What a fabulous holiday, we've just got back from Victoria Playa Hotel in Santo Tomas in Menorca, July/August 2010.Transfer time was about 30 minutes. First impressions of the hotel was really good, you see it as you go along the road, very imposing at the far end of the resort. The food is excellent, buffet style and there is plenty to go round. There is plenty of seating and the waiters show you to a table each time. The rooms are basic but very clean (done every day)the balcony is small but has a clothes airer and table and chairs. The entertainment team go above and beyond to make sure everyone has a great time, from morning splash time to dancing with the kids at 11 o'clock at night. The only downside are the sun beds, there are not enough and if you want one you have to be up very early and put your towel on them. The large beach is just outside the hotel gates and is very clean and more than enough room, you can walk for ages in the sea, very clean and warm as well!! The resort itself is very quiet and there is only one cash point which runs out of cash in high season, the resort has a few shops, a crazy golf and that is it.

We had a week at the Vicoria Playa in July and it was fantastic. My children (aged 4 and 7) had their best holiday yet, they spent most days in the pool. The pools were fab, they esp. liked the splash pool, will say however that the main pool is very deep in the middle, and therefore did not feel comfortable when the kids were in there unless one of us were too. Another thing about the pool is that you need to get up before 7am to get a sunbed, felt ridiculous doing this the first morning but it is the only way to get them.
Apart from this everything else was fab: the food great, but ate far too much - loved the fish and salads, the entertainment was non stop, team very nice, esp. Greg. The evening entertainment was really good for the kids, but the later shows were a bit cheesy, but still fun. The beach is so close, and the sea is lovely, you can go out really far as its very shallow. The rooms are quite small but lovely, and very clean, be careful of the stairs on the bunk beds, as the are not fixed. We met lots of nice people and the kids made friends very easily by the pool, I only wish we went for 10 days as a week wasn't long enough.

We have just got back from here and overall it was a fantastic holiday.
The kids reps were excellent, my son didn't want to leave them he loved them so much.
Entertainment reps Greg & Mikaela really gave their all, There were things to do all the time, jenga, shuffleboard, darts, killer pool, target bean bag, golf, poolside quiz, water polo, volleyball, hamster ball, aquasplash or just lazing by the pool!
Evenings entertainment was a kids disco, followed by cash prized bingo (we won twice!!! ) and then an act was on, we only saw the magician and he was poor!
Food was adequate, good selection of fish & meat dishes and salads. No complaints really because we never went hungry! I was just desperate for a bit of garlic, none of the food seemed to have any in!! None of us were ill so really can't complain.
Newspapers arrived daily and we had BBC1, cbeebies and CBBC in the room. There were also plenty of tv's downstairs in the bar with sky on.
5 computers, charging 1 euro for 15 mins, public phone just outside hotel.
Rooms were cleaned daily except sunday.
Unfortunately the walls were paper thin. Next door seemed to have forgotten that they had a baby, its crying kept us awake, the room above wore stilletoes 24 hours a day, the other next door were shouting and the people across the corridor were very noisy when they came in from the bar. And we asked for a quiet room!
We had 2 double beds, one was rock hard, one was too soft, the balcony was tiny, we had to move the table into the bathroom! There was also no where to store your suitcases! We had to put them under the sink!
Reception & Bar service was excellent and friendly.
Beach was lovely and sandy, clear sea, shallow so safe for small children. It was literally a minutes walk.
Sunbeds & pool were ok, we needed to get a bed between 6-7am if you wanted a brolly, there were others under the trees though. The pool was very deep in the middle, not really enough shallow water for the kids so they were congregated at the shallow end! The splash pool was fantastic, a monkey filled a bucket of water which tipped onto the kids, they loved it!!
Overall it was great and we would recommend it, we wouldn't return though as the romms were too noisy!

food awful..
thompson reps awful..
kids splash pool should be monitored. plastic chairs were taped to sides to stop children climbing not very health and safety conciouss, our little boy grazed his chin on one of the chairs.
doesnt cater for younger children.
if you want to sit on balcony after putting your kids to bed the lights go out at 11pm!!!!!!!!!!!!
save your money look elsewhere......

my mum (nickname: sunny) has just written a review that I didn't like the sound of so I am going to write 'THE TRUTH'.... In my opinion the Hotel was tremendous just as last year when we went, the only problem this time was that the food had dulled down which is why I never gave it 10, In the restaurant they served lasagne 3 days running which wasn't that bad because there was more of a variety of foods as well as the lasagne e.g. meatballs, chips, lots of different vegetables, chicken, pork, beef etc... and not to mention the delicious desserts, mmmmmmm they were sooo good, nobody could actually beat the desserts they had. The room was very clean as was the pool and beach. But the room had a slight problem which was one of the beds (very springy)

went to this hotel last year and really enjoyed it which is why we decided to go back.unfortunately the food was awful this time .the hotel decided to be all inclusive I think this was a big mistake as it attracts the wrong sort of people sometimes.our room was very clean and we had a lovely view of the pool and the sea/beach.the area is superb especially if you have children it was the food, entertainment and non service this time which let it down for us.i also suffered with a very painful neck and back due to the very springy mattress on my bed could not wait to get in my own bed.like i said we really enjoyed this hotel last year its a shame its gone slightly downhill.

Good All Inclusive Hotel for families

This is for all those people who used to go on holiday to explore the country and enjoy the food and wine but now have children and are thinking will this all inclusive holiday be ok! Having read the reviews which were mixed and after having dithered too long and missed the opportunity of a free child place I finally decided to go for it and book the holiday. The hotel is in a good location, the transfer is only 30 minutes, the rooms were clean and we had a sea view. There was a good choice of food at breakfast lunch and dinner. It was all buffet style and at breakfast you had the choice of fruit, yogurts, croissants, a hot breakfast etc. For lunch and dinner there is a big salad selection and always a choice of two sorts of meat, a fish dish, pasta dish and choice of vegetables, followed by a large selection of cakes etc. There is a children’s buffet too but more often than not it was chicken nuggets and chips but our daughter was quite happy eating from the main buffet selection. Our little girl is nearly three and she ate well throughout the whole holiday. Beer and wine is on tap at lunch and dinner and in the bar between 11:00 – 23:00, the wine’s ok and once you’ve had a couple of glasses it tastes fine! Having a young child I think the AI option was the right move and the food trays were always replenished before they were empty so everything was fresh even if you went down to dinner late. If you were to go self catering there didn’t seem to be many restaurants in the resort. There is a beach bar by the hotel and at the other end of the beach there is restaurant/bar which looked like it had a good menu and had a tribute night one evening when we walked past. The hotel as a whole was of a good standard and everywhere was clean. The pool area was large and if you don’t want to sit round the pool there is a nice grass area with lots of trees that you can put your sunbed under and look out to sea. Unfortunately people feel that they have to get up at 05:30 to reserve a sunbed, so it may be difficult to get one. There is a play area for younger children and one for older children and on the terrace outside the dining room there are bikes and cars for the toddlers to play on. We didn’t use the kids clubs as our daughter isn’t quite three yet but there are purpose built wooden cabins for the kids clubs, the facilities looked good and the children all seemed to have a good time. Entertainment was provided in the evening and if you didn’t want to sit and watch that there are lots of tables and chairs outside. My daughter really enjoyed the Disney themed evening, it didn’t start until about 21:30 and finished at 23:00 which I thought was just a bit too late for the children to fully enjoy and it would have been better if it had started earlier. The beach is right on the doorstep and it was a long stretch of beach with shallow water for a long way out. The cost of hiring two sunbeds and an umbrella was Euro 17 so buy an umbrella and a couple of mats or lilo’s from the local shop and save some Euro’s. Also, by the pool there is a covered area where people leave there inflatables etc. when they leave so have a look there before you go to the shop and buy something. We had a great holiday and I think the AI option has improved over the years and if you have young children it is probably your best option. I would definitely recommend this hotel for families.

we have just returned from a weeks holiday at victoria playa and we could not fault it. the rooms were spacious and had all you needed. They were clean and the beds were made everyday and towels were also changed every day. The swimming pool areas were very clean but if you wanted a sun lounger by the childrens pool you had to put towels down by 8am.
the restaurant and public areas were also very clean. The Hotel is in a great location to a small sandy beach but is very quiet outside the hotel.
childrens entertainment was good for small children and our son liked the kids club. Food wise it was somethinhg different every night but it was chips for lunch and dinner for the kiddies so could do with something different. All in all a great place for families and we will be going back again next year.

We went to Menorca to stay at the Hotel Victoria Playa as two families in July 2009 with a broad age range from 5 & 7 years, one teenager, and four adults. It suited all of us the hotel was very clean and tidy the staff were all great! The buffet style we encountered for our half board stay suited us all to a tee, as you are never worried that there won't be something for everyone and it never mattered what time we entered the restaurant there was always plenty of well cooked fresh food.
The hotel pool is ideal for young and old with plenty of staff providing there own versions of entertainment. The only problem we encountered here was the other guests insistence on getting up at the crack of dawn and placing their towels on the sunbeds and we call the others!!
The beach is excellently located,in a very long bay with a shallow shore line great for the kids, and it was lovely and clean.
The resort of Santa Thomas is ideal for the young modern family, with a few small bars and big family hotels scattered liberally around with a lovely beach walk which we all refered to as the Mama Mia way !
We shall definitely be returning to this wonder full memory making location 10 out of 10.
