This was mine my husbands and our two daughters (fourteen and four) fourth year at the victoria playa and it was a Brilliant holiday as usual! The transfer takes about 30 minutes and there are helpful staff on the coach that are waiting for you at the airport and help you with bags and prams ect when you get to the hotel. Check in is great as it is quick and the reception staff are lovely.
This year we went for inter-connecting rooms instead of the family room and it was a much better choice. The inter-connecting option is two rooms that have a door between the two. Perfect for families that are four or more and especially with teenagers that would prefer to have their own space to get ready. It also was usefull as there were two bathrooms meaning that their was never a queue for a shower in the evening.
The food is brilliant as there is a wide selection and there is also a section for kids. This year we were all inc so we got a lunch in the restaurant to. Me my husband and our four yr old usually ate togeter and our 14 year old daughter ate with her friends after they had finished GRID (club for 13-16 yr olds. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was brill.
The pool and beach are great. their is a splash pool for kids and then a bigger pool. there is also a shallower pool. The poolside entertainment is great as there are lots of fun things, includint the whirlpool and pool side bingo( where if your number is called you have to jump into the pool) There is also a daily poolside quiz.
The kids clubs are great. there is tots (3-5 yrs) Team(6-10) and tribe (11&12). Our little one went to tots and enjoyed it so much. They do great activities with the kids. Our 14 yr old went to GRID it was amazing to have this option. it was for 13-16 yr olds and the group that were there were really good friends. The club had three sessions through out the day of 2 hrs each. They did fun activities like snorkling, water/beach sports. they also had a giant inflatable hamsterball that they used in the pool. It was also great that our daughter knew some of the other children at grid from previous years, she has arranged to see them next year.
Overall an amazing holiday, returning next year. HIGHLY RECOMENDED

We stayed for here for a week... end of season. Expected cooler weather (which we got) but the hotel, staff and beach were brilliant. Hotel Clean and staff very friendly. The entertainment team were really friendly and helpful. Swimming pool and sea were very cold (this time of year). A lot of variety with the food (loads of fish and meat choices every night and spectacular seafood extravaganza on first night) - we were all inclusive and it was worth it. My children had unlimited ice creams; fruit juices; fizzy drinks and water all day. Hotel Rooms slightly dated but were very clean and had English TV channels. Kids club was really good for my 10yr old daughter who made loads of friends. Only weakness could be more for 16yr olds to do...
Beach was stunning and so close.

We stayed at this hotel recently between 02/10/10 and 9/10/10. We have a young child under 2 and I would say that if you have young children there is plenty for them to do. Our child spent his time between the splash pool and the playgrounds.
The room was cleaned daily and the overall standard in the hotel was very high.
The food was good with a selection of salads, pasta, rice options along with 4 or 5 hot options each night. Breakfast was the best meal of the day with a very wide selection of hot and cold options.
Entertainment was excellent and the reps fantastic. They all took the time to learn the childrens names and all seemed to be very happy in their work.
We took our child to the parent and toddler session where there was options of painting, drawing, making glitter pictures etc. This was a welcome break in the air conditioned hut on the hot days. This session was on 3 times during our stay.
The resort of Santa Tomas is very quiet and there is very little in resort besides a couple of supermarkets and restaurants.
If you're looking for a quiet family holiday with plenty of options for the children then this is the one for you.

Returned on the 24th September after having spent a week at the Victoria Playa with my husband and 4 year old little boy. The hotel was lovely and clean and the staff were more than helpful. They loved the kids and would joke with them and make a fuss over them at meal times. We thought they were better with the kids than the holiday reps. Our little boy lived in the splash pool, we had a hard time getting him out of it at meal times. The only thing that let this hotel down was the food. It was very repetitive. It would have been nice to have more variety. The rooms were just the right size and kept clean. We did have trouble with ants one night but management got onto the problem straight away. Went into Mahon one day on the bus and it was well worth it. Had a great market and the trip on a glass bottom boat was fantastic. The kids entertainment i thought started a bit late, unless you could get your child to sleep in an afternoon, they would end up missing the kids entertainment on a night as it started at 8.30. I think a kids disco one night would have been a good idea. The adult entertainment was a good mix each night with some great acts on. This was our first time at this hotel and would go again next year if we could.

We have just returned from Victoria Playa Hotel,Santo Tomas, having spent a super week there, three years ago.
Sadly we did not enjoy our "not cheap" or "not so all inclusive" week!!! this time.
Firstly - I want to state - that we love babies & children! We have two ourselves.
It was like a mother & toddler group (only 24/7).
Literally every make of pushchair was on display(it was like more like Mothercare )in lifts, dining room,by pools,in toilets..In fact the average age of guest was under three years.......
I fully understand that parents & young children are allowed to enjoy a holiday. However not at every one elses expense
We were made to feel second class citizens because we did not have the latest travel system & all the baggage of young children who were allowed to scream & cry 24/7
As to the all inclusive option..what a rip off!!!!!
If you wanted any thing other than a basic dry tuna or cheese sandwich between meals -you have to pay extortinate prices & if you wanted other than "vinegar" tasting wine or weakest of the weakest beer- guess what you have to pay for it again
Overall the best food was breakfast (scrambled/fried eggs, beans, toast, fruit etc)Just avoid the deep fried bacon, sausages, onion rings etc & recycled left overs from last night dinner.
On a positive side - the beaches are beautiful, shallow seas & the whole area is clean, well kept & maintained
Sadly we will not be returning to see this again as I feel the management of the hotel & holiday operators have to get their priorities right & respect that some people like a little peace & quiet on holiday. Not a lot to ask is is it ?

Just returned from victoria playa friday 24th sept having had a great holiday in a well run and very friendly family hotel. the hotel was very clean and the rooms were spotless. some reviews will say the rooms are too small but we found ours to be fine, you only sleep in them after all. the staff are fantastic from the cleaners to the restaurant, they are so good with the children they should let them be the holiday reps as they are so naturally friendly. the food was good but people we spoke to who have been before say it was better previously, but im sure you wont starve as theres plenty of choice. the kids splash pool was fantastic, we couldnt get our 4 year old out of it. even at meal times. also if youre are travelling with children take advantage of the kids club, its very good and very safe and its nice for mum and dad to have a couple of hours to themselves in the afternoon.

Just got back from Victoria Playa Hotel Santo Tomas 3rd Sept till 10th Sept. The hotel is very clean and the rooms for couples are fine, however my daughter her husband and two young children were in a family room, these are very small not enough room for a family. The location of the hotel next to a sandy safe beach for kids is a plus, but there is little else to do in the area. We found the pool areas to be clean and well kept in keeping with the rest of the hotel. THE FOOD LET THIS HOLIDAY DOWN IT IS AWFUL,we spoke to, and heard others around us making the same comments about the food. We all lived on salad for a week as that was all we could stomach, beware the hard rolls and bread. The staff at the hotel were jolly and liked to talk to the children, again BEWARE of reception staff as they can be very rude as we found out. This was our first holiday on an all inclusive,it has put us off,how nice it was to get home to food we could actually eat.

Excellent clean hotel. Great food. The big downfall is lack of sunbeds, unless you get up at 4-6 am they have all gone. Night time entertainment is aimed at under 8 years, not enough going on for teenagers.

Just got back from our two week holiday at Victoria Playa, Santo Tomas. Transfer time was 30 minutes approx. First impression of the hotel was very big, normally holiday in villas. This was the first time we stayed in hotel and all inc. Hotel is very clean, bedrooms are basic, but you're on holiday, why do you need a room with state of the art gadgets when there is sunbathing, exploring and fun to be had? Rooms were cleaned and mopped everyday. The hotel itself was also cleaned everyday (reception, lounges, bar area etc). Food - fabulous choice breakfast, dinner and tea (although not sure where deep fried cauliflower comes from!!!) and the waiters/waitresses were wonderful, clearing your plates away as soon as they were empty and very attentive to the children/babies. The entertainment was fantastic, you didn't have to join in if you didn't want to, but to see others having fun doing aqua splash, the whirlpool, poolside quiz etc you kind of wanted to join in. The Thomson reps were fantastic, Holly, Kym, Kayleigh, Greg, Jessie, Michaela, Nikki, Zara to name but a few and they always had a smile and a friendly hello even if they were in deep conversation with each other. We were concerned about our teenagers and them being bored (as we had read other reviews saying nothing for teens to do), didn't need to worry at all, they had lots to do at Grid and they even joined in with some of the adult entertainment (water polo and table tennis). All in all I would definitely recommend this holiday to families with children of all ages. A fab time had by all. Would recommend that you do get up early to get a sunbed, also hire a safe and a fridge on arrival, these came in very handy indeed. Santo Tomas is a quiet resort and doesn't have much of a shopping centre if that's what you would want, but Cuitadella and Mahon ( the old and new capitals) are a 30 minute ride away.

I would describe the hotel Victoria Playa as well run, clean and friendly. The rooms are basic but clean with an excellent daily cleaning service. The pool area is lovely and suitable for all ages. There is a beautiful grass area to sunbathe which is ideal if you wish to escape the hecticness of the pool area. Be prepared to get up early if you want a sun bed, they go quick! (Very annoying, but if you can’t beat ‘em join ‘em).
The only criticism I have of the hotel is the dining room environment. The quality and selection of food is good however the dining hall itself is not dissimilar to a supermarket canteen with tablecloths! Unfortunately as a result our meals tended to be rushed rather than enjoyed.
Overall a great hotel with excellent facilities, superbly located in a beautiful, peaceful resort. The hotel is ideal for families with young children. Due to the dining facility we would not return to the hotel, however we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are currently suffering with the holiday blues!

Positives first: Very Clean, friendly hotel in a lovely location with good facilities. The food was the best bit about staying here and the restaurant waiters were by far the best. Huge selection of food and was something different every single night we were there (11 nights) As a half board resident you did feel slighty out of it when everyone that has chosen to go All Inc are helping themselves to the drinks and you are not allowed. Also found out that one family got upgraded to All Inc for free so I hope you didn't pay the extra!
Hotel is perfect for families with children under the age of 11. Definitely not the sort of place to stay if you want to relax or have some peace and quiet now and then - NO CHANCE.
Negatives: Noisy, very noisy, pool was noisy and not big enough at times, no real separate adults pool. Hotel corridors are noisy at night and if you are unlucky enough like we were to have a room right opposite the lift entrance then you have no chance of a good night sleep. Did however quiten down around midnight but then the lifts seem to start up again at 4.30 - 5am I guess everyone rushes down to get their sunbed.
NO CHANCE of a sunbed unless you are one of the Brits that sneaked down at 5.30am to place your towel on not just 1 sunbed, or 2 or even 3 but 7 or 8 all piled up with a towel on top - plus a chair! then go to the beach for the day - absolutely unbelieveable. Obvious lack of sunbeds, approx 200 well the hotel has 400 + rooms so no where near enough to go round. This was such a shame.
Evening entertainment is purley just for the children, even the adult entertainment was very much aimed at the children. My 12yr old even struggled to sit and watch it at times.
Unfortunatlely we wouldn't choose to stay here again, the resort is very very quite, apart from the bar opposite the hotel, all the other bars / restaurants, very few, were attached to other hotels.

Only book the Victoria Playa if you have young children (preferably more than one & aged under 6 yrs), you are happy for a hotel-based holiday i.e. not much going on in resort and you have plenty of patience for noise levels, waiting for lifts and sunbed shenanigans. Provided you're ok with the above you'll have a great time.
VP is a noisy, hectic, Butlins-esque kids-centred break. Great for keeping kids happy, something to do every minute of every day. Food is nice (I heard complaints but we liked it), drinks were fine -all on tap too so no queuing- and location us excellent. The each at Santo Tomas is really lovely - especially further up near Malibu bar, and the lovely coastal path is great for an evening stroll at sunset with pushchair to get the kids of to sleep. We ate out one night - VERY expensive. We also took a bottle of wine to the beach one night for a cheap alternative to the entertainment at VP - very picturesque.
We paid £1k for 4 of us AI for a week so at that price we can't complain too much. We had a great time although can't see us going back to the VP mainly due to lack of sleep because of noisy & small/ uncomfortable rooms.
