This is the second time my boyfriend and i have been to the Alexandros and now that we are home we cant wait to go back. Sissi its self is perfect. It has everything you need on holiday whilst still being miles apart from malia. I have honestly spent the best weeks of my life there. The harbour is beautiful and is ull of places to eat and drink. The hotel its self offers fabulous food and the cocktails are great to.The greek night at the hotel isgreat fun, the hotel is clean and the family are so friendly i didnt want to leave.I would highly recommend the alexandros to couples and familys.

We stayed in the Alexandros from the 12/6 - 26/06. The linen on the beds were changed every 3 days. The towels every day if you wanted them. We paid for the air conditioning for 13 days and it was well worth it. Also, there were a lot of mosquito's about another reason to have the air conditioning. The temperatures averaged between 33 and 36 whilst we were there. Breakfast was very good with greek yoghurt and honey. Also there was hard boiled eggs, bread, jam, ham and cheese. A good coffee machine which you could have latte, cappuchiino etc. Swimming pool was very clean and immaculate. Jimmy came to the rescue with first aid when I fell over (not drinkink). Thanks again Jimmy. A new indonesian restaurant called Madame Jeanette opened whilst we were out there. The food was excellent. This is next door to the Sissi arms. Mikes Place was another good place to eat. If you like pork chops they are wonderful. You can find him almost opposite the taxi station. He sits outside his place about 6.30pm and tells you the plate of the day. We ate there 8 times.
Excellent accommodation situtated in lovely, charming little fishing village.

Just back from a weeks stay at the Alexandros Appt. with my mum. Had a lovely relaxing stay. The hotel was perfect, very clean with lovely friendly staff and a quite pool. The breakfast was basic but spotless dining area and coco pops and corn flakes for when youve had enough of bread, cheese and jam, Situated about a 10min walk from the harbour which is a nice walk after dinner and despite a little noise from a local hotel was always quite after 11.30pm. The walk to the beach is just over 1km (take comfy sandals!) but not bad if you stop in the harbour for refreshments on the walk back or stop at the bakery for a giant doughnut. The hotel has two supermarkets close by which are reasonably priced with a great selection and handy for getting bottled water supplies. We've had a great relaxing break doing very little other than eating and sunbathing and the hotel has met our every needs... just avoid the coleslaw as it looks a bit like worms! Melissa 21, Jill (mum) Ps. Dont forget to try the amazing Italian! :)
Fantastic holiday, great hotel, friendly people

We have just returned from a great time at the Alexandros apartments in Sissi, Crete and I can definitely confirm it will not be our last time at this beautiful little family run hotel. I try to be honest in these posts and always give the downsides to any place ive stayed aswell the good points but I dont have a bad word to say about the Alexandros. It is clean, friendly, the food is great and the pool area is perfect. The rooms are spotless and compact and the communal areas of the hotel are very comfortable. The cleaner is in every day with fresh towels and air conditioning is 6 Euro per day. Our stay was made even more enjoyable by the lovely people who own the hotel. To Maria, Litsa, Dimitris, Manos and Maria, thanks for making us feeling so welcome...also to little Rico for keeping us entertained. The hotel is literally 5 minute walk to the harbour and 10 minutes to the beach. Sissi is a beautiful village with lovely restaraunts and bars, you wont find any mad rave clubs and we were happy with that. I would certainly reccomend the Alexandros to anyone, Crete is a beautiful island, check it out now!!
Wonderful stay at Alexandros Hotel Sissi

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel, a friendly family run hotel. I can echo the previous reviews which mention the cleanliness it was immaculate. Would definately recommend the Greek Barbeque night which is held on a Sunday , everyone participated in this event from the guests to the majority of the family members of the hotel. Pool was also immaculately clean with plenty of sunbeds to choose from. There was a TV in the room which was free, there was also a gym which had a good selection of weight machines. Sissi is lovely, nice and relaxing holiday, plenty of restaurants to choose from. A previous review mentions that the restaurants overlooking the harbour are more expensive, we in fact found that the harbour restaurants were cheaper than the ones in the village. There is a local bus service to Ag Nik, Malia, Hersonnisos but there is only 1 bus in the morning out of Sissi at 9.30 - 9.45am and 1 bus back from Hersonnisos at 4.30pm. If you want a relaxing holiday then I would definately recommend Sissi and the Alexandrao Hotel, cannot fault the weather, clear blue skys all week with temperatures of 27 - 35.
Enjoyed our stay

On arrival we were shown to a room overlooking the road, but had been told by the travel agent all rooms had a pool or seaview. After explaing this to the owners we were told no problem then allocated a room with a pool view. The room was clean with a kitchenette complete with two rings, crockery & cutlery & fridge. Breakfast was also included typical Greek breackfast, bread (lovely fresh crusty bread) boiled eggs, ham & cheese slices, butter, jam Greek yogurt and honey. There was also cornflakes & coco pops available. You are after all in Greece, so why do people moan because it is not bacon & eggs. If you wanted anything different the pool side bar served other breakfasts. Maria & Litta (sisters) were very friendly and helpful. We ate in one night in the room (bowl of soup etc) and I ate at the hotel as my partner was not well for a couple of days, the pork chop was absolutley beautiful. We also liked eating at Marimare on the Harbour and Pink Flamingo opposite the Sissi Arms pub (their Lamb Kleftico was wonderful and omlettes lovely & light. The quiz night in thr Sissi Arms was a good night. Car hire from Smile was far more reasonable then booking through the rep. We paid 20 euros more for 7 days than 3 days with the rep. Thank you Maria & Litta for looking after us.
A great hotel!

Our third trip to Crete and our second trip to Sissi! A delightful little fishing village with a great selection of restaurants but more of that later. We stayed in the Alexandros from 12 June to 26 June 2008. The Alexandros is a charming, smallish family run hotel with the most friendly and helpful "staff" (ie the owners!). It's all been said in previous reviews about the cleanliness but I would like to re-iterate that I have never stayed anywhere where the emphasis on cleaning was so obvious. They are to be congratulated. The village/harbour at Sissi is just a perfect place to unwind after a hard day sunbathing and nothing beats sitting at the Crazy Golf Bar (on the east side of the harbour walk - leaving the harbour) watching the sunset before going to get something to eat. A litre of wine there will set you back 6 euros whereas you will pay 7 euros for a half litre on the harbourside in some of the more expensive restaurants! Take note! Mama Mia restaurant was a huge let down. I got the worst lasagne I've ever tasted/seen anywhere. I didn't complain as it was our first night and I didn't want to start the holiday with a moan, but we discovered that two other separate residents of our hotel tried it throughout their stay and one couple actually complained and were told "they didn't need their sort of business" Not very good public relations in my opinion, considering the shortage of customers being experienced this year. A restaurant to find is Anatoli's which is one road back from the harbourside (turn left after the Jewelers and head towards The Sissi Mare Hotel) and it's on the right hand side. The owner and his wife and daughter (we think) run a very good, friendly authentic greek restaurant. It became so popular during our fortnight with guests from our hotel that some nights it was like the hotel dining room!!! All in all, we would go back to Sissi/Alexandros Hotel in a flash - planning to visit next year, even if it's just part of our touring holiday which we are planning. Thanks to all and see you again some time next year. Nikki and Mark
Great place to stay, lovely & quiet
from MikeBR
We booked this as a last minute deal with 'Thomas Cook' having read reviews on other sites. The hotel sits on the edge of the lovely little town of Sisi which is on the north coast of Crete towards the eastrn end. The hotel is family run and is spotlessly clean [if they had served breakfast on the floor I would have had happly ate it] We were on B&B and for the cost it was very good value with buffet breakfast of choice cereal, cold ham, sliced cheese, tomatoes, Plain Greek youghurt to which you could add honey or jams [Really yummy] and hard boiled eggs as well as bread & butter coffee & a variety of teas. We had room 202 which had a balcony which faced the sea over a quiet residential row of properties. Room 202-210 [even numbers only] have the same views and even better are 302-310 [even numbers only] and get a great sunset. other rooms overlook the pool and some fae the front. Air Con is avalible at €6 per day. The room also has a 2 ring stove & fridge if you want to DIY cooking [2 supermarkets within 200mts] There are a good variety of restaurants very close by where a 3 course with wine will cost under €35 for two. Slightly further away but under 600mts is the very lovely harbour where prices are a little more expensive, but you also have Etam-Etam 'Doner' sit in or take away where you can have a 'Gyros' [Doner] and 500ml of beer for €4.50. The harbour area has a great little beach which is great for swimming & snorkling and you can hire a 'sun bed' for €3 a day or take you own towel for free. We visited begining of July and it was very very quiet [Local business told us they had never know it so quiet] you could walk do th main street and not hear a car or Quad bike but there were plenty for hire. We found the Alexandros a great place to stay and Sisi a great little town which was very quiet and a great place for a 'Chill Out' holiday [nothing open after 12 midinght]
Basic but good place to stay
from hoolihound
We found the Hotel Alexandros (family run) to be basic, clean and the staff (the owners) really friendly and helpful. The hotel was slightly out of the main town which suited us as we prefer to be in a quiet spot - which it would have been but for a recently-opened place close by which had loud music into the early hours. Sisi was very picturesque around a lovely harbour but the beautifully positioned tavernas were spoinlt by having those dreadful photo boards outside almost every place showing what the food looked like. As they all seemed to sell the same food, we assumed it was pre-packaged. When we go abroad, we like to eat the food of the country and not egg, chips and beans and certainly don't need a photo to shows what it looks like!! Too many English pub-type places as well. During our stay we went on the Jeep Safari which was brilliant . Lunch was laid on at a proper Greek taverna and the food was delicious. Can certainly recommend.
