just returned from the most memorable holiday EVER! we satyed at the alexandros for 2 weeks, i dont know where to start to detail just how fantastic it was! we arrived at 1am to a very walm welcome from manos and maria who was on the bar, we were shown to out room by manos who also carried my case. althought it was very late maria stayed open so we could have a drink at the bar and also a snack to eat! although brakfast is the same everyday we were aware that it was continental from the booking so this was not a problem. It amazed me how many people expect to go to greece a get served an ENGLISH breakfast, although for a small charge you could upgrade to a full english. the rooms were very clean and beds changed and rooms cleaned EVERY DAY! as for he rest of the hotel; you could eat your food off the floor it is spotlessly clean! we spent most of the days lounging by the pool with cocktails and had lunch from the very wide range of snacks available! the restaurant food i would class as 5 star cuisine. we ate out a few times in the horbour but found that the food was not amazing for the price we paid. at the hotel we coud have an amazng dinner with drinks and desert (home made cake) for very cheap in comprrison to the horbour! The entertainment at the hotel was fab, being a 3 star hotel we didnt expect entertainment so were very pleased, we had a a quizz inwhich we won a wooden spoon for coming last but was a great night. Another night we played bingo which was hillarius. And dont make plans for sunday night as you are in for a treat with the live singer they have there, who is amazing. The owners cannot do enough for you and that made the holiday very personal and that bit more special. mama and manos are the amazing cooks and nana who prepares the spuds lol. litsa and maria are wonderfull hosts who are always on hand to answere any questions, the added family member kylie who is english and absolutly mad, if ever you fancy a party she is sure to arrange just that. All in all we thourouly enjoyed every minute. we have been back for just a wek but have already booked to return in september and we are counting down the days. if you are heading to the alexandros you are in for a real treat. i think some people shoud stick to butlins if they think that this is anything but outstanding for a greek island!
- Advice: if you like a bit of entertsainment then stick around as there was nothing going on in the village

we have just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel, would definitely not recommend. The rooms were unclean, ours was never mopped, the toilet, basin and shower, including tiles, never wiped. Mirrors smeared and again not cleaned. Pillows stained, no pillowcases, smelt of nicotine. Our bottom sheets were never changed, towels changed once in the week. Room was like being in a hostel, small white with no character and full of mossies. The food was poor, thick white bread, and we only eat brown, cheese, ham and very hard boiled cold eggs. Juice was watered down and the urn didnt get hot, so lukewarm tea and coffee. No entertainment in the week, the promised Cretan night and barbecue just didnt happen. The owners referred to the people staying as "the tourists". We felt the owners had false smiles all the time. We had no private facilities after midday on our last day, and our flight wasnt until 2.20am the next day. We were told to shower in a foot wash in the public toilets with no hairdryer, mirror or sockets to plug in an appliance. And no lock on the door, totally unacceptable. The pool was never cleaned either!!!

Have just returned from Alexandros with mixed thoughts. We stayed B&B. Breakfast was bread & cereal & hard boiled eggs. We expected maybe fruit with meat &/or cheese. The meals however, that you could buy was amazing. The bedrooms were very plain. We didnt have our beds changed during our weeks stay. We stripped bed at the end of stay & was shocked at the mattress. There were huge stains & the pillows were the same. If a little more care was spent on those things, it would make it a fab place to stay.

People rave about this hotel and about the family that runs it.I'm sorry to be the fly in the ointment but I found the hotel management less than helpful and often downright surly. They appreciate stereotype guests with pat responses but do not appear to want to talk to people who want to know a little about their country- the family know little about the area or Cretan culture and history. They have a keen eye for the business and the profit motive. Time is money and they'll give you five minutes- anything longer appears to be beyond the call of duty Breakfast is an appaling afair and the exact same each morning- there is never any fruit (in a country with he best fruit on the planet) and very little that's healthy. We are vegetarian and the family had little time or patience for that. If you want to meet real Greek people go to the villages. If you want "Greek" nights and to feel like tourist fodder sit tight- you've come to the right spot.
This family and this hotel is Crete for the most undiscerning tourist and the place is massively overrated. Characterless.

Just returned from staying at the Alexandros hotel, booking to go back...and I can honestly say I'm not the sort of person to go back to the same place twice!
All the family were fantastic and made some great friends including other guests. I've never seen and felt a family work so hard to make our holiday so perfect! Love to them all!
The hotel itself was spotless in every way from clean bed linen every day to the wonderful oasis of the pool...much needed sometimes!
The food was delightful and after trying the local tavernas a few times soon realised we were much better off trying mama's home cooking and Manos's culinery expertise....no better place for traditional home cooked Cretian food.
Thanks to Maria Jimmy for sharing a toast or few....and a good laugh at the bar on an evening... we miss them all especially grandma x

excellant and first class. everyone was really helpful pool and accomodation very clean and room service second to none. located in a quiet area with about 400 mtr to all bars and restaurants. enjoyed our stay and will return next year. air conditioning charged at 6 euro a night which is a good rate. best bar and restaurant visited was fishermans restaurant, owner is slightly mad but staff very proffesional and had a great meal and last night drinks.

Our First visit to Crete & Sissi. The Alexandros is a small family run hotet/appartments on the edge of the delightful small fishing village Sissi. The hotel is spotlessly clean and there is always [24/7] a member of the family on hand to cater for your every need or answer questions. Good buffet breakfast of cold meats, cheese, bread, tomatoes, cereal & yoghurt ans as much coffee / tea / friut juise as you can drink. 600 mts away is the lovely quiet harbour with small beach which is great for swimming or snorkling. lots of good resturants some round the harbour to cater for all prices & tastes, but best of all not a 18-30 in sight.
