Went 2nd-9th Nov, weather was 27- 31deg lovely. The hotel staff and Kuoni reps were the best. Food was average and the only reason i gave our room lower marks was because we had no balcony. The hotel is kept very clean. We did the trips to Gizza and Memphis,You must see... more

Good hotel - shame about the hidden fees. Lovely hotel, clean, great view and good location for the pyramids but be warned that they will add 24% to all costs quoted in the hotel including room rate. Thus $240 per night becomes $300 per night when you come to check out -... more

We stayed in this hotel on our way to a holiday on the Red Sea. We asked for a pyramid view and boy did we get one. There is something surreal about throwing open your bedroom curtains in the morning and seeing the pyramids which are probably less than a mile from your... more

We have just returned from 6 nights at this hotel and it came up to all our expectations. We witnessed 3 weddings & although we felt that the rooms are in need of a spruce up this is gradually being done. The food in all the restaurants is good and definitely value for... more

Certainly one of the best hotels you'll find in Cairo. The thing which sets this hotel from the rest is typically it's location. You come to this hotel to wake up with a view of the pyramids and that is exactly what you get! The hotel offers comfortable, very accommodating... more

I can't think of a bad thing about this hotel. It definitely deserves it's five star status. As soon as you see the foyer you realised that this hotel is pure class. We were on the ground floor of the hotel with a view of the excellent pool. The room was immaculate,... more

Key to a Good Room
i stayed here for 2 nites, went on a 5 day cruise up the Nile then back again for 3 nites. what a diff in the room-the first time was a large room with a spectacular view of the pyramids out my window. the next time was a view of bldgs with a small room. i found that the diff was the guide from my tour company who can make or break your room choice. he insisted on the pyramid view as he has many customers. great for tours around Giza but far away for most attractions so stayed @Sheraton Cairo for the next 2 wks. lobby had a beautiful Egyptian wedding almost everynite complete with belly dancers-filmed it all. buffets were decent & could enjoy dining sitting outsidewith a beautiful view. hotel lacks entertainment @ nite so went to other hotels. don't buy anything in hotels, go to Khalili Bazaar for a full day of bargains. make sure u pay for your camel ride up front @ Giza or u will be in for a big surprise later! also desk wouldn't allow me to keep all my gifts from Kenya & Cairo in storage til i got back which caused a dilemma & almost missed plane so i wrote a statement that they weren't responsible for lost or damaged items. Nubian res't was very different & had a room to smoke the shisha pipes. had a nice stay & met people from all over the world.
Excellent hotel as a base
Stayed for 3 days at LE Meridien Cairo as part of a package tour with Discovery Egypt. The hotel was of the standard you would expect from a main player. It was clean, well serviced and a pleasent place to stay. Staff were helpful and couteous though the hotel is large so it all seems a little impersonal at times. Great location where you can see the Pyramids whilst sitting next to the pool. A 10 minute walk to the pyramids makes it a good base if thats what you want to see. Food was fine but if you want a cheap meal try the Falafal restarant just down the road. Good fayre at an exceptionally low price. The flamingos outside the main entrance are a somewhat odd if interesting feature. Security was the best of the hotels we saw. proper physical bollards (rather than a man at a flimsy gate) and sniifer dogs for any vehicles. Certainly worth staying at.
view was spectacular
we stayed at this hotel in cairo for 3 nights. We had a great pyramid view. The hotel itself wasn't too bad, the reception area had a few gift shops, nice lounge area. The food was buffet style, it was ok, though not a great variety for breakfast - don;t axpect bacon and eggs! they don't eat bacon over there, so it was crossiants, or pancake things we had, it has ok if you had a sweet tooth! Food overall ok. Pool area was very clean and plenty of sunbeds to go around. I would definitely go there again if we stayed in cairo, but we prefer Luxor and Aswan.
Safe, clean and reasonable.
The Meridien was an oasis among poverty near the pyramids. The staff was friendly, helpful and spoke good English. The rooms were clean and spacious (dont bother w/ a pyramid view, as you are mostly out of the room during the day and it wasnt lit up at night). Restaurants were excellent with delicious food at reasonable prices. Tip of the day: Have the hotel arrange a driver to pick you up at the airport. You will essentially have an expeditor to help get your visa and safely pass through immigration and customs.
Cairo Chaos, but with a little touch of luxury!
Magnificent lobby, especially at xmas. Comfortable rooms, but no aircon in December even though it was still 74 degrees. Good interconnecting rooms for us as a family of 5. Service exemplary, but shocked that you had to pay for everything! Appreciate that we're supporting what could be described as a developing country to some, so rich in culture, but so poor in so many ways. Be prepared to pay for the loo roll in every single loo, towels are free but you have to pay to have them put on the sun bed. Great pool, especially for 3 teenage boys. Trips through Kuoni, VERY expensive. For 3 nights and 4 days total of £4,500 GBP. Breakfast cold, but good range of food. The themed restaurant, provided good selection , but certainly not cheap, not suprising as meant to be a 5 star hotel. Apologies if sound a little negative, but extremely noisy with the main road that separates the hotel from the pyramids, all through the night with constant horn tooting. Great view of pyramids though which remain incredibly awe inspiring. Don't go close to new Year as had to wait 3 hours to get into the Cairo museum and then squashed dangerously like sardines when looking at King Tut's mask. Airport check in also took 4.5 hours due to renovations, but we were warned about it. We didn't eat anywhere else apart from the hotel restaurants and the Kuoni trip meals, but all 5 of us ended up with listeria!!! SO SORRY TO END ON SUCH A NOTE!
Perfect
Just checked out from Le Meridien Pyramids, chosen instead of other hotels in the area thanks to the previous reviews. I have to confirm everything. Wonderful, friendly and speedy check in. Wonderful (really) room with a view right on the three Pyramids, lighted up until 11pm with artificial light. Italians will be glad to know that they feature 3 (three)! Italian channels (Rai Uno, Rai Due e Canale 5) which is very important for italian travellers. The room was ok, not the newest on the market (not a Four Seasons room, to be clear) but all in all it was simply perfect, expecially for the price paid for. Do not take a taxi to the pyramids and the sphinx but go walking (about 10 mins). In any case, you can hire a taxi-cab to be taken there, have it waiting for you and back for about 30 LE (5 Euro). After all this pros, the only cons was the omnipresent traffic of Cairo, even close to this resort (but it's not the fault of the hotel!). Definitely would return!
If only all hotels were like this
I stayed with my family for 3 nights in October 05. The rooms were fantastic - we didn't have a view of the pyramids, but we did have comfortable beds with clean fresh linen every day, soft fluffy clean towels, silent air conditioning and superb service. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff, the pool area was magnificent and the food fresh and didn't cause us any upsets.
Wonderful hotel
We chose this Meridien because it was A LOT less expensive than the other "nice" Western hotels, and we were not disappointed. We looked also at advises on this site. We stayed here for 6 days in a fourth-level room. The room was very nice - not fabulous luxury, but nice furnishings and very clean and big enough to stay with our two kids. We ate at felfela and mena house indian restaurant several times - it was all excellent. The staff was helpful, the building was gorgeous, and we loved the location - we went visiting everywhere from here taking black and white taxies. The draw back, is that the Hotel is situated a bit of a drive from the centre of Cairo. The hairdresser has in no way a reasonable charge. I paid 150 EL to have my haircut refresh and the girl was suppose to start at 10 am and arrived at 12 ! Overall, I'd definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again.
Great hotel - rip-off services.
This was our most recent stay at the hotel, having been a return visitor for the last 7 years. As usual, the hotel certainly tries hard in terms of the attention to detail and the genuine concern of the staff for your well being and comfort during your stay but... the hotel is being very badly let down by the services that are operating within the hotel premises, i.e. the business centre and the hairdresser etc. In no way is 45E£ for 15 minutes a reasonable charge for internet access nor 250E£ for my wife to have her hair 'put up' for dinner, plus 150E£ for my son to have a shave is absolutely astounding! The equipment is antique and certainly not up to 5* standard. I myself had a fantastic haircut in Zamalek, from a splendid barber with modern clean equipment - 30E£. This hotel needs to look seriously at its WHOLE operation, not just what it is responsible for directly!
Great Pyramid Views
My husband and I stayed two nights at this hotel September 28 & 29 and couldn't get over the views. We had a room that overlooked the pool with swim up bar and the pyramids - unbelievable. The only drawback to this is that the nightly entertainment is held poolside and is quite noisy. Staff is very friendly and the various restaurants are very good. The buffet had a great variety for breakfast, and The Med had excellent dinners. Pyramids look like they are within walking distance, but traffic outside is very heavy, so I would not recommend trying to walk. All in all, a great hotel on the outskirts of Cairo!
