Apartments are spotless and cleaned on a daily basis with bedding and towels changed every other day. Pool lovely overlooking beach.
Apartments described as self catering but facilities very limited, with no space to prepare food if you wished to do so.
George speaks very good English and is very helpful with information, taxi booking etc. Barbeque night on Fridays good fun.
Two supermarkets nearby sell everything you need (even newspapers now!) and staff very friendly.
Only down side is costs of sun beds, both around pool and on beach. 2 euros each, so for family of 4 adds an amount to your budget. (If you plan on staying around the hotel this must be paid, as you are NOT allowed to lie on the grass!)Also 5 euros per room per night for air con. However would definitely go back...booking again for next summer.

Just spent 2 weeks in Prinos, Thassos. The hotel we stayed at was excellent, lovely pool, great bar, and George who runs the hotel couldn’t do enough for you. The rooms in the hotel are quite big by Greek standards - as is the bathroom. Although the self catering facilities were spotless (as was the entire hotel) they were poor. One pan, toaster, kettle, 2 rings!!
The views over to Kavala were great (you could sit and watch a storm coming towards you)!
The resort itself was very quiet - as though it wasn’t quite open yet! 6 tavernas. 'The Nest' was very good and the chap you ran the taverna spoke excellent English. Overall the food (and we went to all outlets) was excellent and served hot! Wonderful supermarket selling most necessities. It has a nice stretch of beach but it is very narrow. Very safe for children - you have to go out 80m to find depths of 1 metre!
Scala Prenou boasts a small port with a hydrofoil and ferries to Kavala. We didn’t find anything worth reporting in Kalava but they do have a very nice M&S!
Overall: for a 2 week break of pure relaxation you can’t beat it. Excellent for Mum and Dad with 2.4 kids - the children can only ask for ice creams - there isn’t anything else!
Against: Not much really. No newspapers - nearest place for papers is Thassos (bus ride 1 Euro).
Would we go again: Certainly! but perhaps not the last week in May first in June. Same hotel: Of course.
Important: Very, very safe resort.
Noise: Only when a goal is scored!!

We stayed at the Socrates the first week of June.
Our 7 am flight from Birmingham left after a 2 hour plus delay which meant we missed our 'slot' for the coach transfer from the airport. We had to wait about 40 minutes for the coaches to come back after transporting the Manchester flight (which landed a few minutes before).
Finally arrived at the Socrates at 6 pm! Check in at the hotel was very quick (thankfully). The Socrates is in a lovely position right on the beach and was very safe for children.
At first, we thought it might be too quiet for our son (who is 12) but he was happy on the beach and in the pool. George, his mother, and Arti cannot do enough to make your holiday enjoyable. The week we were in Thassos, there was a really good crowd in the hotel which made for some good evenings in the bar. George always took time to chat to everyone.
The rooms are a bit on the small side but if you get a pool view (which we didn't) this makes up for it. The week we were there we had 2 days/nights of rain which made it impossible to explore (one night we couldn't leave the hotel because the rain was so bad).
We hired a jeep for a couple of days but didn't really see everything we wanted to because our son wanted to get back to the hotel!! There are only about 6 restaurants and 8 bars in Skala Prinou and we never had a bad meal. Our favourite restaurants were the Nest (everything perfect including complimentary apple/cinnamon cake), Zorbas (grilled feta with peppers and onions to die for) and Panorama (huge portions).
Everyone was very friendly and we found prices for meals very reasonable.
Thassos is definitely on my list of places to visit again (as soon as possible).
