when we arrived at the hotel at 5:30 in the morning and to our horror we had to climb hundreds of steps to get to our room which had two small windows and no view. Later that morning we were moved to an apartment which was on a lower level. We knew the hotel was on a steep... more

Hi everyone i booked this holiday for myself, hubby and 2 kids (14 &11) we arrived after a very long flight to what can only be described as HELL dirty smelly apartment bathroom revolting and damp on the walls we decided to take a look around to see what the rest of the place was like we went to the dining room and have never seen anything like it absolutely filthy and health and safety would have a field day grease and grime covered the surfaces and the trolley where you got plates made me want to vomit there is also a kitten that has its food in there and has newspaper down for a toilet HYGIENE IS NOT A PRIORITY at this hotel we went to find the rep who could not speak or understand any english and just kept shrugging his shoulders there were other english who were leaving and also germans but warned us the only place that had vacancies was this hotel we decided to go back to the airport and went on stand-by for a flight home we were very lucky and got one to teeside no where near us but hey it was england - we had to pay for the flights but i would have paid any amount to get home - so we actually arrived and left turkey the same day anyone who is thinking of booking or has booked this hotel please do not go we have filed a complaint with abta about this hotel and the agent who sold us the holiday any questions please email me i will be happy to help please also look at my photos i couldnt get any more as i was stopped from taking them (speaks for itself)
dont expect a 4star hotel
hi everyone yes we did stay at the hotel and there were a few small problems which can be overcome if the managment can be bothered the hotel would be classified as a 2* not a 3* the food was very average and at times cold ok if you are staying for 1 week there is no entertainment a small games room with nothing in there the pool and slide great but there are no health and saftey rules plenty of pool side accidents but there is the most breath taking views to recupe there is shortage of tables and sunbeds the hotel owner and mangament will not give up there seats for there guest the inclusive alchol consist of 1local beer ok for a couple of days but the shop down the hill sells good imported beer cheap 1 white 1red (chilled)sometimes a rose wine ok when lemonade added and local cheap soft drinks which tasted ok hotel complex clean rooms standered if you have no prolems people of a older generation or health problems or wheel chaired bound this is set on a very steep hill with 39 steps to the reception and many more to your rooms and other access areas the staff do not speak much english but tips help you get the better service the barman work 16hrs a day so there smile tends to fade during the course of the day but they work hard a should be treated whith that respect and they are the only people worth tipping this hotel has many problems but if you just want a base its ok (3* hostel) please read more reviews as peoples views are very different a big hello to all we met from the Limoman we stay 03/08/07 to 09/08/07 good luck
a genuine review from a genuine holiday maker
dear all, i stayed here for 1 week from 1st august 2007 to the 8th august 2007 with my wife and 11 yr old girl. this is a candid review from some one other than the hotel which seems to put there own reviews on here and fool all of us. firstly the food WAS repetitive every single day NO JOKE. second NO ENTERTAINMENT. will i carry on, well ok here goes. i have never seen so many accidents due to a slippery poolside but also around the hotel in general. 1 complete sectionof rooms did not have any hot water at all and sometimes NO Water. plastic tumblers were cleaned with a quick rinse of the barmans hand through tap water only 6 types of drink available through all inclusive...beer,wine,fizzy drinks, raki, gin and vodka oh sorry and the odd cup of tea or coffee. snacks were for only 2 hours a day and consisted of cold chips and burger, nothing else. the dining hall is far to small and always needed to queue (that is if you liked the 2 choices that were on offer) they also serve you so you dont eat to much. yes there are a lot of steps and a steep hill but hey thats the least of your problems. very hard to communicate with the staff as they dont speak hardly any english. rooms basic but clean and a standard 2 star, food AWFUL 1 star.lots of people paying extra to eat out. the view from our room was great however PLEASE DO TAKE MY REVEIW VERY VERY SERIOUSLY AND DO NOT, REPEAT DO NOT TOUCH THIS HOTEL WITH A BARGE POLL.....we are a genuine honest family and only tell it as it was so please feel free to ask us any questions and im sure i will try and reply to as many as possible. good luck cannyscotsman
entertainer, what entertainer?
hotel clean, staff not all friendly, there is no entertainment in the day for children despite statements by travel agents saying there is. The week we were there was only one evening of entertainment. food was very average, also there is a games room that is a very large room but only contains a table tennis table and it is nearly impossible to get hold of the bats for it. The entertainment may be lacking for the animation team is a one man show and hes not there half the time. Theres a lot of steps all over the hotel and a steep hill down to the village, this was'nt a problem to us but would be for the elderly or wheelchair access
Fantastic
We had a great time. The kids loved the slide, the food was great, the room spotless cleaned every day. The staff were very friendly and helpfull. We will be back!

Great hotel ,realy good value ,food vey tasty too.I would recommend it for everyone.Only 10 min form Bodrum. Dont listen to previous reviews.Booked it on [--]
well worth the money very pleasent hotel
well what can i say!!! me my wife and 13 year old and 2 year old thought it was great!!! DON'T LISTEN TO ALL THOSE OTHER REVIEWS.... ok yes it is on a hill and yes there are stairs but it's situated in gembet the whole town is on a hill every where you walk is either up a hill or down one. the hotel staff where exellent every time we needed something they were there in a flash. the food got better towards the middle of the holiday as they had just installed all NEW eating area plenty of choice and always fresh bread salad etc... every day there was a differany choice of dishes fish meat etc. ( you go to turkey you eat turkish food it's very simple). the room was massive a 3 seater settee and 2 singles also a full kithen and table and chairs, a comfortable bedroom with loads of storage and the maid came every day. the pool was fantastic with 2 kids areas and a wonderfull slide that kept the kids happy!!. drinks was good beer wine vodka etc plenty of differant juices for the kids. so look all in all for what i paid for my holiday i think it was well worth it and would go back there again as it was a nice relaxed place with lots of kids laughing and adults chilling take no notice of all that other rubbish written about this hotel most of them are over a year old give it a go. I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!
Loved hotel, brilliant holiday.
Had a good time! Wide choice of food at all meals, even fussiest daughter found something to eat! Very clean throughout and staff very friendly and helpful. Drinks freely available, not half measures as stated on other reviews. Would recommend, we were a family with 4 teenage children and they all enjoyed our time in Gumbet. Good value for money.
What could have been a nice holiday
My friend and I wanted to have a nice week away from all the stress and thought we deserve a nice all inclusive holiday. The Hotel we choose wasn't the cheapest and we wanted to just have sun, water and a carefree holiday really. We booked our holiday with Vision Holiday. The Guy on the phone was nice enough, if only he would have been honest! It started off with a terrible Check-In procedure in Gatwick, followed by an Onour Airline plane that didn't start up (something wrong with the engine, hmm nice. By the way: this airline is not allowed to fly to and from any German airport any more because they are so unreliable, overbook flights and low safety standards. I just didn’t want to worry my friend any further, so I waited to tell her, once we were up in the air) and finished by arriving in the hotel, which at night doesn't look too bad. Shame they had a power cut and we couldn’t actually see our room. The concierge at reception was really nice, he gave a room away from the pool and really it was a little apartment. Not up to a 4Start hotel standard, but there was loads of space - just what 2 ladies need :-) So the next day we ventured through the hotel to find the breakfast area which was quite all right. We also liked the salads and various options for lunch or dinner, however if you see the same food EVERY day, then you start having a sleep in - so you can miss breakfast- or start going to the beach - to avoid lunch- or arrange to meet total strangers in town - just so you can go out and eat your dinner somewhere else.... I swore to myself that I would not eat aubergine again for the rest of the year. It's December now and I am still off aubergines. Drinks - and all inclusive - well you can drink as much Amsteel beer as you like (gives you a terrible headache though) until 11pm, when the all inclusive stops. Wine - well that comes from a 10litre container. You have a choice between white and red, and it's warm or warm. Any kind of drink is served in disgustingly dirty glasses (proper glass for wine), plastic glasses for anything else. I actually looked forward to going out at night, so I could get a decent glass of wine or pint of beer. Forget the animation - Wednesdays is Turkey night. Well blokes might enjoy that, to me it was simply tacky. Plus if you arrived let's say 1 hour late, there were no tables left. One might say that's ok, I stand, but at the same time - this was our dinner time. So although we didn't want to watch the programme, there was nowhere else to go to sit and eat our dinner! Mind you it was cold and we were served chicken and aubergine, so not much to miss. Children's food was great though - chips and fried frankfurter every day! Pool: the waterslide was fun - even adults can enjoy that. Unfortunately they allowed ringos and other blow up toys which made it a safety hazard both for the people using the slide and the poor holiday makers that just wanted to have a swim. The amount of times I saw people being "run over". Plus be careful - the tiles around the pool are extremely slippery! We enjoyed getting the free shuttle bus to a nearby beach (20 min drive). The beach was lovely, the sea clean and warm. Only downside - the staff at the nearby restaurant (that provides the shuttle) can be a bit of a pest. The food there however was a welcome change. Omelettes, salads, pasta, fish = and why not? They gave us a lift there and back, we could use the sun lounges for free, it was quite and we enjoyed it. Our journey back: well that was not the hotels fault, instead all I can say is: DO NOT TRAVEL with VISION HOLIDAY. Not only did vision holiday not have a customer board in the hotel, so we didn't know when we were being picket up, but also the rep only visited once to sell us trips. When we finally got to the airport, they forgot to add 4 people to the passenger list, the airline didn't really care and there was no representative. We called the Turkish office where we were asked what we wanted them to do about it, as their office was 1 hour away. Finally we got through to the UK office which tried to help us. Also the Manager of Onour airlines then stepped in and really tried to get us on the plane. No thanks to Vision Holidays. They were so ignorant and really managed to bring us down when we should have been happy that we finally get to go home! It wasn't even worth complaining afterwards, as we believed that they would have just not cared. The 4 of us however did manage to entertain everyone on the flight home with our lovely stories about the hotel and the check-in in Bodrum airport. That made the flight back fun (and the fact that we could laugh about the food - it was miles better than in the hotel, so be careful what you say about plane food!) I have been in Turkey before and that was miles better. I am just happy that I can now laugh about our trip in summer.
"Holiday Disaster"
"This was a holiday from hell".to start with we were ment to go to kusadarsi to the "la route family suites" but ended up having to transfer to gumbert.jew to health and saftey at the "la route".when we got to gumbert we stayed in the guler resort hotel, witch was all inclusive.when we first seen the hotel we thought,oh my god.we had never seen so many steps, with having four children between 11-1we did nt think we were going to last the two weeks.the first day we went for dinner and we did nt think much of it,but we thought it would get better."but it did nt".it was the same old stuff everyday, boiled eggs and salad for breakfast.and dinner was soup, rice, chicken on the bone, and more salad "of course".so we found it really hard to get the kids to eat any thing at all."we ended eating out most of the time".but with it been all inclusive you dont exspect to.and the drinks were just as bad they had one bar man doing the job of 4 men,so when you got a drink in a half pint plastic cup you were only getting them just over half way full.witch ment you had to keep going to the bar more times, and standing for about 20 mins.the best time we had was the pool witch was a good size and the water slide was really good when it was on for about half an hour a day.we were also told we would have entertainment every night "there was none".i would never go back to the guler resort hotel.as our relaxing holiday ended up being a exhausting holiday.as the family rooms are right as you go in and you need to go up about 42 steps to the bar, pool and restraunt.this is not a family hotel.if you have children, heart problems, and leg problems."DONT GO STAY AWAY".
