This an honest review of the BAECELO LANZAROTE HOTEL, Costa Tegiuse, Lanzarote.
I picked this hotel after it was featured on the Sky Travel channel. This Hotel is not a FOUR star rating that I was given, although I would rate this hotel as a fairly good THREE star.
We travelled with Cosmos and flew with MONARCH. Over all I was satisfied with the way my wife and I were treated by the flight crew, although I would recommend booking the extra legroom seats for the three and half hour flight.
We arrived at the hotel around 1230 pm after a 20 minuet taxi ride that coat 16 euros and were greeted by the hotel staff who were very polite and explained in English the hotel and the facilities. My wife and I opted for Half Board although the hotel push for an extra 18 euros for you to go All Inclusive.
The hotel has seven (7) blocks surrounding the two main swimming pools which becomes very crowded and noisy with families and the on going games and football chants / songs put on by the entertainment staff. The sun terrace is the best place to go peace and quite. There is a snack bar that is within the pool area this again becomes very crowed with children running about as the AI selection is next to the bar.
The rooms were very clean and tidy and the maid visited every day and changed the bed sheets twice in the 7 nights we were there. At meal times we went to the hotel restaurant which put on different meals each night but also had the basics every night such as salads pasta etc, the only thing I found wrong was the meals were lukewarm saying hat you could wait for fresh cooked which the chef’s obliged no problem. Breakfast is breakfast it doesn’t matter where you are with the normal fry up for fatties and healthy options.
Over all the hotel looked worn and in desperate need of refurbishment. Costa Teguise town only needed a donkey rides and a roller coaster and it would have been Blackpool! Although saying that we did find a decent Spanish restaurant who looked after us very well.
The hotel staff were really nice although they were tested by the usual arrogant / ignorant English holiday makers who believe that where ever they go the world should conform to them, I find it an embarrassment that these people call themselves British, an example of this was one fat English woman and her four other moron family members from Manchester standing in her Manchester City football shirt shouting and swearing at the receptionist because her taxi hadn’t turned up.
I will not return to Lanzarote as I found a bit of a dump to be honest, it’s baron windy and not really a very nice place, I am a fan of the Canary Islands and found Gran Canaria & Tenerife much bette

I will keep it brief! Food good,Entertainment good, Staff good, rooms clean and cleaned on regular basis.
The staff were great but some of the guests were lacking in any manners, please and thankyou are hardly ever heard at the bar so small wonder some other people found the staff a bit short in return.
I heard of no rooms bein robbed or things goin missing while i was there- i always use the safe deposit box wherever i stay anyway.
There are activities all day for adults and children but you are left to your sunbed unless you put yourself forward. No beach or other bars around but free bus all day everyday and cheap taxis. Good hotel for family break, please dont believe the horror stories on this one.

We booked our holiday early jan and were looking forward to a good 2week break only to be disappointed on arrival. We approached the hotel from the back and our instant reaction was 'please, I hope this isn't our hotel' - it was. It looked scruffy and run down. Upon entering the building that all changed, we were welcomed by a lovely reception area and friendly smiling staff who were more than happy to help and spoke excellent english. We were situated in block 6 and a high floor as requested. Finding it wasn't easy to say the least. Luckly we landed early as at night corridors are poorly lit. Our room was nice, plenty space and clean. Apart from we found ants in bathroom every mornin, disgusting. We asked for a sea/pool view. We got that alright! Another hotel - Occidental Oasis had been dumped in front of ours, although if you looked closely and crained your neck you could see a little bit of the sea, all of 2mm. All seemed well until we opened the patio door to hear screams and shouting - we had been situated above the kids pool. Wonderful! After dumping our things we went about looking around and checking out what teguise was all about. Now bare in mind when we booked our holiday we said the following - we wanted to go the lanzarote, didnt want to pay a fortune and didn't mind notstaying in puerto del carmen so long as WE HAD ACCESS TO IT AND IT WAS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE! We were offered Costa Teguise and Playa Blanca both of which looked very nice. But we choose Teguise as recommended by the agent. We asked COULD WE WALK TO PUERTO DEL CARMEN??? Consulting her colleage they told us 50 MINS TO AN HOURS WALK!! We didn't mind this and even added WE COULD CALL IN THE BARS ON THE WAY BACK! The agent nodded and agreed!!! Does a 40min bus ride class a walking distance????
Looking around our hotel, pools were big, plenty sun loungers, and snacks on offer at the pool bar. Can I just add if you do go all incusive not evrything is included. For example you may need to pay a supplement on some snacks. Tuna sandwich is free, but bacon sandwich is a 4 euro's non-inclusive, 2.80 euros supplement to all incl.
Tennis courts, kids play area looked nice and children seemed happy.
We ventured out of our hotel, turned right to be greeted by a power station and left to find nothing but baron. Plenty rocks and rubble but not much else. We set about walking to find a bar it took us about 30/35 minutes. We found a couple of 'nothing exciting' pubs. Walk a further 30-35mins and you'll find some nicer bars. Although not many people about, I wonder why??
Food at the hotel is ok if you like fish!!! fish, fish and plenty of it!! Staff in the restaurant are very friendly and effiencient but are well over worked. Unless your all inclusive drinks can be expensive, especially at the bar in an evening. I had bacardi lime and lemonade and my boyfriend had gin and tonic it cost us 10 euros. The other bars in Teguises aren't as expensive but can be pricey. We went in Puerto del Carmen as few nights and it's much better atmosphere trendy bars and cheaper. We had been told that the last bus returning was at 12 midnight, it left at 11pm leaving us with a 25 euro taxi bill. Weren't impressed.
We never bothered with the hotel entertainment as it didnt appeal to us so can't comment.
Trips - we went on the north and south trip, and catamaran all of which are excellent value for money and well worth it. Booked through rep.
Teguise Market - don't bother, waste of money. All that is there is expensive tack, lots of lucky lucky men and the women who want to braid/ruin your hair. 18 euros to go if you book through your rep. Ridiculas!!
The beach - we were told NOT FAR FROM HOTEL! We could never find it, then someone told us. Its situated at the back of Occidental Oasis - the hotel blocking our sea view. We found it only to be disappointed - very tiny and full of litter. There is however a free bus to the nicer beach, we never got it but heard plenty of people moaning about it. Always late or never turns up. Great!!
Overall would n't recommend this hotel, unless you just want to sunbath and are happy to stay round the hotel. We were mislead and were'nt at all happy. Best thing about our hotel was 12:15 thur 3rd july - our pick up for departure time.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Barcelo but there were a few problems and issues that should be resolved - and they are not difficult to rectify. Upon entering the hotel complex you are greeted by a large and lavish reception and lobby area that certainly gives the impression of granduer. The pools are lovely and clean, though sunbeds were not always available and this was not even the summer holidays. The pool bar "Coco" was filthy. We went there once and the empty ketchup packets and salt packets collected on the floor when in it really should not be too difficult to keep clean. Aesthetically that is the only fault we could find with the hotel. The other major stumbling block was the staff. Excluding the entertainment staff- they were terrible. In the restaurant we did not see a single smile, or shred of courtesy or manners and it was incredibly disappointing. As you are not paying, they do not seem to give a damn about your custom and it left a slightly bitter taste in our mouths. Having said that we never had an issue with the food itself, there was not a wide variety but it was fine for a week. The "Atlantida" bar is past the reception and got very hot in the evenings so with the addition of some fans it would be a lot nicer - and the pool tables were 2 euros! The asme was true of the "Timanfaya" bar, which got incredibly hot and uncomfortable in the evenings also. Contrary to popular belief, the hotel is not in the middle of nowhere. It is a 10-15 minute walk from the edge of the resort and in the evenings, along the promenade, it was very pleasant and should not deter people from going into the resort centre. This hotel could be superb with a few minor changes but it does get let down and seems to be a case of: all style no substance.

We had a great time, the hotel was clean and tidy the staff were friendly but overworked, the rooms were nice (we had junior suites) the entertainment team were excellent for both the children and the adults and worked very hard during the day and even putting on great shows at night. There were a couple of problems, not enough staff behind the bars and the food was not great. There was always a good selection but lacked taste. I would recommended this hotel for famillies as my kids said this was the best holiday they have ever had and we had a relaxing time. The pools were clean but cold but this was nice when the temperature topped 100 degress some days. The hotel let itself down on minor things but generally this was a nice place to stay and was value for money.

HOLIDAY FROM HELL, DO NOT GO NEAR THIS HOTEL
Just returned from this supposedly 4*plus hotel.
Our room was robbed and WE HAD A NIGHTMARE OF A TIME, there was no broken entry, no broken doors/windows. No patio doors left open. On return to our room after a few hours sunbathing there was not a thing out of place, so we did not notice anything untoward UNTIL getting ready for dinner and discovered our jewellery missing! Hotel staff did not want to know, their attitude was very unprofessional to say the least. In my opinion it was STINKING and infuriated me as they had no empathy with your situation and had a devil may care attitude.
WE DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A SPATE OF ROBBERIES WHEN WE WERE THERE, PEOPLE STARTED TO REPORT THINGS AFTER OURSELVES AND ANOTHER COUPLE FROM TEESIDE WENT TO THE TROUBLE OF INVOLVING THE POLICE. Prior to this everyone had been thinking that they had left things at home, been complacent, couples were fighting as one would claim that they knew they had it and the other would dismiss it and say "you must have left it at home, lost it etc, This is what you were meant to think and therfore would not report it!!!
One family had their little girls clothes stolen. They searched everywhere for them then went to reception to ask if the maid had accidentally put them in to the dry cleaning and they were threatened by the hotel staff with arrest.
The pool area never got cleaned, there was debris everywhere, the food in the dining room was always cold, on a good night luke warm. the location of the hotel is a bit out of the way of anything else and a good 40 minutes walk into the town. The free bus only runs during the day to the beach and at night time you either pay up for taxi's to and from the town or you remain in the hotel. A CAPTIVE AUDIENCE.
The staircases to rooms were dirty and badly lit, Someone had cut themselves on the Monday and there was blood all over the place, it was still there on the Thursday we left.
If there is anything positive about this place, the rooms are clean and comfortable but leave them unattended at your peril.
DO NOT GO HERE, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

We have just returned from a 7 day break at this hotel and would just like to say that I would recommend this to anyone looking for a break away. The hotel in general is lovely however the only negative points I would give are the air conditioning in the room didn't work very well and I would also have to comment that the pool area should have been cleaned at night. There were cigarette ashes everywhere around the pool area so your feet got filthy when you came out of the pool. Staff are very courteous and the food is excelleny.
However this aside a great place to go, ina quiet area however there is a courtesy bus every half an hour to the town and beaches and the cost of a taxi is approx 3.50 euros. Bus costs 2.40 euro no matter where you go i.e. Arrecife or Puerto Del Carmen.

We have just returned from a 10 day holiday here... which was around 8 days too long in this place. We had read other reviews and were sure we had made a good choice. (Looking more closely, I noticed the reviews dates). Maybe we are just more choosy than those that thought it was better.
We opted to book half board and then upgrade at the hotel.... not a chance... I didn't want yet more of the same food, we found we could eat out for less than what the upgrade was... thank goodness we did.
The reception is lovely, the reception staff were also very cheery and helpful. This part of the hotel which is linked to a nice comfy bar area was always very tidy and clean. Outside was a different matter. PIGEONS! aggggggggggghhhhhh! They were EVERYWHERE! There were 3 cats in the place, but I never once saw them in the pool eating area, the pigeons had taken over.
The food choices at dinner were very poor, or maybe we are used to a higher standard, you cannot wear shorts to dinner, but its ok for pigeons to land on your table and s**t on it... helping themselves to food if you turned your back if you eat outside. Most of what was on offer for dinner was very overcooked, my kids didn't like the food at all, I just feel that the standard needs to be upped.... the evening waiting staff were very professional and friendly... oh and I hope you like fish.
Outside was scruffy, and as someone else mentioned there are corners around the pool and raised flagstones, many people stubbed their toes. Most of the sunbeds had pigeon droppings on them.
On a brighter note, anyone needing wheelchair or pushchair access has come to the right place.
The outside bar staff were on the whole pleasant and helpful, but, were VERY overworked, advising people to get food in take away cartons, as if you wanted waiter service it would take much longer.
The eating area got soaking wet, and slippery, also there was food left on the floor, which, of course, the rats with wings helped themselves to. Tables were rarely wiped and got sticky.
On a positive note, there are lots of sunbeds, and I only had to get up at 8.30 to get one round the pool area.
The pool was FREEZING, but, did warm up a degree or 2 after our 5th day, when we got more sunshine and less wind. Not many people got in the pool, unless it was mens water polo, which was VERY entertaining to watch.
The rooms were ok, I think ours had been given a lick of paint, quite recently.
On the whole the place is quite dated, the mini golf is so scruffy and damaged, the tennis court was full of rubbish and debris from trees, there was also many many half drunk water bottles all over the place.
The daytime entertainers, were brilliant and very funny, our kids (13 & 10) looked forward to joining in something.... anything! There is nothing apart from another hotel, in this area, by the way and their evening entertainment was much better.
There was a courtesy bus, which we used a few times. A taxi to the shopping centre was about 4euros and worth the journey for some nice food, I can recommend "Slow Boat" chinese restaurant, good wine selection (ones you have actually heard of) and amazing food, also service 2nd to none.
The area is nice, and the beaches were clean. I wouldn't come to this hotel again, and would only recommend it to people over 60 or pigeon fanciers. We were told the place was full, most of the year, I wonder why more havent placed reviews here????

On arrival we were impressed with the look of the hotel. But it wasn't until we reached our room that we were not very impressed.
They were very basic, had little character and were not what you would expect for a 4 star.
The pool areas and the hotel in general was very well kept and clean and the staff are very helpful.
The location of the hotel is not great, the main shops are a good walk away. But there is a free bus available to Costa Teguise and a local bus which is about 3 euro's which takes you all the way to Puerto del Carmen where there is a lot of shops and restaurants.
The food was not very pleasing the selection was poor and sometimes cold. Just to let you know if you were deciding to go all inclusive make sure you look at the list, because it doesn't include fruit juices, cocktails and many other drinks.
During our stay the weather was on/off, you can't guarantee it in March but we had a good dose of sunshine, even thou it was very cloudy some days and there was a very slight drizzle of rain.

What a great holiday. My husband and I took our two grandchildren aged 8 and 10 along with my parents. I always take my Domestos wipes with me, didn’t need them. Room and bathroom were very clean. Also complimentary soap, shampoo, etc. On third day of our holiday we decided to upgrade to all inclusive, this was 18 euros each adult and 9 euros each child per day, great value.
The hotel bus was very useful but last bus was 5.30pm, not a problem for 3 euros we had a taxi back.
Staff at reception spoke good English and were very helpful and friendly. Entertainment was good and the entertainment teams were brilliant, you must not miss the "magic box".
Activities start at about 11 am and finish around 5 pm. At this time of year there is not a full programme but the staff did involve our grandson with the adult activities due to the ages of the children in "mini club" our granddaughter was the oldest child there 8 years old. (It was the winter programme)
Pool bar was good, the only comment is when the restaurant was open for lunch 1-3 pm the pool bar charged you for food (even if you were all inclusive). At the pool bar they also stopped serving food at 5pm.
The food in the restaurant was of a very high standard, and basically you could eat as much as you wished. There was no snacky foods for kids in restaurant, but on the first evening I did ask the Head Waiter if my grandson could have sausage, and the chef very happily obliged.
The only down side for us... we only went for one week... can't wait to go back.
Excellent holiday.

The accommodation was fantastic and so was the pool area and entertainment. It was so clean and tidy.
The restaurant was really clean and tidy and so were the rooms. People of all ages would love it and there was loads to do all through the day.
The staff were really friendly and were there for your every need. There was loads of food to choose from at the fantastic buffet. In the restaurant, the staff were really organised and alert.

Just returned from a week's holiday at the Barceló. Disappointed to find the room we had been allocated had a view of...wait for it.... a brick wall!! Managed to change room the following day.
However after 2 days the room was broken into and a number of personal items including some of sentimental value were stolen. Hotel staff were uninterested, police could not speak a word of English. This put a dampener on our holiday.
Food was good however a bit repetitive. Pools good. All inclusive stopped at 11pm which I thought was a bit early.
Watch out if sunbathing around the pool, don't be near any of the trees or you will end up with bird droppings all over you.
Free bus into town centre although we never used it as there is a lovely seafront walk to use.
Flight was a nightmare there and back. I will never use Futura again. The landings were horrific, I thought the end was here. The planes are all ex big company planes and are a bit run down.
All in all had a good holiday. Rooms cleaned every day, never hovered though as some rooms had carpets as ours did. Bird droppings on balcony were there when we arrived and still there when we left.

The hotel was wonderful. I went with my mum who has to use a 3 wheel walker. The staff were very helpful, and moved us to a more suitable room, without problem. If you have mobility problems, make sure you ask for a room near a lift. We were in block 7, and it was perfect to access everything.
There isn't anything to do at the resort, outside of the hotel, but if you want a relaxing holiday, in nice surroundings, with wonderful food and drink, I would recommend it highly.
As others have said, upgrade to all inclusive when you get there, it's still 18 euros a day.

The Barcelo Lanzarote is ideal if you're looking for a relaxing family holiday.
We found the hotel very clean and efficient, the junior suites are very spacious, the food was superb in terms of quantity and quality, and there are plenty of things for the kids to do and you don't need to keep any eye on them all of the time.
The climate of Lanzarote is a big plus, hot and sunny, with a nice breeze and the occasional cloud to give you a break from the sun.
We didn't go to the beach as the pools at the Barcelo are lovely - the beach is a short bus ride away.
I would recommend the All Inclusive option, it makes the holiday very reasonable, even during the school holiday.
If you like to get out and explore there are plenty of sights to see.
We liked it so much we're going back in August (at the request of the children - they're aged 13 and 17!)
For a relaxing, all inclusive, family holiday, it's ideal.
