Reviews of Lake Quinault Lodge Hotel, Vancouver, Canada
Lake Quinault Lodge Hotel, Vancouver
Built in 1926, in the tradition of the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone and the Sun Valley Lodge in Idaho, the Lake Quinault Lodge reflects the spirit of a bygone era. This cozy getaway offers a serene retreat from the pressures of the outside world.
Period wicker and overstuffed furniture, a massive brick fireplace and ceiling beams decorated with Native American designs all contribute to the ambiance of the Lodge lobby. Guests can enjoy the Lodge?s indoor heated pool, sauna, service bar and game room, but will find no intrusions from in-room telephones, radios and televisions in all Main Lodge, Fireplace and Boathouse buildings.

We flew from Heathrow to Seattle picked up the hire car with no problems and then drove to downtown Seattle for two nights.
Saw all the usual sights space needle. Market , cruise etc. Then we drove down to lake Quinault. The Quinault lodge has 92 rooms with no telephones or tvs. There is a roaring log fire in the reception lobby, big comfy sofas and plenty of books and magazines to read.
The lodge is set on the shores of lake quinault on which you can canoe, fish , row and various other water sports. There are numerous walking trails at differing levels of ability ,through the forest. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the ones in the main lodge have log fires.
The restaurant serves typical American fare and to a quite high standard. If you have children with you who are desperate for burger and fries there are a couple of small diners along the main highway.
From the hotel you can drive in about ten minutes to the site of the biggest spruce tree in the world and is it big, even after being struck by lightning it is still the tallest.
After a week there we drove through the Olympic national forest to Port Angeles and caught the ferry to victoria in vancouver island. This is some ferry ride, there is a beautiful view of the olympic mountain range all the way.
We then stayed in the Delta Pointe in Victoria, which was overlooking the harbour, so you could watch the ferries and sea planes taking off and landing. The hotel itself had everything you would need, good service all the facilities and very high standard accommodation. We didn't dine there as we wanted to sample the restaurants in Victoria and we had such a good time I cant really remember their names.
From Victoria we had a very scenic ride to Nanaimo and caught the ferry from there to Vancouver and this is another ferry ride worth taking the time out to enjoy. A beautiful view of the mountains behind Vancouver.
In Vancouver we stayed in the Pacific Pallisades and here a warning If you stay there don't have a room on any floor below the sixth or so if you are overlooking the lobby,, as they play very loud music in the foyer from about six o'clock in the morning. nice hotel and ultra modern. It is where all the film crews and media types stay. So if you want to bump into some stars stay here. I was too busy shopping on Robson street and a great selection they have too, so save some dollars.
We then drove back down to Seattle for 1 more night and our flight home after what had been a very enjoyable different holiday. The calm of lake quinault, the ferry rides, the peaceful beauty of Victoria the buzz of Vancouver and Seattle and yes it did rain the whole time we were in Seattle apart from the time we went up the space needle so we had a fantastic view.
Would I do it again, yes, would I change anything yes, I would stay longer in Lake Quinault next time.
