The friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the hotel do not make this a four star hotel (because in Austria you get this any two star hotel). In a four star hotel you do not expect food that is at best mediocre and at worst barely edible this describes dinner, breakfast was unbelievably bad.
You do not expect to go to the sauna and steam rooms and find them switched off being told if you want them on you must tell reception in the morning. Go to the bar and order a large beer you will get a small one at the price of a large one. In the bed room we had a super chamber maid but this does not excuse towels from the arc and the lack of the usual shower gels and soaps etc, not even a shower cap.
St Anton the Brigadoon of Austria, a town that only comes awake in the winter, although it will put up with the summer guests for the extra capital it raises although a lot of the bars restaurants and shops are closed. We found one that was open the Shrieder bar opposite the sports hotel, and there we were met with warmth and friendliness from both the staff and the locals that used it.
Food and drinks were good and reasonably priced, definitely made our stay mush better than it would otherwise have been.

I would recommend The Grieshof Hotel to anyone. It was very quiet. Our room was really a suite, with sitting area, sleeping area, balcony, bathroom and toilet. It was very spacious and very clean. There was an indoor swimming pool, whirlpool and sauna which were free to residents. The staff were very helpful; nothing seemed to be too much bother.
The food was in plentiful supply although some of it was not to our taste but ooh, the Wienerschnitzel and Apfelstrudel were absolutely delicious! Dinner was beautifully presented and there was always a salad buffet. Breakfast should have been ‘breakfeast’. There was a great selection of bread, rolls, meat, cheese, cereal, yogurt, fruit, juices, preserves, boiled and scrambled eggs and bacon. If there was nothing there to suit you, I can’t imagine what kind of breakfast you normally have.
There was also the option to have free packed lunches which included 2 rolls with cheese or meat, a slice of cake and an apple. A free children’s activity programme was also available to children staying at the Grieshof. It was normally €7 per day.
If I ever have the opportunity to go back to St Anton’s I would definitely want to stay at the Grieshof.
