Fantastic hotel, place and people. The staff at the hotel are fantastic, they are so happy and friendly they could not do enough for you.
The food is fab, such a variety even my children were catered for.
The children had a great time, never saw them; they were so busy with their own activities. The animation team work so hard to make you happy.
All the reviews are right I would go back to this hotel.
Not much to do at night, except what the animation team do, but made loads of friends which made the holiday even better.
Security is tight everywhere you go but you feel very secure.
Weather was great while we were there but does tend to get cold in evening and the entertainment tends to be outside, so take some fleeces.
Taba is a military airport, so if you don't book a taxi beforehand you won't get one at the airport.
Can't wait to go back. Can't wait to go back!!

I've been meaning to put a review on Holiday Watchdog since we came back from Taba Heights in August 2006, but things have just overtaken me.
Funny though - we're now thinking about booking our summer holiday again, and guess where's top of the list for places to go - El Wekala Golf Resort in Taba Heights.
We spent two fantastic weeks there in August last year with our 14 year old daughter and our nephew. The hotel was fantastic - relaxing when you wanted it to be, exciting when you needed it to be.
Accommodation was well above standard for an Egyptian 4* facility with good quality and a wide variety of meal options available. Service was very, very good indeed, and not once did we feel the edge that we felt in Sharm the year before with an attractive young teenage girl with us.
Sharm had been unbearable with much attention for our dear daughter, but staff at El Wekala were reserved, respectful of our cultures and really very friendly without being obtrusive.
We were there in the last full weeks of the school summer holiday, and that gave a very young and sometimes noisy feel to the place, but this was never overwhelming.
There was a marked difference in our last few days when most school aged holiday makers left, and this gave us the perfect feel for what El Wekala must be like during the quieter months - let me tell you that it was very appealing !
Taba Heights itself is very quiet and is a resort still under development - but they certainly look after you. We went around the town on one of the many free hotel buses early on in our first week only to find that El Wekala is actually where most things are happening anyway - they call it Downtown.
Facilities were great, accommodation was very good, food was varied and plentiful, and service was fantastic. There were a few moans from others while we were there, but this seemed to be mostly about having to use plastic cups at the pool for the all inclusive drinks - my view - nonsense!
If you want to get drunk during the day at the poolside, you're in the wrong place! This isn't what Egypt is about, but unfortunately there is a risk that tasteless and tactless British and European holiday makers will turn it into the same grotty location, that so many other beautiful places have become.
Egypt and El Wekala is a great place to visit, and I for one can't wait to go back.

First holiday to Egypt and first time away for Xmas. Taba Heights is a peninsular that has four hotels. Entry to peninsular is through police check point so totally safe.
Greeted at airport by workers eager to help with cases. Had been advised by previous visitors to take English £1 coins to pay - these people are very poor and £1 is a fortune to them.
We were advised in the airport that 1EP (aprox 10p) would be an acceptable tip. Taba Heights airport is a military airport.
Holiday reps are not allowed in the terminal which is very small but several blue suited representatives were on hand to give advice. It is necessary to obtain a visa at the airport if you want to go on certain trips.
This advice is given on a sheet which will be handed to you by these representatives. It may be necessary to wait a while for all passengers to embark. Everyone has to leave the airport at the same time. Be aware that it is not possible to catch a taxi to the resort which is 30km away.
Hotel staff very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Room spacious and clean. Large balcony. Fantastic views over Red Sea, Mount Sinai and Jordan. Lots of steps throughout resort and no lifts to rooms.
Good variety of food at every meal and well presented. Waiters very friendly and much fun.
Beach easily reached by minibuses that left hotel every 15mins. Staff will find you a bed and bring your mattress to you. Towels available on beach from hotel. All-inclusive soft drinks available on beach but food is chargeable. You can pay or charge it to your room. Burger about £2.50 and really was as much as you could eat.
Xmas Eve Gala Meal was fantastic. Food was good and included a Bedouin tent full of desserts set out among carvings of fish, animals etc. Fabulous! In-house animation team provided entertainment.
Besides the kids club, there is very little to do in the evenings other than drink although you may go to any of the other hotels but these are not included in all-inclusive.
A visit to St Catherine's Monastery is a must. The scenery was breathtaking particularly as it had snowed. At £36 it was a bargain. Lunch was included which was good. On the way we stopped at the roadside to take photos of a Bedouin camp.
A young girl who was absolutely frozen offered us some jewellery. I bought two key rings for £1 each and she gave me a necklace for which she would take no money.
What she really wanted was food, so we gave her our breakfast bags that the hotel had provided. Afterwards I wish I had given her more. Please buy something from her if you go on this trip.
One piece of advice we would like to give is to take some warm clothes for this time of year, although it was hot in the day, it did get very cold at night. It was too cold to sit on the beach on one of our days.
Although we found the sea too cold to get into, lots of other people did manage this and told us the underwater world was truly beautiful.
The restaurant seating was mostly open air although there is an indoor seating area. It was absolutely freezing at St Catherine's, ice and snow on the floor. Lots of people were in t shirts and they suffered greatly. Take a warm jacket and a fleece to wear in the evenings around the hotel.
We had a really lovely, relaxing holiday. As we had to share tables at the Gala Evening we made friends with another couple and spent many evenings with them.
Everyone seemed very friendly probably because there was very little to do - it does say this in the brochure so no one should expect more.
We shall definitely go back to this resort and would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

I travelled to Taba Heights on New Years day with my boyfriend. After reading some of the earlier reviews on the El Wekala, we were worried about what to expect.
The hotel however was the nicest I have ever stayed in. At first impressions when we were dropped off it was like we were looking at an Egyptian palace and the rooms did nothing to change this view.
They were huge and really luxurious. They staff in all areas of the hotel were so friendly and welcoming and the whole atmosphere in the hotel is one of relaxed enjoyment.
As we were only there for a week we didn’t go on many of the trips but the ones we did were amazing. The coloured canyon, if you do this trip be prepared for some quite difficult walking and wear good walking shoes. It is well worth it though.
We also went to the Blue Hole which is a 100metre deep coral reef. The snorkelling was fantastic!
If you visit this area you can’t go snorkelling or diving. The snorkelling at the private beach can be done in knee deep water so there is no need to worry if you are not a strong swimmer.
The coral reefs start almost as soon as you get in the sea so there is always plenty of interesting fish to see. We did two days of diving with Water world which was really good. We had never done it before and the staff were very thorough about safety.
The dive we did was only to 5metres deep but the things at the reefs at that depth you would not believe.
The food at the hotel was lovely. There was plenty choice and every morning and evening the chef was on hand to cook up fresh eggs, pancakes or pasta.
All in all this is one of the best holidays I have ever had, I would definitely return to the area and to the hotel.

I found other people's comments on this web site so useful that I just had to add my own about this holiday.
I have just returned home from a week's Christmas holiday in the El Wekala resort and have given it a well deserved 10/10. Seven of my family including my 2 year old enjoyed a wonderful week there.
All the good comments that the other reviewers have said are absolutely true, it is one of the cleanest, friendliest hotel I have visited. Forget this entire five star more like a three star nonsense, just look at the detail.
You are in the middle of a desert, there is nothing for miles. And yet the hotel offers everything you need in luxury surroundings. The hotel is very well cared for and serviced. Everywhere is spotless including the large pools, the bedrooms and the beach. All the facilities you need are available.
The bedrooms have very powerful climate control systems so you can have warm air as well as air-conditioning. The hairdryer in the bathroom is a proper one so you can happily leave your travel one at home.
They stock the fridge with free bottled water, but leave you plenty of room for your own stuff (I confess we put chocolate and Champagne in ours – well it was Christmas). The TV does have USA satellite channels and we were able to watch a movie every evening whilst getting ready.
The rooms all have large walk in showers with lashings of hot water available constantly, considering the hotel is in the middle of the dessert even this should be viewed as pretty luxurious. There are water fountains everywhere, but if you are not sure about them you can get free bottled water from the restaurant.
I’m not normally keen on buffet style food, but you would be pretty hard pushed to find fault with the food on offer. There is a fresh bread barrow, stocked with a range of lovely seeded fresh bread and butter. The salad bar is well presented on masses of ice.
There was an excellent variety of hot dishes and the chefs had cleverly designed a menu that would be quite different each day rather than offering hundreds of choices every meal time. We had beef curry one day, and giant creamy chicken vol au vaunts the next; a barbecue another night, and spicy beef in a wrap on another occasion.
You could get everything you could want for breakfast, including eggs cooked how you like by the chef. It is very unusual in a hotel abroad to have decent puddings and pastries, but this hotel served up different, yummy delights every day.
There is no rush in the restaurant and you need to take time to look at what is on offer and decide on your courses. Some people seem to pick up a plate and slop on a spoonful of everything in one big mess and then eat it as quickly as possible.
My family and I had at least four or five courses every evening, usually along the lines of fresh home made soup and fresh baked bread, then a small fish course, a main meat course (usually beef or chicken), then one (or several) of the wonderful puddings, followed by cheese and olives and a glass of red wine and coffee.
I just don’t understand anyone who says that the food became boring. My 2 year old, sampled more variety of foods than I have ever been able to get her to try at home. My little one still likes her milk, the milk here is sterilised and not pasteurized and I was worried she may not like the taste. She loved it though, it is very thick and creamy and other mums I spoke to said their kids loved it as well.
Many of the guests were families with young children, but don’t let that put you off if you are a couple. The staff are so friendly and caring towards the children that they are exceptionally well behaved and happy and you will not feel overcrowded by screaming kids.
I had read other reports that said that the evenings get pretty cold. What I had not appreciated however is that the layout of the hotel and the rooms means that many of the interconnecting corridors and access to your rooms are outside. The peanuts bar is also very small and whilst there is plenty of additional seating this is only partially undercover.
I would advise everyone to take a few jackets or cardigans as you will need them. Dress ranges from very casual jeans and jumpers to quite dressy. It didn’t seem to matter and everyone fitted in without looking scruffy or overdressed. If you do get a bit chilly later on, get the barman to make you a brandy coffee (still free on the all-inclusive).
Don’t get in a flap about tipping, we found that the staff didn’t expect any tips although we did give the porter about 50p which he seemed happy with. We didn’t get any hassle at all on the beaches as they are private.
The only very minor hassle we got was at the airport on the way home where there was a chap lurking outside the toilets handing out pieces of toilet paper. You accept it and say thank you because you think that is his job. In the loo there is plenty of paper. When you come out he puts his hand out for money. I just said no thanks and carried on walking; others got in a bit of a flap and gave him their small change. I think it just encourages them.
Another thing at the airport is when you arrive; once you have had your passport stamped you are approached by an Egyptian guy in casual clothing asking to check your passports. Nearly everyone thought he was either a con man or a weirdo and took a bit of persuading to hand over their passports to him. He is legitimate however and you do need to give him your passports for checking.
Overall we had a most enjoyable and relaxing holiday and will definitely be going back. We felt very safe and my toddler had the time of her life, she just smiled, laughed, danced and sang her way through the week. I had prepared myself for not having very much of a holiday because I thought she would need so much looking after.
I couldn’t have been more wrong. It is all credit to the hotel staff on how easy they made everything for us. They really pushed the boat out for Christmas and New Year also. The hotel was beautifully decorated with Christmas trees and gorgeous decorations and jolly Christmas music was played in the restaurant.
For Christmas Eve they laid on a fantastic gala evening and handed out little red stockings with a present in for the kids. Yet another nice touch. As I said before, it’s all in the detail.
One final thing, not much is mentioned about the golf course. This is right outside the hotel. It is a proper championship course but they allow you to play wearing soft shoes or trainers. There is a discount for the hotel guests and a round of golf is very reasonable, and you can hire the buggies and clubs also at a very reasonable price.
Two of the four golfers who played are left handed ladies and they had clubs available for them so they are quite well stocked with equipment. Four of our party played a round and loved it. They said the golf staff were very friendly and welcoming. If you are a golfer you should check this resort out before it becomes too well known and may become more expensive.

This hotel claims to be 4 star deluxe, it`s not! It`s more like a 3 star.
Most of the staff are friendly and helpful and our room was always clean so no complaints there.
Don`t go to this hotel if you have small children or find climbing stairs difficult. There are steps everywhere.
We were put on the top floor at the back of the complex, it was a struggle to get my daughter and her buggy up and down the spiral stairs every day. I asked to be moved but the manager refused.
After the first few days the food became pretty predictable. If you are a veggie you will be eating rice and stew every day, twice a day.
The swimming pool is quite small, but at least it`s warmer than the one on the beach. The beach pool is like ice. The kids pool on the beach is also cold and very dirty. You can use your toes to write your name in the scum on the bottom of the kids pool!
Avoid ice in your drinks and don`t drink from the water coolers. We saw them being refilled! Buy 2ltr bottles, 10p in the supermarket at the back of the hotel.
If you are travelling with children you might want to take a non slip mat for the shower. Stone floor no bath very slippery, like a "wet room" really.
High chairs don`t have a harness and are on wheels which wasn't very safe. Cots are also a bit "scary", might want to take your own.

Arrived to a musical reception and a cool drink. Nice touch.
Check-in very smooth and professional. Reception friendly and courteous. Luggage was taken to our room. Other side of complex, up 3 flights of stairs. The houseman really deserved his tip.
Lovely spacious room. King size bed. Spotless and fresh. Bathroom has a great walk-in shower. Phone by the loo-very swish. Loads of storage space. Good sized balcony. The complex is really lovely, lots of little hedges and trees, nicely lit-which added to the Arabian nights feel.
Had a BBQ the first night on the terrace under the stars. Service and food excellent, considering they are catering for many nationalities. Lovely fresh salads (the hummus and olives to die for!). Red wine the best rather than white or rose. VERY large measures on the spirits, just one and you will feel the force!
The staff at this hotel are by far the best I have ever encountered. Polite, friendly, helpful and HAPPY. What a refreshing change. The really seemed to want you there.
First Choice rep, Shane Thomas was great. We actually booked a trip through him as he presented it so well. (our experience of holiday reps in the past hasn't been great)! The Jerusalem day trip is excellent. Very professional and interesting. Added bonus is a dip in the Dead Sea.
One word of advice; beware of booking a trip to Dahab with any local companies as they will take you to shopping places and stalls that they obviously get a back-hander from. It wasn't a big rip off but I could have bought better for less money in the great shops around the complex. Excellent bargains to be had from the stalls at St Katherine's Monastery. Have a look.
All in all I cried when we had to come home. I felt like I'd made some good friends here and they were genuinely sorry to say goodbye. It's a lovely hotel with great staff, accommodation and food. I would recommend it.
Security is tight but I felt very safe and quite important. Don't let the past incidents put you off, you'd be missing a treat.

The hotel is the best you’ll ever see, all the staff are great to get on with and are up for a laugh. The captain of the bars aka tom cruise will show you many off his party tricks.
The rooms are kept very clean and I could not fault them. The chefs are the best you’ll never taste better food.
The animation team work so hard to keep every one happy and have an amazing DJ called moody who looks a bit like ronaldinho, also the leader of the kids club Katy looked after all the kids so well she should get a pay rise.
In the two weeks I was there I had one problem, I couldn’t stay longer.

Three of us travelled to the El Wekala Resort this November for a complete chill out week, not only was the weather brilliant all week but the hotel was very clean and the staff were 1st class.
The food was so good that we all came back carrying a few extra pounds. Having never been to Egypt before and being three single women we were a bit nervous of what to expect, but we loved every moment there.
We took a one day trip to Cairo and the pyramids, which was the longest bus journey ever but we were looked after and even had our own security man, who was brilliant with us. The Egyptian guide was not only 1st class on his history but was so helpful with taking photos for us, getting us drinks ect, well over what you would expect.
The only piece of advice I would give anyone travelling there is make sure you have enough small notes to tip, we got caught out at the airport when we landed, we all made for the toilets and then realised we didn’t have any change to leave the woman there a tip.
The Egyptian people are very friendly in fact they cant do enough for you, they work very hard to make sure you have a great holiday, anyone thinking of going to the El Wekala, don’t think about it, book it, your love it, we did.

Amazing holiday. The food was great with a good choice.
The weather was lovely an hot - and the activities at the resort was fantastic, there was all ways something to do, during the day and the night, the guys that made this happen was Moody & Kareim the Animation guys if anything they make your holiday worth while, there was always something to do.
The boys make you feel very comfortable and get you to join in all the activities. Love you guys see you soon.
The bar staff are amazing they are really helpful, always making you smile
The chefs need a pat on the back, with the amazing food they done. I would say to anyone, Go to three Corners.
If you love to dive this is amazing too the fish you see is out of this world, there was a whale shark spotted most days.
Snorkeling is amazing its like being in a tropical fish tank, you are so close to them they come rite up to you, and you can follow them for ages.
Water world for all the water sports great.

A fantastic holiday, we went for 2 wks all inclusive. The food was amazing with such a wide choice available. Very friendly, helpful staff. We visited the other hotels in the complex, Hyatt, Sofitel and the Marriot. For a very reasonable price, £7 for the Hyatt and £5 for the Sofitel, you can have access to their pools and beaches, which was great as although the pool at Three Corners is good there are more at the Hyatt and therefore practically empty. The beach at the Hyatt is fab, it has a jetty that you can snorkel off of. I would recommend that you DO NOT book any trips through the reps, especially Thomson rep by the name of Deborah! She was appalling, if you want to take a trip then there is a desk by the side of reception which will organise your trips for a better price and a much better service. Water world is fantastic, they offer a wide range of water sports or a day’s snorkelling trip, which was so good that we ended up doing it twice!! Again, don't book though your rep, book though Water world direct. There is someone by the bar/pool area who can make your bookings and again it is cheaper than going through your rep. Although there is not much evening entertainment you can always go down to the other hotels if you fancy a bit of a change. There is a bus that runs around the complex, free, and is very regular.
Mohamed the bar man was fantastic and would come around with more drinks when he saw we were getting low. Top tip, the vodka measures grow very large as the evening progresses.
We visited the Dead Sea, bit of a trip but it’s a 'got to be done' thing. The mud was very good and really does leave your skin soft. We also visited St Katherine’s, with the biblical burning bush is, fantastic trip, the only thing I would not recommend is that after the visit to St Katherine’s we went onto Dahab for, as they call it, 'amazing shopping in the bazaars' etc etc, and frankly it was horrid. Tacky tourist rubbish, the place was smelly and constantly hounded by the local to come into their shops and buy some 'tut'.
We would definitely return as it was a wonderful relaxing holiday with such fantastic service. We would often return to our room, to find flowers scattered and the towels made up into swans, it really was the personal touches that made this holiday so very enjoyable.

Everything went like clockwork and full marks to Longwood. The hotel was a mile from the sea but with a free shuttle every 1/2 hour to the beach and other 5 star hotels on the shoreline this was no problem. Food was better than expected, drinks were plentiful and even the wine was reasonable. Service was excellent and friendly. Taba is ideal for several trips to Petra (a must), Dead Sea, Mt. Sinai sunrise and quad bike are all recommended. Why the 8/10 rating and the reason I could not return - the incessant repetitive music at headache level. It was acceptable for the Butlins style water aerobics but there was no escape, even the beach was not immune. If you want a relaxing holiday this may not be the hotel for you as the emphasis seems to aim at appealing to the less mature end of the market. Otherwise fantastic value for money.

Just come back from amazing holiday from 3 corners.
I have absolutely no negative comments to be made, Everything from the staff to the food was brilliant!
Make sure you join in on the activities with the animation team, there a lot of fun and try very hard to get everyone involved. Try and go for dinner either late or early as it saves on queuing but there really is no issue with overcrowding.
Didn’t even make it down to the beach as the pool was so fab but had great reports from the people we met who weren’t so lazy!
We did manage to go to the beach party which was a really nice evening with great food, I also recommend the lady Demontford boat trip to see the fish.
All in all an absolutely fantastic holiday for everyone! 100% recommended!

Just returned from a week at the "3 Corners". Very enjoyable indeed.
Plus points: Staff cannot do enough for you (and at a wage equivalent to £0.10p per hour too) and, despite cripplingly long shifts that we wouldn't tolerate in the UK, were always smartly dressed and turned out and unfailingly helpful (why was every single staff member male, though, is this cultural?)
Accommodation was brilliant, large, clean, tidy and the air-con was a dream come true. The shuttle bus, frequent and efficient.
Food : each to their own, but we found plenty of variety and always freshly cooked/prepared. It was a big bonus having bottled water dispensers everywhere, no excuse to get dehydrated.
The restaurant got a bit crowded at times, with lots of little ones to fall over, and some guests ignored the "non-smoking" areas.
Pool : very large, very clean, beautiful.
Negative points:
Sunbeds - Brits always seem to criticise other nations for "sun bed-reserving" - well, this was crazy, by 7am 90% of sun beds were "reserved" with no-one actually on them for hours. Despite notices saying "no reserving" all the Brits seemed to think this didn't apply to them, so there was continual "Benidorm behaviour".
All-inclusive : this officially "stops" at 3pm on departure day. For people like us, who arrived last thing at night and weren't leaving until late, this meant that we only got 6 2/3rd days AI, not the 7 we had paid for. Being refused service in the bar at 5pm was embarrassing. The Thomson rep said that there was an agreement that "late Friday" departure people could still use AI until departure but this didn't happen.
Entertainment - each to their own, I note comments that there is very little and it isn't very good and I would agree with that entirely but personally I don't want loads of karaoke and "game-playing" evenings so it was fine by me. The "team" don't do much for their money, though!
Trips - expensive and lots of driving (Taba Heights is in the middle of nowhere, Red Sea one side, desert the other) though pretty samey sand and rocks. As always, trips out included the "obligatory" stop at a factory, which I don't want.
The water sports centre is very good and offers a lot but at a heck of a price
All in all, an excellent holiday but a week in the middle of nowhere and a week of all-inclusive was plenty.
Finally, for anyone who is booked to go, and has a taxi transfer arranged from Taba airport - BEWARE. Taba is a Military airport, in the desert, and wants "Civvies" out of the way as fast as possible. The nearest town is 125Kms away and there is NO taxi-rank at the airport in case your booked taxi doesn't turn up. We had to "beg" a ride from the Thomson coach at £15 per head. Another family had been told by their travel agent that the package didn't include transfers but "you can get a taxi at the airport and it will cost pence". Wrong, VERY wrong, on both counts and, in my view, professionally negligent on the part of the travel agent. So, get a coach transfer at all costs.
