A very pleasant atmosphere, all staff very nice communicative and competent. The hotel is very comfortable with nice pool, spa and a lot of activities. Despite is a bit far from beach, there is a very comfortable free communication with the beach and Maspalomas. Nice view but only from 2nd floor and above.

Stunningly beautiful hotel with glorious sunsets
Went to this hotel with friends on their recommendation, they went last year and enjoyed it so much booked up as soon as they returned. The hotel is very large and the lifts are a bit confusing but OK when you get used to it. The food was excellent and offered a huge variety, at peak times there was sometimes a wait for tables but this was sorted out very quickly. Best bits of the day was relaxing on the terrace outside the restaurant after breakfast and dinner, stunning sunsets. Huge bedrooms with private balcony overlooking the ocean, rooms were very well cleaned every day and linen changed very frequently. Only 5 minute walk to nearest bars and restaurants and dreaded camera shops, we learnt that if you just say 'no thanks' and keep walking they will not bother you too much, don't stop to shake their hand or you'll never get away. The nearest shopping centre was approx. 15-20 minute walk, hassled constantly by time share touts, but again say 'no thanks' and keep walking you will be fine, if you stop to chat to them you'll be there for ages. Large choice of bars and restaurants at this main centre and taxis very cheap back to the hotel. We preferred Amadores beach in the opposite direction and again approx. 15 minute walk but Puerto Rico beach OK too.
Possibly the best hotel on the Island
My wife and I along with 2 other friends visited this hotel for 2 weeks on a half board basis. Having been to the Puerto Rico / Amadores are about a dozen times in the recent past we we looking forward to staying in this hotel as we'd been on the beach at Amadores watching it being built for so long. We usually go self catering but as the euro / pound exchange was so poor we decided to go half board. Here is a wee tip for you. Book direct with the hotel over the internet and save yorself a fortune. Compared with our local independent travel agent's price we saved £750! We then just booked our flights (Globespan) and got a taxi from the airport. The hotel looks impressive from the road and the beach and once we arrived we were not disappointed. We arrived at midnight and were given complimentary champers and asked is we required something to eat. A light bite was organised for us and we were directed to the restaurant where we treated to some very nice cold meats / salad / fruits. Every room has a sea view and what a view it is! Many a night was spent on our large balcony sipping wine looking over a fantastic Amadores beach which was still bathed in sunshine until about 9ish at night. Rooms were spacious, modern, comfortable with plenty of wardrobe space. Ours had a bath and a shower, fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The complimentary robes and bottle of wine were a nice touch as well. There are two pool areas with ample beds for everyone. Fresh beach towels are provided every day from reception. Both pools have their own snack bar which are handy. The top pool is the quieter one and also has the 'nudista' area nearby. Didn't see anyone venturing up there through out our two weeks! The bottom pool is the 'infinity pool' which is possibly the best feature of the hotel. Sunbeds are comfortable and the sun catches the pool area from about 8am until well after 7pm at night. Its bliss looking out over Amadores beach / bay from the pool which is refreshingly cool on hot Gran Can days. The food at the hotel for being buffett style was good. There was a good choice at breakfast and there was changes in the main meals every evening to keep the interest there. Food quality was good as well but be warned the nicest sweets don't last long!! The restaurant also has fantastic panoramic views over the infinity pool and beach. We didn't try the a la carte restauarnt so can't comment on that. Our overall experience of the hotel was great. Nice staff, very clean, great location with good facilities. The only negative I would have about the hotel was the entertainment at night. It was pretty moderate at best and we tended to walk into Puerto Rico most nights. I was told that the Gloria Palace Royal has raised the bar in terms of standard in the area and the other hotels are now playing catch up. On our experience I can say that this is very likely.
Exceeded our expectations
Stayed at the Gloria Palace Royal for 7 nights on a First Choice package holiday. We stayed Half Board. Hotel is relatively new and is as good an hotel as we have ever stayed in on a Holiday. Champagne reception on arrival, porter takes bags to rooms etc. A really good first impression. The room has stunning views across the Atlantic and over Amadoroes Beach. Rooms were large with small Kitchenette and medium sized Bathroom. All rooms were tiled with marble and lots of storage space. The pool area was excellent with a small kids pool close by. Staff cleaned from early morning and the hotel was immaculate. Breakfast and Evening Meal was served in the panoramic restaurant that overlooks the beach. Food was plentiful and there was a good choice. Fish is devine with lots of different varieties on offer. The show bar downstairs was very luxurious however, the entertainment left a lot to be desired. The kids club was very mediocre. Yes there was colouring in and games for the kids during the day but the kids Disco at night was very sparse. However, the staff did try i guess. Downstairs Spa was very good and the gym was well enough equipped. I'm glad we were on Half Board as the Euro exchange rate left things getting a little sore towards the end of the holiday but thats no reflection on the Hotel. Would I go back for another week? Probably would but would definately recommend the hotel.
Best location in Amadores
This hotel was the Dunas, and was taken over by Gloria Palace Hotels. The location is excellent as you're less then 5 mins walk from the beach and all of the rooms have a fabulous view of the man-made beach at Amadores - its picture perfect. The rooms are a good size with a fridge, and marble bathroom, with separate bath and shower. Some of them come with a kitchenette I believe. Breakfast is well catered for with plenty to choose from. We only ate in their alacarte restaurant once but the meal was fabulous and we got great attention from the staff - even the chef came out to make sure we were happy (this might have had something to do with the fact we were the only diners as the hotel was very quiet!) The pool scene was very quiet (again because the were very few guests) but there are two great pools with plenty of seating - so no running for loungers - and a nudist area for the more free spirited!! There was night-time entertainment most nights, which was reasonable. Although we had no need for it, they also had a kids club everyday which seemed very well catered for. There is also a complementary spa under the main infinity pool - with sauna, steam and large therapy pool. There is a massage therapist, hairdresser and beautician also on site. The staff all had good english, and their guests were mostly from Holland, Scandinavia and Spain.
'Glorious Place' Gloria Palace Royale
Just returned from an absolubtly fantastic fortnights stay at the Gloria Palace Royale, Amadores (formerly the Dunas Amadores and not to be confused with the Gloria Palace Amadores). Arrived late at approximatley 11pm with two tired children to be greeted with champagne and fresh juice and a beautifully presented cold food platter consisiting of meats, king prawns, salad and bread which was taken directly to our room, which was large, spotlessly clean and overlooking Amadores beach. All of the staff at the hotel from the cleaners through to the management team were very polite and professional and nothing was ever too much trouble. Our room was cleaned every single day of our stay with fresh towels/ linen. The food was excelent and alternated each day with so much choice I still dont think that we tried everything even after two weeks! Children are well catered for with the small but enthusiastic animation team doing a brilliant job each day around the pool and in the evening at mini disco which lasts around 45 minutes. There are two pools at the Gloria Palace Royale, with the main pool been an 'infinity' pool which literally looks like it goes on for ever and is stunning, with the second pool located towards the rear of the hotel and been constructed entirely of glass which illuminates at night in a rainbow of colours. To do this hotel justice, you must visit and experience it for yourselves. In a word. Exellent.
Spectacular hotel with wonderful views of the Atlantic ocean
Just returned from a week half board at this picturesque hotel. Had a lovely holiday. Welcomed with champagne. The staff were very nice. Our room which was large with a bathroom and separate toilet was at the front of the hotel and had huge sliding doors onto a balcony. We could watch the glass bottom boats, the ferries, sailing ships and fishing boats going past. The restaurant was spacious and the food was good and plentiful and the chef cooked hot dishes every mealtime as well as the buffet. The beach at Amadores is beautiful and the Zenubia Restaurant is especially nice. Taxis to Amadores and Puerto Rico are only 2 or 3 euros or you can walk along the promenade. It is very hot. The visit to Anfi turned out to be time share, be warned. The evening entertainment is not brilliant but the downstairs seafront bar has Happy Hour (bogof) from about 4pm until midnight if you want to escape to somewhere quiet.
Lovely Hotel, Lovely Location
Myself & my partner stayed here for a holiday and found it to be a lovely hotel in a good location. Having said that, you would need a taxi ride to centre unless you like a good walk. Its literally 5 mins to Puerto Rico centre. The views from the hotel are breath taking. There is a glass lift in the hotel thats actually built into the mountain, beautiful, if your ok with heights. The freeform swimming pools are fab. There are two outdoor and and indoor. Very good facilities within the hotel also. Nightly entertainment. The only thing I found was that in high summer months, it becomes very crowded. Because its a reasonably priced hotel, I find the prople who usually would choose apartments are in fact now choosing this hotel, so it does become quite packed so bear that in mond if your looking for a quiet hotel holiday. Also bear in mind if you have young kids there is a nudist area at the side of the pool but it is well cordoned off. Overall it is a lovely hotel and I would go back, just not in high season.
Fantastic!
The hotel is fantastic! Rooms are large with large private balconies and lovely cane chairs. All have beautiful views over Amadores beach and out to sea. Room facitilites include a flat screen tele, microwave, cutlery and glasses, kettle, mini fridge and bath robes. We were B and B and breakfasts had everything you could possibly want. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Rooms are cleaned thoroughly every day. There are two pool areas. A quiet area and a busier larger pool. However this pool was relatively quiet in May. It's an infinity pool and over looks the beach. It's gorgeous! It has little jacuzzi seats in it too. Plenty of beds and shades and no reserving of beds goes on in the mornigs. There is a spa and a gym which are free of charge. Try Ciao Ciaos for lunch or dinner on Amadores beach. Fabulous food and good prices. A little more expensive is oscars on the way to Puerto Rico but it's well worth it!
Amazing View , spotless clean good food but not for prams or walkers
Rooms are fab very well equipped with kettle microwave big cosy bed and a beautiful view facing the beach . Hotel was very quiet so noise not an issue . Beautiful pool and childrens play area. Food was was really nice I stayed in the Gloria Palace around the corner and food was of better standard in the royal . Staff very nice and helpful , reception were helpful and a big thank you to the staff in the restaurant they were very kind.. The big down falls of the hotel is the lift doesnt bring you right to the bottom and you have to walk up and down a very steep hill so not wheelchair or pram friendly . Also you would have to get a taxi to center. The atmosphere in the hotel is very dead , the bar entertainment needs updating . However I really enjoyed my stay here listening to the sound of the ocean and a fabulous views was great during this recessions times
Rather isolated
The hotel itself is quite new and therefore clean and well presented. However, the whole place lacked a soul. Although service was as expected, there was no atmosphere throughout the day. The evening was very boring with a resident band singing out of date songs. Even the occasional dance show or reptile show did not relieve the boredom during the evenings. The location of this hotel in a small bay meant you were "trapped" in this small area with very little entertainment in the neighbourhood. A taxi was always needed to go anywhere. The hotel needs to provide more entertainment or guest participation to improve the enjoyment factor of staying here.
