beware anyone who wants to visit MARINA RIVERA! The hotel itself is rather shabby along with the rooms leeking showers, door locks that lock you in your room and room safes that allow your money to be stolen(NEVER LEAVE MONEY IN THE SAFE. MINE WAS STOLEN!) double bed are 2 single beds pushed together which keep separating during The night, pool bar staff are very rude as goes for the recption staff with the exception that they're rude and useless! the food is nothing to talk about. The pool bar food is massivly over priced along with the beer. I was charged 7 euros for a beer thats about £6.50 with the current exchange rate for 1 beer and I only went 2 weeks ago. after 3 days i could no longer take any more so i paid to get an upgrade to a five star hotel which in the end it worked out cheaper for beer and food. they are very unfreindly towards gay couples. in genral i would not reccomend this hotel to anyone.
- Advice: everything is over priced and aimed at conning the tourists
- Activities: none

A big dissapointment at this hotel and pool area. I have complained and Ving´s answer makes me mad. They claim hotel vere renovated in nov/dec 2007 and pool area newbuilt at the same time. That is a lie. But even worse, the hotel can´t be found at there webbpage any more!!! Dpt Riviera Marina don´t exict when I search at there page.
Two others does and one of this where in the "same building" and ***** compared to ouers, dpt, **. Long corridor to reach ouers.
On pictures at Appollo and others one can se the white building nest to a brown/red and that "was" dpt RM.
I don´t know yet if I´m gona get any money back but telling me that this hotel was renovated and the poolarea built in 2007 is a misstace I guess, sinse I acctually have some photos.
Well, chose another hotel, in short.

Was extremely disappointed with this hotel. The brochure description, photos etc were nothing like the accommodation we had during our stay. THe hotel is extremely deceiving as it has has 2 separate blocks (although they are adjoining). The first half of the hotel is as described in the brochure and appeared to house the German residents. The room which we had was very basic inside. Although it was very clean and had a fantastic sea view it was nothing like the advertised rooms and we felt like we had been dumped in the "poor end". I don't know how the tour operators can get away with this as they are advertising the whole of this hotel as a 4 star property when clearly only half of the hotel fits the description in the brochure.

Excellent location for a quiet relaxing holiday, yet within easy reach of not so quiet Puerto Rico (only 3 euros by taxi or 1euro by bus).
Lovely apartments and spotlessly clean. No toaster or kettle but everything else is well equipped. Nearly all apartments have a beautiful sea and pool view. No need to fight for sun loungers either as there are plenty. Maybe ideally suited for the middle aged as no lively night scene here, but great for a quiet nights sleep as most people seem to be in bed by midnight.
Quite a few nice bars and restaurants around. We can highly recommend Bistro 22 which is upstairs in the shopping centre and they serve fabulous food here, at very reasonable cost. Once you have been, I guarantee you will go back. Good English breakfasts also served across the road in the centre (Riviera Marina does not seem to cater for
English breakfasts in any of their restaurants) There is also a great Spar supermarket across the road in the small shopping centre.
I can recommend these apartments.

Fabulous location right on beach with good hotel amenities, entertainment programme during the day was excellent.
Food was average, good choice of continental and cooked breakfast, the same choice every day.
Hotel is very much geared up for German and Dutch residents, however the other hotel within the resort is for English, but we were in German based hotel due to the Riviera Marina being closed for refurbishment.
Self catering facilities were very basic, two cooking rings, a fridge and crockery, etc, but no kettle or toaster.
Rooms were pretty basic as well and could do with upgrading.
Excellent Spar shop close by and few good restaurants, the best of which was 'Bistro 22', superb food at excellent prices and very friendly staff.
Would go back once refurbishment complete, this was a better choice for us than Puerto Rico.

The Hotel suited our needs perfectly, as we have a baby. We found the hotel staff all very polite. There were a lot of German people at the hotel so the entertainment was mainly German orientated to suit them.
But on a night Puerto Rico is only 5 mins and 1 Euro per person to get to on the bus, and about 4 Euros to return in a taxi. The resort itself is very quiet and peaceful, we will definitely be returning.

Poor Service. Receptionists (all but young dark haired girl) very abrupt, unfriendly and unhelpful. Although only one reception was on site it looked after two hotels but the facilities in each hotel were separate and not interchangeable.
Maid service excellent. Pool bar staff did not serve meals initially even though menus were everywhere. This changed after one week and meals were then available. We paid £30 for three people per night to eat in the all inclusive restaurant. Food choice was limited but the quality was OK. Drinks were extra. Sports and activities were very good. Entertainment was OK but a little old fashioned. Taxi drivers very helpful, polite and welcoming as were the restaurateurs. I would recommend a visit to Palmitos Park (Zoo type place and a great parrot show) and also Aqualand (Water park). The waterpark was quite expensive for drinks and food so I would recommend you take your own and get a locker. I would not recommend Riviera Marina hotel or Gran Canaria to anyone. The service to tourists has become very poor in recent years and I will not be returning.

We had a very good time there- I was very suprised, after that all bad coments about Riviera Marina. People were nice and helpful and they have spoken quite good in english. We had half board, so we had breakfast between 7.30-10.30 am and dinner between 7pm- 9pm- food was good and enough to keep you healthy. About 100meters from resort is a supermarket, were you can buy a food quite cheap if you gonn feel hungry, fex, you can by beans, meat balls, macaroni and pasta, pizza, lasagne, german, english and spanish food and fresh bread.
Room we have had with balcony, all were with air condition. Comfortable beds, tv for free, nice and clean shower and toilet. Rooms were cleaned every day.
In a pools clean and warm water, new hammock chair, comfortable and you need to put only towel on it, which you could find in your room, you don't need to pay for it, even for parasol.
Our accomodation finised before 12 pm, and flight we had with Thomas Cook 2.30 am, so they let us to stay utill 10.45 pm for free, at that time we had ouer bus for airport. We needed to buy only a dinner, but it was only 15 euro per persn, very cheap and good meal. Every evening waas something from grill, fish or meat, also we had: spaghetti, pasta, chips, baked potatoes, different sauces, a lot fruits and vegetables, lovely cakea for pudding, fresh baking. for breakfast: lots of cheeses, cottage ones as well, beans, sausages, eggs- frizzle, scramble, boiled; bacon, muesli, salads with mayoneise or without, drinks for free,; tea, coffee, milk, fresh juices. you need to paid only for drinks at dinner time, but they are not expensive.
Location is good, near the ocean, the beach has dark sand, so you need to be aware of that, but we haven't any problems with that, the water not to deep on edge- good for children. Near Puerto Rico, bus only 2.40 euro for two, only a few meters to bus station.
Big shooping center in puerto rico, in deeper than cheaper and better stuff.
