The Agnadi Studio Apartments were clean and tidy, as they should be, and the view off the balcony over the pool to the sea and other islands was as good as hoped for. All the apartments face the same direction, so no great differences between them for the view. The only downside to the apartments was the short steep hill up from the road. The brochure does say it is not for the less mobile, and we were glad that the luggage was taken up (and collected on departure) in a small truck, and did not need to be carried.

We had a top floor apartment, which had a mezzanine upper floor with a double bed and second toilet with wash basin, with two single beds on the lower living area, along with TV, large wardrobe, kitchenette (two electric rings and sink unit in one piece, and fridge) and bathroom (shower, toilet, and wash basin). Air-conditioning was available at an extra cost of 5 euros per day, but we did not need it as it was early on in the season. The maid came every day, and sheets were changed once during the week, towels twice. If you needed any extra pillows, these were supplied within a short time of asking.

The pool was clean, and had a separate small area for young children. Being up on a hill there was a breeze blowing which kept our early season sun bathing to a minimum whilst there, although I could imagine it being most welcome at hotter times of the year. Quite a number of the tavernas and supermarkets were closed, still being prepared for the season, but the local ones down the hill would deliver for free up to the apartments, so on first call for various supplies it was a welcome relief not to have to carry groceries and water back up the hill.

I feel that anyone going there should be warned about the on-site bar. Food was freshly prepared and cooked there on the premises, but all items on the bill carried a 1-euro service charge, which was not mentioned. We went with two friends, so the cover charge for bread, which started at 0.90 euros each, ended up at 7.60 euros for the four of us. Fortunately we only ordered a main course each, but at the end, including the charge mentioned earlier, we had a total service charge of 17 euros! Needless to say that was the last time we ate there, and once the other residents found out, either by word of mouth, or pain of paying, not many ate meals there more than once.

Overall we had a lovely time there, Skiathos was all we had been told, quiet, friendly locals, some lovely beaches, plenty of tavernas serving good food and drinks. We didn’t explore much away from the main road, as we only stayed for a week, but we have left that for another time. We did not get hassled by the cafe and bar touts, a polite 'no thank you' and they left us alone, unlike Marmaris of some years ago.

One cafe we stopped at on the harbour front allowed as many refills of coffee as we wanted, last one towards the bus terminus. Sorry, I don’t have the name.
Overall a good relaxing holiday.
