Red Roof Inn International Hotel

Let's get this straight: This is an inexpensive, no-frills hotel. If you're looking for swank, this ain't it. This hotel is inexpensive and a block away from one side of the big convention center and about two blocks from the skybridge from the other side. The hotel is in a complex with one convenience store, a market, a Red Lobster, a McDonalds, an IHop, and a 24-hr Denny's. There is also a Days Inn and a Howard Johnsons in the same complex. We stayed at the Red Roof on Nov 26th, 2006. Paid $74.99 a night. I had express check in as Im a Red Roof Redi Card member. Check in was quick and eventless. Staff atteneded to us immediately and were very politeand courteous. They helped us find a place to eat at near by. There are several places to eat near by on International drive. Denny's is close by and a bit further down the road is a TGIF and Olive Garden. It's about a block or less to the convention center. We are originally from Germany. Went on vaccation around US. We arrived in Orlando, Florida at 2 a.m. and because of previous great experiences with Red Roof Inn, we wanted to check in. It took "years" to clerk to come down to the register. He looked sleepy and spoke confusedly. There was just one room available, and the price was higher than was noticed, so we had to think if take it or to go and find another hotel. The clerk was kind of impatient: "You want it or no?! I stayed at the Red Roof Inn while attending a meeting at the Orlando Convention Center. The location just off International Drive is within walking distance of the Convention Center and a short drive to Sea World. This was my first time to stay at a RRI and was pleasantly surprised! The rooms have been renovated so everything was in excellent shape. I stayed in a Business King which included a fridge and microwave along with a large workarea. The location is perfect for the convention center. There's even a walkway connector, using the Rosen hotel next door. The room, bed, and work area were sufficient. The bathroom was not so nice- real budget. The pool area seemed real clean- but I didn't use it. The hotel's by some restaurants and next to the highway for access. I think there are much better choices for families or tourists.

The hotel itself is not that bad.. however, our complete reason in booking this hotel is because it claims to be 'Pet Friendly'. Well, this is only true if you have a mute dog.. if your dog barks, then don't waste your time here. Our first evening at the hotel we went out to dinner, and the dog stayed in the room. Apparently he barked for a bit while we were out.. keep in mind this was around 7pm on a Friday evening. Ok it is a budget hotel. If you are looking for the Ritz stay somewhere else. But this is GREAT for the money. The staff was very nice and helpful. The room is clean. It is in a good location.

I stay at Red Roof Inns a lot because they permit pets. Often they are mediocre, sometimes they are terrific. This RRI was less than mediocre. The best thing it has going is the location -- close to the convention center, and with easy access to all necessary ameneties. Basically, it was dirty. There was an odor that I couldn't get rid of even with perfume. The bathtub was dirty--black footprints--so I chose not to use it. Good clean Hotel, Very good location. Friendly service. Everything as expected for a discount hotel.

This is a typical Red roof property -- clean, but basic. We stayed between Christmas and New Years for under $40 a night, which is very reasonable, and if you're not planning to spend a lot of time in your hotel, this may be just the place for you. A real plus is the fact that it has a hot tub, something most hotels in its price range do not have. The swimming pooll, however, in unheated. Unfortunately, the property is located off International Drive, which is incredibly crowded much of the time. That means you;re close to restaurants... more
