We have just returned from a self catering family ski holiday (2 mothers and 3 teenagers) in Arraba where this really friendly small apartment block can be found. We arrived in the early evening but too late to go out and source food for the following day's breakfast, immediately we were told that they could provide us with the meal the following morning in the bar area for a small fee (a welcome relief for tired holiday makers with hungry mouths to feed). We revisited the bar to discover the joys of the local spritz (prosecco with additional mystery ingredients), very good; and to borrow packs of playing cards.
Our simply furnished appartment on the ground floor was spotlessly clean. The kitchen area was adequate and there were enough kitchen tools, plates, glasses, etc. There were even some dishwasher tablets in the cupboard! Our towels were changed half way through the week and the loo rolls restocked. The building has a modest indoor pool and sauna though we did not use them. The basement had good garage space for guests with cars, the ski room was well organised with heated pegs to hang our boots at the end of the day. There is a lift. Everything was accessed by a couple of electronic cards.
You do need to have a sense of adventure to reach the piste in the morning as there was no direct route down the mountain to the first ski lifts; and to be fit to treck back up to the hotel in the evenings or manage a short off piste run to avoid climbing up the winding road.
There are lots of good places to eat within walking distance so did not need to cater every evening. Fabulous butcher and decent grocers can be found in the village.
The person fitting the shelves, mirrors, loos abd bidets was much taller than me and things are quite a long way from the floor but that in no way affected how much we enjoyed our stay.
We loved it!
