Just came back after new year break. Hotel is indeed basic but we found it to be very clean and couldn't smell smoke anywhere other than the bar, and I am the most rabid of anti-smokers.
Breakfast was simple but ample and the bar is one of the cheapest in resort. Hotel is very close to main lift and ski hire shops.
Overall very happy with hotel - it's basic but warm, clean and friendly. Skiing is great, plenty of variety and would recommend the helicopter shuttle to Alpe D'Huez.

First impressions of the hotel looked quite good but as we entered the property, the cigarette smoke was intense. We had a room on the third floor and even our room had the strong smell of smoke, my partner is 13 weeks pregnant and this wasn't ideal at all. This hotel obviously had no concern about it's non smoking customers at all. They did have a non smoking room in the bar, but all the smoke from the bar travelled around the hotel like thick fog.
(Smoking ban now in force in France so maybe this will improve).
Breakfast was ok - continental style as advertised. Rooms cleaned daily, apart from the smoke all was as expected. Would not return to this hotel again, the lingering smoke smell was repulsive

Went stayed at Les Lutins for my Birthday over Christmas (4 women!!). We found the staff extremely helpful, the rooms were large if a bit dated but the view of the mountains in the mornings and the fact that the lockers were downstairs and we had to walk 50 yards to the main lifts was fantastic...
At night the locals and staff were very welcoming and the hotel bar was always busy and friendly.
I would not hesitate in going back again and probably will in Jan/Feb 09.. can't wait!!
