Express By Holiday Inn Hotel Reviews

6 / 10
Aug 2006, Mrs S Callaghan

Great base to visit Stratford-upon-Avon (8 miles away) and Warwick. Plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. Room was slightly small for 2 adults and 2 children but on a deal of £49 per night including breakfast I certainly can't grumble. Breakfast was a bit hectic... more

Great Family Hotel
My family, including two young children aged 6 & 4 have stayed at this hotel for two nights just after Christmas. It is a wonderful hotel for a family with young children. They have double size bed and then a fold out sofa bed. Sofa bed not as comfortable as double, but was fine for my children to sleep on. The breakfast was your normal cereal, toast, croissants, yoghurt, coffee, tea and even little donuts and muffins! (and best of all it's free)! Also parking is free. The hotel is situated on Jct 15 of M40 and i have to say i was suprised that you really couldn't hear the noise of the motorway. The hotel has a great pub "Porridge Pot" which is quite reasonable. The same establishment even houses a children's indoor play area - great for the kids! Overall, a great hotel to stay in especially if you have young children!
Perfectly fine and good location
We stayed for a night with our 12 year old daughter in late october. We arrived at 2.30pm and were able to check in with no problems. The room had a double bed and a double sofa bed, which was already made up and ready to use. Both were comfortable enough and the bedding clean. The bathroom was also clean and there was a good supply of towels for the 3 of us. The room was a bit smaller than average, but as we were only staying 1 night this wasn't really a problem for us. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was nothing special but perfectly adequate. We booked 2 weeks in advance on the Holiday Inn website and paid only £49 all in. For this price i would say it was good value for money. As the hotel is just off the M40 it is easy to find and was only 20min. drive from Stratford and 5 min. from Warwick itself. If we were visiting Stratford to see the RSC we would certainly consider this hotel.
pleasant stay
used hotel as base to explore warwick and a trip to the R.S.C to see a performance. Have stayed at quite a few Holiday Inns and HI express and this hotel was clean, with good decor, friendly and efficient staff adequate continental breakfast and comfy beds. Also very convenient for evening trip to theatre. would definitely use again as a base for sightseeing and theatre. No problems whatsoever. Price also reasonable.
No problems to report
I stayed here for a couple of nights while attending an event nearby. I booked in advance and so just had to give my name at reception to receive my welcome envelope with key, car park permit and receipt. The room was spacious and well equipped - I think the property had a refit last year. There was a large group of us staying and the staff were really helpful as we did have a few interesting requests. In agreement with the other posting there is a lot of traffic noise if you sleep with the windows open. All in all a perfectly adequate budget hotel - no problems and at a reasonable price.
Would not go back
When we arrived we waited in reception will the staff had a chat until one of them asked if they could help! She was unfriendly and not very helpful. In the room it was small and smelt funny. The sink leaked everytime you ran water and the bathroom was flooded. When my husband asked for them to book a taxi he said they were not very nice about it and said they would see what they could do! He also asked about local services and the women behind the recpetion said she did not know the area! The noise from the road near by was bad. And as it was very hot we had to keep the windows open which ade sleeping not good. All in all great area but for £70 a night its a joke - we would not stay there again
Super stay
A super hotel near to everything! We paid £72 per room b and b per night and it was excellent value. The hotel is right on Junction 15 - alittle noisy with the window open but once it was closed no problems. The rooms are excellent - excellent facilities - modern, very clean, very friendly, very quiet (we never hear a sound from anyone else), with everything you need. Having a vending machine for sandwiches etc was great. There is a large pub next door (rather like a Brewers Fayre) with a Wacky Warehouse for families. It was great to have a meal / drink and have no pressure re driving! It was excellent value ------------ as for Warwick Castle - we paid £15 each and spent a fabulous 5 hours there ------------ we could have spent more. We will be back ------ this is the second Holiday Inn Express we have been to and it wont be the last Super
Pleasant surprise
My family and I (two teenage boys) used the Holiday Inn at Warwick in order to visit the castle in Warwick - 1 night only. We had two twin rooms next to each other and found them to be spacious, modern and very clean. The service was fine. The breakfast was pleasant too. Even though we were a stones throw from the M40 our the surroundings were very green and our rooms overlooked a nice bit of grass! I would happily recommend it - good value. (The castle was excellent too).
Good hotel, good price, convenient.
If you're looking for a clean, convenient hotel, this is a good choice. The front desk staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The lobby area was clean and the continental breakfast was adequate to get us on our way. The room was very clean and very roomy, although there was a strong smell of cleaning product causing us to leave the window opened for a few hours to air it out. We paid 35 GBP and feel that it was a good price for our stay. We would definitely stay at this hotel if ever in the Warwick area again.
TYpical HIE
A typical Holiday Inn Express – basic but clean Rooms are satisfactory & the staff are pleasant & friendly. Breakfast included in price. Fine for an overnight stay – or if you need somewhere to house a family overnight in 1 room.
Great hotel
This is my most frequently visited hotel and it's my favourite in Warwick. You get exactly what you pay for and I've never had any problems there at all. It's not much more than a bed by the motorway - but that's OK because that's all it claims to be (unlike the grotty Hilton opposite). If you are a light sleeper it's worth asking for a quiet room if they have one available. Breakfast is complementary which consists of continental style - croissants, toast, orange juice, cereals and yoghurt. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a budget hotel in the Warwick area. It doesn't have the charm of a Warwick town B&B but it's a good hotel to stay in if you want to be near Warwick based companies or the NEC at Birmingham. It's always clean and well maintained.
