The ship was disgusting and food not very good. Cabins were very small and noisy.

I complained and it did no good. There was a lot of people that was not very happy about the ship at all.

I have been on lots of ships and this one I will never ever go on again. Thomsons don’t help at all, they were very rude at one point on the ship.

I wouldn’t want anyone to go through what I did. You go to have a good time but we didn’t, it was a nightmare.

This was by far the worst cruise we have ever had, And to think they are taking this ship to the Caribbean, it will be laughed out of the waters.

I have had several cruises some of them were Thomson. The cabins if you can call them that, I have bigger cupboards, the ship is in dire need of a decor and complete refurbishment, what was supposed to be a nice relaxing week for Xmas turned out to be a disaster.

We waited at times more than 25 minutes for are drinks, I think they sent all their staff home for xmas perhaps they had to pay them double time.

The entertainment was an embarrassment I have seen better rejects on x factor. The cleanliness of the entire ship was very poor.

The lido deck was filthy plastic cups and very often dirty plates ,most definitely not worth the £1900 we paid if you could pick this cruise up for £300 each and resigned yourself to a no thrills budget holiday ,you might be able to just look forward to the ports of call.

Don’t book any trips they are a rip off, it’s so easy to use public transport or grab a cab.

The only reason I gave this holiday a rating of one the food was quite good in the seven seas.

We went on the Xmas Cruise.

Having read the previous posts about the ship it was off-putting - but it just goes to show how 'picky' some people can be.

The Good: the Staff in every department were first class, the food was good in every area - all tastes catered for, the one card buys everything idea was superb, the cabins had loads of storage and if anyone spent more than 8 hours a day in there sleeping what was the point of going on a cruise.

The Indifferent: The shows in the Can-Can lounge were very amateurish and Thomson could have afforded a professional act for each night(maybe a comedian) some double humour there!!

The bad: The noisy vibrations when under way and pushed for time, would be very hard for a light sleeper to get any at all.

You get what you pay for and for what you paid here, it was very fair value.

Don’t do their trips do your own, easily organised if you do a bit of planning ahead - and much cheaper.

This was a good entry level cruise for the average family.

This was the first cruise my wife and I had taken. We also had the "pleasure of the company" of our 21 year old son.

Booked in May 2007 we were unable to secure a single cabin for him so we shared a triple - 2038 on deck 2, an inside cabin that was small to say the least but we survived, with sense of humour intact! Many people said that you only sleep in them but that is only true in part - you do store your worldly belongings and try to change etc... At times like a game of Twister but bearable and if you are considering this option then it is workable.

Destiny is worn in parts but clean - especially the cabins where the staff never seem to rest! The figures made out of towels were really funny especially the elephant in sunglasses which had my wife heading for the corridor as she thought she was in the wrong cabin!

Food was good (especially breakfast) and with a reasonable choice although the Lido Cafe at the rear of the boat was drafty at breakfast. The All Inclusive is a good idea although we doubt that we "made a profit" even though my wife can drink for England and my son is a student - on board prices are reasonable.

Excursions can only be described as a waste of money - the view of everyone we spoke to, not just our opinion. The boat docks close enough to walk to town half the time and the others can be done easily by cab - Example: £30 each for a trip on a cable car (fare 6 Euros, visit to garden (3 Euros).

One tip - pay the extra for a porthole/window - waking up in an inside cabin with no concept of time is strange

Couple of people went down with tummy bugs - the Destiny has hand disinfection sprays at each eatery but few people used them and the crew did not enforce it consistently enough.

Overall, good value, not stuffy or formal. Destiny was clean, but showing her age (like me), but a really good first cruise. She rocks a bit, at times - my wife was seasick once but the rest of us survived - we spent Christmas Day at sea - really relaxing, no hassle, no relatives...

Enjoy!

We were on the Thomson Destiny the week beginning 9th November. We had cabin 3062 which was an outside on deck 3. It was very quiet but also quite close to the forward lifts. I think we were the 13th cabin from the front left. This was a good position for us.

The cabin was small. But it was clean. As someone else says it is a bit annoying how the shower curtain sticks to you - but it is a clean looking one at least! The ship is slightly old fashioned, but mainly only in the cabins.

You sort of think of the early 80s when you first see your cabin as it has fake wood effect and a turquoise sink! However it is all clean and the bedding is of course newer than the fixtures! The cabin is small. We had l-shaped configuration. The bed under the porthole converted into a sofa and the other bed could lift up. We did this when packing to get some floor space!

The staff are excellent. Some of them are quite straight faced and efficiently to their job, but others like to have a laugh. Special mention to Helen from Ukraine in the Clipper bar for her fun and tricks, Ricardo (I think) in the Sky Bar, he's the more mature barman up there and knew our home town which was funny. And our cabin steward who made us animals from the towels - a little pup and an elephant with sunglasses on it! His name was Rady or something like that. Jose in the Seven Seas also gave us a laugh by saying 'No..............problem' when I asked for anything.

The entertainment team were also great. The shows were good, but I think I just lost the plot with that one with Gavin on the donkey etc I just couldn't stop laughing but I didn't know if it was really meant to be funny.

Adequate towels are provided. They were changed for us twice a day when we'd had a shower they came in and totally dried up the bathroom etc in the evening too which was just as well because our floor got a bit soaked from the shower. We did the all inclusive which was good value at £99. We were surprised that there were quite a few people not on it!

All in all we had a great holiday. And we met some fun people too - Hi to Dianne, Mark, Sophie and Jimmy if you read this!

This was our first cruise & we did not know what to expect, but my wife & I could not have been more delighted with the holiday.

The Destiny although getting on a bit looks like a ship & not a block of flats. It is kept in excellent condition by the hard working crew.

The cabin staff are tireless in their efforts to please you & Olena our stewardess was an absolute treasure. The cabin on deck 5 although quite small was adequate as one spends little time in it.

The food was excellent & well presented and the self service buffet was available 24/7.

Entertainment was of the highest order in all the different lounges & the Can Can theatre played to a full house twice nightly. Excursions were a little pricey, but most shore trips could be managed under one’s own steam.

Anyone looking for a relaxing friendly cruise without the regimentation of some cruise lines, would be delighted with this experience.

I've just come back for a one week cruise around the Canaries, on the Colourful Coasts Itinerary. My partner and I went with my parents, and our ages ranged from late 20's to mid 50's.

I was totally amazed how much space we had in our cabin, after reading all the reviews saying how tiny they were. I guess I'd just expected a shoe box! We had ample of space in our cabin. We were on deck 2, room 2140. I'd 100% have this room area again, easy to find and very quiet.

My parents room was on desk 6, room 6007. I swear they kept moving that room! It’s like the hidden deck! Our steward kept our cabin spotless and the towel shaped dog he did for us was so cute.

The weather was fab, only had one day of rain, which was Morocco so not a massive loss there! The evening in Madeira it did rain, but very late on.

Food was lovely; we ate breakfast in the lido cafe, and had lunch either there or on deck. We had dinner in the seven seas restaurant and our waiter was fantastic! The other half is a faddy eater, so he requested steak and chips every night, and that is what he had, while the rest of us had whatever was on the menu. I thought the selection eat night was great, even on the night where I didn't really fancy anything on the menu, what I chose was lovely.

I tried snails for the 1st time ever - and yum!

We drank in most of the bars, but my favourite was the sky bar (although some nights it got a bit chilly in there). We had the all inclusive drinks package and I'd definitely get this in future, no big bill at the end of the cruise and you've got to try all those wonderful cocktails!

The shows were a bit poor to be fair, but I tried 3 of them.

The quiz and game shows were fun, and the entertainment team really did work hard to keep everyone happy and amused.

I took a few pics around the ship, as did the other half and they will no doubt be posted up in due time.

All in all I would go on a cruise again, I would go with Thomson again, on the Destiny again and even on this itinerary.

The crew were all wonderful, they work so many hours and yet always have a smile or a joke for us holiday-makers.

I have only one word to describe this cruises - AMAZING! It was the best holiday I have ever had! This was my first cruise and I have already booked up for next year on the same ship!

From the moment I boarded this ship I knew I was going to love it. The restaurants on board are top class, the service in the seven seas restaurant is top class, from the friendly chit chat to the singing waiters!

Lido is relaxed and welcoming and just because it’s a buffet doesn’t mean the food is any less brilliant, it is exactly the same high standard as the seven seas and I would recommend lido for breakfast and lunch and seven seas for dinner.

The cabins are small but what do you expect, it’s a ship, and you only sleep in it anyway. I must add mention to the cleanliness of them, the cabin stewards work very hard and take the time to get to know each and every passenger individually . The funny characters that they make out of the towels and leave on the bed always made me laugh.

The entertainment was good, every night there is a different west end show performed in the Can Can Lounge after dinner. After that you make your way through to the Oklahoma Lounge where the staff recreate a different popular game show every night, and all I can say is only take part if you are fully prepared to have the mick ripped straight out of you! Its brill! The next thing is cabaret, which doest last long but the disco afterwards makes up for it. If you’re not interested in that you can always relax in the clipper bar, spend your money in the casino or relax in your room to watch a film. On a Saturday night a comedian is on fine form and if you ever get the chance to see Kev Orkian then grab it because this man is the funniest and friendliest man alive!

Staff are friendly and supportive and always take the time out of their busy schedules to chat to you.

If you are a young person dreading going away with parents and thinking that cruises are full of old fuddy duddies you are wrong because its exactly what I thought. I am 20 and went with my mum and loved every second and there were so many other young people on board I was never short of company.

So go for it, you will love It! You haven’t lived until you’ve been on the Destiny!

Just come back from a 1 week cruise around the Canaries, (Colourful Coasts Itinerary).

The ship was lovely, the staff very friendly and the organisation is great. We have cruised on all the other Thomson Ships and all are without doubt extremely good value for money.

The cabins on the Destiny are probably the smallest I have stayed in, but the cabin stewardess kept it immaculately clean and what do you do in your cabin anyway but sleep and shower. For anyone wavering on whether or not a cruise is for them all I would say is try a Thomson cruise.

You make friends even before you board ship. Everyone talks to everyone, you are never on your own (unless you want to be as there are quiet corners etc). The dining is superb, please go into the waiter service restaurant at every opportunity.

We had breakfast, lunch and dinner in this restaurant and were never disappointed. The 24 hr dining is not for the faint hearted, so please take elasticised waisted clothing, as you seem to expand daily.

Give a cruise a try and I assure you you'll not want to go back to a land based holiday again.

Well what can I say? I love the Destiny. It’s fantastic. I have been on there 5 times now and wouldn’t dream of staying away from it more than 4 months.

The staff are fab and because I’ve been back 6 times they are more like friends.

The cruise ship itself is fantastic. So much to do, you never get bored. There is something going on everywhere throughout the day. You can just do your own thing whatever you fancy.

The rooms are kept spotless. They are a good size considering you only really use them to sleep in.

The entertainment is amazing.

The food is great. You couldn’t complain if you tried, all of the waiters and bar staff can’t do enough for you. They make your holiday as special as you want it to be. The drinks vary is great and the food is sensational.

In summary, I think the Destiny is amazing. You make lots of friends along the way and I will be going back for a lot of years to come.

Just got back from our first ever cruise on the Destiny. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The staff were excellent, always helpful, always smiling.

The entertainment staff again excellent (special mention for Kane and Jayne). We spent most of our evenings in the Oklahoma Lounge and were amused and entertained with good holiday fun evenings. The All Inclusive package was well worth it.

In the dining room we had good service and to our surprise singing waiters.

We enjoyed the cruise due to the informal atmosphere on board.

The weather was good and the ports of call were interesting, I especially enjoyed Madeira. Agadir was also interesting and we never felt unsafe or hustled. We didn't take any of the excursions, but found plenty to do for the days in port. Take the ship's bus to Arrecife in Lanzarote; we had problems getting a taxi in the port.

The only minus about the holiday is that the ship is getting a little tired, but staff do keep it immaculately clean. Also not enough sun beds, we are not sun worshippers but found that when we did want an hour in the sun all the sun beds were taken.

All in all well done Thomson Destiny and all her staff.

We have just returned from our first cruise and absolutely loved it. We chose a stay and cruise holiday simply as we wanted to unwind from a long hard slog at work to be in the right frame of mind to take in all a cruise has to offer.

The reason we chose the Thomson Destiny was because it fitted our dates, travel options and the Canaries was the closest to the UK we could travel for some late autumn sun.

I had read the reviews about the Thomson Destiny and did have some concerns. All I can say is, there must be some fussy people out there or they are half pint millionaires who would not/could not afford the top of the range cruises that you can opt for. I am involved in event management at work and can, therefore, be hyper critical!

We had an outside cabin on deck 3 – it was bigger than both of us expected. I've stayed in pokier hotel rooms and certainly ones with less storage. Our cabin stewardess kept it spotless and immaculately tidy at all times. My only moan is that the extractor fan over the shower in the bathroom is so strong that the shower curtain is sucked into the shower and can cling to you.

We did not have an evening meal in the Seven Seas restaurant as the first night we were 1st sitting and we like to eat late. We did change to 2nd sitting but I tried the waiter service for breakfast ad found it rushed – we prefer to linger over a meal so we opted for the Lido buffet instead. We chatted to some people who did say that they had to send a couple of plates back as the food was hot enough.

There was more choice at the Lido buffet and you can mix and match your selections rather than having the exact meal presented to you. The food there was always hot and fresh. There were some nights when the food was better than others; but overall it was good.

I had breakfast either in the Seven Seas restaurant with waiter service or in the Lido buffet depending on where we were or what was happening. Both offered the same full range but you could get freshly made omelettes at the Lido buffet and mugs of tea or coffee. Yes the mugs are plastic - but you can grab a mug whenever you want and take it on deck with you.

For lunch I tended to use the Pool bar for a snack and salad then walk down to the Lido buffet for the pudding of the day with custard! My husband used the Lido buffet for lunch found there was a massive choice. I did indulge in afternoon tea once – just for research you understand!

There was plenty of day time activity to keep you occupied. We did not do any excursions as we had been to all the ports of call before. I am ashamed to say I did not once get off the ship but my husband did have a wander at every port except for Agadir, as the town was miles from the port.

In the evenings, we passed on the shows in the Can Can Lounge as that was not “us”, we enjoyed the fun in the Oklahoma Lounge, we visited the Sky Bar, Blake's and the Clipper Bar and in none did we have difficulties finding a seat nor were we kept waiting for drinks service.

I was impressed by all the staff; polite and as friendly as you wanted them to be. I thought the standard of cleanliness throughout was very good. OK the Thomson Destiny does look a bit tired in some places but it's an old boat and is not looking tired where it counts.

I must comment on the disembarkation process & transfer back to the airport – faultless and smooth.

All in all a great first time cruise. We will do more, we'd like to do one that leaves from the UK just so we can take more glad rags without fear of ruining them in suitcases and trusting others to iron them. I would recommend the Thomson Destiny – ignore the petty whingers.

We have just come back from this 7 day cruise, I can only say that it was fantastic.

There is nothing about it that I would complain about. Food was excellent, entertainment was pure magic, the entertainment team were so professional, they put so much into the shows, and they are a credit to their entertainment director.

Our two waiters in the Seven Seas restaurant John and Ned made our meals a joy with their wit and courteousness, they were so polite it was unbelievable.

Our cabin hostess 'Nataylia' was a pure joy as well, she entertained us with her various animals that would appear on our bed in the evening time made up from the bathroom towels, and she was a gem.

I am planning our next cruise on the Spirit in the Med next May 2008, which I have heard great reports about, so I am in no doubt that it will be up to the same standard as the Destiny.

Our two waiters John and Ned are transferring on to that ship after Xmas so we look forward to seeing them once again on our next voyage.

Just returned from our 1st cruise and it was fantastic. The staff couldn't have been more attentive and the food was wonderful in both of the restaurants. We had the all inclusive drinks package and I think that it was well worth it. The cabin was small but you only sleep, shower and change in there so it was adequate.

The shows were a little disappointing, most of the numbers from the musical I'd never heard before, but the entertainers really worked hard. The guest comedian was very good.

Altogether a brilliant experience and we are already looking to book another cruise next year.

This cruise was first class. No complaints at all. Food really good and service excellent.

We did the toboggan in Funchal Madeira and an organised trip in Agidir Morocco (Tourdant) and enjoyed them both enormously. I suggest an organised trip in Morocco because the area around the port is rather poor.

Take the shuttle bus in Arrecife Lanzarote to the centre because it is a long walk otherwise.

Oh! And watch out for the dolphins out at sea on the way to Morocco.

We were on an inside cabin on deck 5 and can’t fault it.
