cleanliness or service. Other even cheaper accommodation exists on Tenerife, that has far higher standards than this place.
I would never visit this establishment again, nor would I recommend anyone else too, unless they are certain that the hotel’s standards have changed. It is such a shame, because the place does have potential, and the staff are so friendly.

Mar 2004, Mrs L.C Craig

AWFUL. I paid extra and up graded to another hotel! The first thing was the smell of cooking fat as soon as we entered this dark small foyer. This place is on top of shops and cafes on the main street. The place was clean but old furniture and needed painting. A small pool with white gnomes!! The room stank of cooking fat again, the balcony looked onto locals homes, and there was a crack in the tiles from one side of the apartment to the other so walking in bare feet was out! The fridge had no handle, the upstairs door was held locked with a biro pen! This area is renowned for break ins. We arrived 4pm and when asked for food was told nothing until 630pm.This was supposed to be all-inclusive! We had to stay 1 night between the smell and the noise No sleep! The only good I can say was the staff were friendly and the food was tasty if not a great choice. NEVER AGAIN! Should be2*

Mar 2004, Mrs J Rowney

Rooms were very clean and had all the facilities we needed. We booked a taxi to the aqua park, which only cost about 4 euros.
The taxi from the airport cost 20 euros, which would be cheaper than transfers. The staff in the hotel were very nice, the entertainments manager - Peter was absolutely brilliant and kept everyone going. The pool was always nice and clean. The food was good too.
All in all I thought it was very good value for money and would definitely go back there again.

Mar 2004, Mr K Martin

This hotel borders Las Americas/Los Christianos. The accommodation is clean and the living space better than average.
The food is typical Spanish hotel fair - a reasonable choice and plenty thereof. All-inclusive does not include snacks between meals, but is available from 11am - 11pm.
Pool is medium-sized but clean. A lot of effort was made by the entertainer there, Peter, to organise different activities for adults which were well taken up.
Waitng staff were attentive mostly and and ranged from polite to friendly. A good standard holiday at a reasonable price.
