Gaylord Palms Resort Hotel

The Gaylord Palms is a great place to stay when participating in a convention with spacious facilities, good communication and business facilities. My 5 year old daughter and I tagged along with my husband to a conference at the Gaylord Palms. When we drove up, my daughter asked if it was a castle! The hotel contains a beautiful humungous atrium with a winding boardwalk through lush vegatation, waterfalls, alcoves, shops, restaurants. Our room, which had a small balcony, overlooked a restaurant in the form of a sailboat on a pond that did tend to be noisy (patrons, live music), but everything shut down around 11:00 pm. No one could have ever convinced me to stay anywhere other than the Grand Floridian, Beach or Yacht Club Hotels at WDW until they were booked during my visit in April. (They did have small studio rooms with parking lot views for 375./per night!) A friend recommended we try Gaylord Palms. It was one of the finest hotels we have ever stayed in! Stayed at this resort in April, 2003. Beautiful hotel, the inside atrium is gorgeous! My kids loved to explore the pathways, waterfalls, and caves. The Octopus pool was fun and relaxing. Need to stay in the Old Key West section to easily reach the pool. Our room was standard, nothing special, but we landed a great rate ($109) via an Internet special on Orbitz. Stayed at this large and generously appointed hotel for a great rate that I found on the net.Check in was smooth, resort fee covers water and OJ. and local newpaper.When we got to our St. Augustine room with a atrium view we discovered only one bottle of OJ in the otherwise empty refrig. We called and more OJ and water were brought to the room.Room only had a shower but I noticed a certain sulfur smell in the water anyway, I wouldn't want to soak in that smell and I believe that is why they give out the drinking water and OJ. It was a nice hotel, but on the pricey scale. The resturants were on the high side. You are kind of isolated so you will definitely need to get a rental car. I think anywhere you stay, you'll need wheels. For young children, stick with Disney! At nite Downtown Disney was great and don't miss the fireworks at Epcot. The view was special form thw English Pub. Have dinner there outside facing the lake.

This property was incredibly spectacular. I truly exceeded both my my and my 8-year old sons expectations. We stay in the Emerald Bay with an atrium view (which is spectacular). The view is unbelievable and filled with enough activities for my son to stay bosuy and myself. The food was pretty good overall. I will definitely stay there again as soon as possible.

This hotel is nice no question about it. However, it is more geared for the convention and adult crowd. It does not offer much for kids. In an age when the pools at major resorts have become spectacular these pools are average at best. The Disney Beach and Yacht Club is better for children.

Wonderful place or should a city within orlando. Fun place for the whole family. Very relaxing atmosphere, rooms was a delight, unlike disney's gloomy rooms. The food was expensive and so so - take a chance at your risk. Overall definitely recommend for a stay. This is coming from who have stayed in many of the disney resort, from cheap ones to expensive ones.

We recently stayed at Gaylord Palms Resort & were delighted to find a hotel in Orlando catering to adults! We were upgraded at check in to one of the hotel's best rooms, even though we booked online at a discount website. Rooms were spotless, with upscale decor, marble bath and fridge which was stocked daily with orange juice and bottled water...all we could drink.
