Reviews of Amanda Cinema Hostel, Madrid, Spain
Amanda Cinema Hostel, Madrid
Location, location, location. Cinema Hostel I (also known as Huéspedes Amanda) is literally in the heart of Madrid, amongst the hustle and bustle of Gran Vía. Only minutes from the metro station, this hostel offers a great location with comfortable rooms. If you can see beyond their supposed cinema theme, which is most evident in the movie posters and somewhat random cinema paraphernalia throughout the hostel, you´ll find the amenities quite nice and clean.

The best thing about the Amanda Cinema Hostel was its location which was just off the Gran Via, close to the Sol area. The hostel itself was very basic and consisted of a number of (small) private rooms (TV and sheets provided but no towels) and dormitories.
We had booked a private room with ensuite facilities but on arrival we found that this consisted of only a private shower and washbasin - no toilet. This meant there were only two toilets (no toilet paper, soap or towel) for all females staying in the hostel and as these were in the two public bathrooms when someone was taking a shower the toilet was inaccessible.
There was a communal kitchen area and breakfast (bread/toast, butter/jam and tea/coffee) was included in the price on a help-yourself basis. Staff were friendly and the (small) reception area had a few individual safes (1 euro each) and an internet terminal (1 euro per half hour).
