Six friends and I stayed at the Heaton House Farm on route from Kidsgrove to Disley completing the three day 35mile Gritstone Trail.
We had been walking for 14 miles when we arrived in the village and Mick from the Farm insisted on coming to collect us from the pub - saving us another miles walk up a busy road to the Farm. This one piece of generosity and thoughtfulness was reflective of the excellent care we received for the duration of our stay. They then drove us back and picked us up again from a local pub for dinner (at the bottom of the hill food was excellent).
Run by the family the working farm was a well designed and welcoming place with the old and the new blended together very well. Despite having two weddings on that weekend in their converted barn we felt that they spent a great deal of time making sure our stay was as restful and homely as we were looking for.
The rooms were clean, bright, well kitted out with generous additions like biscuits in the tin in the self catering lofthouse. The rooms were beautifully decorated not too modern but not a piece of chintz in sight. My partner and I stayed in the Loft house which had spectacular views across three counties. This room was en-suite others had a separate bathroom down the hall - all were very clean and convenient.
The breakfast was gorgeous with handmade giant sausages and an excellent selection of homemade jams and cereal and a full English. The whole stay was excellent value for money!
We will definitely go back, and for longer, and would recommend them for a relaxing stay with plenty of fantastic countryside for hiking on the doorstep. We had a peak at the set up for the first wedding of the weekend as well and it looked magical!
