Hotel Description:
The Platani Hotel is a luxury three-star, smartly renovated into “Liberty style”, situated in the quietest and most exclusive area of Rimini-Miramare, at about 90 metres from the beach and close to all that you may need in order to spend a very pleasant stay. loading...

Right on the hotel's beach is a boat stop for various boat trips up and down the coast.
There is a bus stop about a minute from the hotel from where you can take a bus to Rimini centre and more bars and shops (and an excellent market on Saturday mornings) or to Riccione, with its elegant shops.
San Marino is about half an hour away and worth a trip - the hotel does organise its own excursions.
A hundred yards away there is the Miramare - Rimini railway station, handy for getting to Rimini central or for a day trip to Ravenna, although check the train times as it is a local station and not all trains get to Ravenna and back (you can get trains to and from Ravenna at Rimini central station).
The hotel itself is modest but pleasant, and staff were helpful and friendly.
Clientele ranges from young families to pensioners, mostly Italian, and the staff arranged simple theme evenings from time to time. This is not a hotel for rowdiness or drunken yoof, and there is no disco..
There is only one small lift, which due to the many older clients, was almost always in use, and since the flights of stairs are double, staying on the fourth floor was a tour de force if you don't like lifts.
The room we had was small with a very basic balcony (shared with the next room with a divider) and a table and two plastic chairs, and a hanger for washing.
Irritatingly, there was no fridge in the room as one would have expected, but there was a safe, plenty of wardrobe space, a dressing table, side tables and it was clean. The shower/loo was small and dark (high window) but adequate.
The area was quiet at night after about midnight, and the rooms gave onto the inner court area anyway.
We had full board. The food was Italian, and there was a choice of dishes at each meal but menus were only in Italian. Helpings were decent sized. There was also a self-service salad bar at every lunch and dinner, which we enjoyed, and it was all fresh and varied. Drinks were not included but prices were low on what we consumed (wine, mineral water and Coca-Cola).
Breakfast was buffet style, continental, with cereals, marmalade, and fresh rolls or croissants and tea or coffee from a machine, which was not bad and there was plenty of it.
The hotel is very ecology minded, and we were provided with linen napkins at the start of our stay, and a paper envelope in which to place them after each meal. Personally I didn't like using a dirty napkin at each meal, but I understand the concept of not ruining the sea by excessive washing with soap powder. We were also given free samples of health products available from their small health shop next door.
Services available at an extra charge included all sorts of massages, solarium, spa therapy, facials etc but which we didn't use so am not in a position to comment.
Overall opinion was that it was very well situated, near a clean beach and loads of shops etc, and easy links to central Rimini, Riccione and other places to visit, but that it was not a luxury hotel by any means.
The clientele was mostly Italian, families and OAPs, and the in-hotel activity was geared accordingly.
On the other hand you don't spend much time in the hotel and it's in a good situation for days out and the famous discothèques in the region.
Cheap and cheerful!
