Stayed at the Daniel July 2010 with my wife. First time to greece, and what a find. Although a 10 minute walk to centre of Kalamaki, this hotel is amazing, thanks to husband and wife team Augustin and Vicky. The pool and bar area are perfect and the rooms are basic and clean. I can't think of any bad points. The best local restaurant Michaelos is 5 mins walk from the hotel. Another good restaurant is Ambrosia. Two bars I would recommend are Mojito for cocktails and music and Oceanic for a quiet chilled evening where you can talk to people. Kevin will make you very welcome.

The Daniel is perfect if you want to be close enough to walk to the main strip but far enough away for peace and quiet. The accommodation is excellent but Vicki and Gus just made our holiday. They were attentive in every way, always helpful, friendly and generous and Gus is such a character. Because of them we ate at traditional Greek restaurants, visited some fabulous out of the way beaches, found sites that were not in any guide book and had a perfect holiday. Each evening most of the guests returned to the Daniel's own bar because of the friendly & fun atmosphere. Cannot wait to return.

have only been back since 5 oclock yesterday afternoon and am already trying to book again for next year, myself and my fiancee stayed with vicky and gus for two weeks from the 20th august and had an amazing time. the hotel is in a secluded area away from all the hustle and bustle of the main strip but it is the ideal location to comute from, to get to the main strip it will take you approx 5-10 minutes and it is a nice walk. once there, there are ample bars and restaurants for you to choose from best are hera(which is towards the beach) zepo's (which is on the beach front) heavens kitchen which can get very busy peak season. places to avoid restaurant Georgia as it is appauling both the food and the service or lack or it!
the hotel:
basic rooms with a standard double bed or singles with seperate bathroom, room has tv fridge (payable to hotel)double wardbrobe, vanity unit and two bed side cabinet. air conditioning is fantastic and reasonable priced. owner vicky and gus will do everything they can to make you enjoy your stay, welcome drinks on arrival and numerous drinks and snacks bought by them for us. they were the perfect hosts!
the pool is lovely and plenty big enough for all guests and there are ample sunbeds, snack bar menu is ample and the pizzas are lovely, vicky makes all the food fresh and the prices are reasonable. drinks are very reasonable and they have a wide variety to chose from esp spirits.
have only been home since 5 oclock yesterday and we are already looking to book for next year!!! people go back to this hotel yera after year.
would recommend for anyone wanting a chilled out holiday with no fuss just straight forward relaxation with wonderful friendly hosts and a perfect location to explore the island of zante.
distances:
beach 10-15 minute walk
strip 5-10 minutes
zante town 20 mins approx

First impressions of the hotel where that it was a litte out at the way which we came to love after realising it was the perfect location for a relaxing holiday. close enough to the strip but far away enough from the noisy night life, Vicky & Augustine were really really helpful and would go out of there way for you for any matter neccasary. Which made us feel so welcome. The room was spotless and the pool was great, never had such a relaxing holiday and been made to feel so welcome. will defiently be going again!

My wife and I had previously stayed at Hotel Daniel 10 years ago when Vicky`s parents ran the apartments and we had a great holiday. We decided to return to Kalimaki again this year and sought out the location in the brochure. Anyone who has visited the Greek islands will know that the people are very friendly and our hosts did not disapoint. On arrival we were warmly greeted by Vicky and Augustine who are now the proprieters. The apartments are clean well serviced and the hosts are a very warm, friendly and amenable couple. The apartments are a short stroll to the resort centre but their location means that you can have a very relaxing time. The pool and pool bar area is excellent, clean well maintained and the food well presented.I would urge anyone wanting a relaxing break in good company to give it a go. We are already planning a return for next year.

Set in a quiet location surrounded by olive trees ,its a lovely small hotel, ideal for couples to just relax by the poolside and just chill out! The pool its self was really clean no cigarette butts etc...there is a poolside bar serving drinks and snacks these did tend to be on the pricey side especially the beer , but there is no other hotel nearby to challange , anyway...still good service. The breakfast is the same every morning , ok for the first few days so i went out later for a nice cooked one (recommend you take your own cereal) not unless you like raw porridge oats. Please dont feed the cats as they do get fed by the owner, but he really needs to put up a notice to let guests know.
After a night out in Kalamaki get a taxi about 5euros as it seems like miles to walk .There is a lovely greek taverna about a 3 min walk called Michaelos the food is lovely and the waiter service is good too, the house wine is only 5 euro for a litre!!

The Daniel has been spruced up since our last stay but Viki and Augustine were as lovely and helpful as ever. The pool is so relaxing and the general situation of the hotel is quite and peaceful, just the ticket for winding down after a long year at work. Breakfast is basic. The rooms are kept really clean and if you need anythingelse just ask. I want to go again. They also have a website www.hoteldaniel.co.uk for those of you who want to see pics of the place. Small and friendly, clean, bar good value for money.

The Hotel is nice. The location is 1 mile on foot to the beach. The lady who runs it is very helpful. The breakfast is on untill 9.30 which is a shame as we like to have a lay in while on holiday. The male who is the partner we found rude and abrupt.
We found our bathroom light was not working so my partner ask for a new one. He was very snappy and told her to make sure that the patio light outside our apartment was turned off before worrying about the bathroom light. She then had to insist that he changed the light.
The following day I had the air con on and my daughter had left the patio door open he called the room and told me to shut the door or turn the air con off. I agreed. He then started to shout the same request at me. Which prompted me into telling to close his mouth. Which he did very quickly.
I observed him shout at a guest, not to feed one of the 30 or so ferrell cats that roam all over the hotel. I observed a Greek guest do the same while talking to 'Basil' and of course he said nothing.
We then decided that we would not use the bar or dinning area as I have a short fuse when it comes to ****'s like him. So he missed out on the best part of 600 euros that we spent elsewhere. I'm sure that he is aware that we pay for electric in the price of the holiday so he was trying to be a bit clever.
So we will not be staying at 'Basil Hotel' (daniel apartments) again.

Lovely hotel the couple that runs it can't do enough for you. Our room was immaculate, very clean and comfortable. Aircon was €25 for the week which was very reasonable and you definitely needed it. The pool area was very clean and the pool was quite large considering the size of the hotel, loads of sun bed as well!
The pool bar was very cheap and the service was fab. The main strip was a very pleasant 10 minute walk away - it never felt very far. The breakfast was pretty basic, just toast, eggs and fruit but in the heat I didn't want much more! Lovely, lovely hotel, cannot praise it enough.
Kalamaki was nice, just a typical Greek resort really, cheap to eat out in the evenings, lots of bars and shops.

Just got back from staying at Hotel Daniel in Kalamaki,we had the most enjoyable fortnight.
Vicky and Augustin were the most amazing hosts, nothing was 2 much trouble, they really know how to look after there guests.
We would recommend Michaelos family run restaurant which is 5 mins down the road.
If you want a relaxing holiday away from the town centre this is the one for you.
Rooms are basic but comfortable and clean.
