Hi!! I have just come back from Russalka (end of May – Start June 2004). When we arrived it was pouring with rain, the 2nd day the rain almost stopped the 3rd day we got sun burnt! Essentially it is a German resort. Very few speak English, which was great for us as we went with our German friends and we want to learn to speak German. Fantastic people the locals! The food is always fresh cooked and warm. Never hot!. The drinks are free from 11 am - 23:00 and if you drink it is fantastic.... Hic!
The bar staff are great if you put yourself out to try and communicate and be friendly especially the short stout one 'Yorgi' a wonder to behold, he tends to remember your drinks each time you go to the bar, and NO short measures. Anna & Emilian the entertainment duo, are brilliant and became good friends. If you have kids then they are taken care of for you with the Kindergarten hosts.
The swimming pool is very clean but as the resort is on the north side of the country the wind can whip up and sometimes be chilly. The natural volcanic pool (sometimes cause a smell) is very warm and relaxing. If the Dolphins had legs and arms (and a towel) and came in another 50 meters, THEY would be on the beach sunbathing!! They come in so close to the shore and in the bay.
Health & Safety… some barriers may not go amiss, other than that I can’t think of any thing major…
German speaking (or want to learn) 10/10, food 8/10, drink 10+/10, and all in all friendliness we give it 10+/10. Recommend a full body massage (Genuine, no hanky panky) 35 lvr (about £12.50) Brilliant!!
