Just back from New Year stay which was obviously an inflated price due to timing (£1230 inc lift pass) with Neilson/Thomas Cook. The chalet is the oldest in the resort but has been 'refurbished' and is clean and pleasant. We were a group of 18 which may have been daunting at first for the other 2 couples but we all mixed well, both on and off the slopes. The hosts were great and helpful, 4 inc the chef (my new year resolution is to remember names!) and the food was good to great. We had several 'picky' diners but the chef accommodated by posting the 3 course evening meal on the board in the morning and a variation was offered to those who wanted it. 2 cooked items for breakfast were served quickly and efficiently with plenty of cereals, jam, juices, tea, coffee, bread etc. The chalet is 100m from the nearest lift but this is across 2 small roads and up several steps. The easiest lift is Aeroski in town, approx 200m, a short walk or a very quick bus ride from the stop just outside the chalet. A quick slice of cracking cake then the hot tub and sauna were always a welcome relaxation after a good day on the slopes and a couple of apres-ski sherberts in Loop bar or Alpaca. Canapes at 7pm with a glass of wine and a good meal with more wine ended the day feeling relaxed and ready for shut eye. We had room 9 which is a tiny en-suite twin room (approx 4m x 3m inc bathroom) with a shelved cupboard and bedside cabinet. The bad points of the room are; small window (approx 300mm x 600mm), nowhere to hang gear except 3 clothes hooks and radiators and the mirror unit over the sink is very low and deep, making tooth brushing a fine art. It's below the dining room so any chairs moving on the hard floor are heard but no voices are heard. Good points are, it's across the corridor from the jaccuzi and it's warm. We re-arranged the beds to get them together and the room served its purpose, we slept in it. The boot room is outside the chalet and good boot dryers are provided but there are not enough if the chalet is full (someone counted 20 pairs of dryers). I'd love to stay here again but in a different room.

Had a fantastic holiday - but this was down to our large group dynamics and not the staff or chalet!!! Great Location over looking the lake but thats where it stops!!! The staff were too young - too inexperienced - only there to ski/board and party!! There was a severe lack of cleanliness in the kitchen - we had to complain to the head rep before anything was done (mild improvement). We new the chalet was one of the oldest in Tignes but it was very tired and in need of improvements. The jacuzzi was just like a warm bath with no bubbles at all!!
All the furnishings (curtains) were thread bare! Certain things can be tolerated but the staff really let the holiday down - when you are paying a premium for the 'Platinum Service' it is not acceptable. Be warned - steer clear if you want service off the piste.

Nice chalet in a great location with great views over lake, but beware the chalet staff are the worst I have come across in 20 years, rude and insolent and worst of all can't cook, the food was disscusting and totally inedible. give this one a miss.

Having just returned on Saturday (9th April) from a week away at this Chalet with Neilson I have felt compelled to join Holiday Watchdog to express my dissapointment at my stay here.
After booking this holiday in August last year and with a healthy price tag of £900 each, we had high expectations of the Chalet. Sadly this was not the case.
On arrival at the Chalet we were greeted by the staff and allocated our rooms. From this point on the holiday went rapidly down hill! Our room, Room 7, was on the lower floor down a dark dingy corridor where the light didnt work. The room was so small we could barely fit all of our ski gear in there along with ourselves. And to top it off there were two very small windows with not much of a view, so lights had to be on in daylight too! The bathroom had a very small shower which when used leaked all over the bathroom floor due to the design of the curtain, and then to dry yourself off you had to go into the bedroom due to the lack of space in the bathroom (I am only 5 foot 3). There was also no hand soap provided and when asked if we could have some I was told that this wasnt something they usually did. There were staines all over the carpet which I was later told by the hospitality rep was paint. We barely unpacked due to the lack of space so pretty much lived out of our bags the whole week.
After the shock of the initial arrival and pointing out my dissapointment with the chalet staff of the room, to which I was told there was nothing could be done due to the Chalet being full we decided to try and get on with the holiday best as we could.
The first nights meal was actually quite pleasant, so we had decided to try and make the best of the holiday and continue on. The next morning after a pretty bad nights sleep due to hearing everyone in the rooms around us either going to the loo or blowing their nose, I was looking foward to a good choice of breakfast to set us up for the day skiiing. In the brochure it says that there is a continental option and a cooked option. The continental was basically bread, jam and cereal and the cooked breakfast was one piece of bacon and a spoon full of cold mushrooms! Wherever I have been skiing before breakfast has always been overfacing with the choice on offer, it seemed the only thing here you could eat to make you full was bread!
Breakfasts seemed to be rationed continuing into the week and when we asked for more we were told we couldnt. The evening meals seem to get more and more unedible with the use of cheap produce. This then culminated on Tuesday evening when we were given Tartiflet the french dish of potatoes, cheese, bacon etc! Only this tartiflet seemed to just be potatoe, when we asked if there was another option we were told that we could have a bacon sandwich which some of the guys opted for. Only for it to arrive on the extreme raw side of cooked!
The hygiene standards in the chalet were some what lacking, there was mouldy food in the fruit bowl, dirty pots and pans left in the sink and on the side units, the pots and mugs were often dirty as well as chipped. Some of our group were actually ill after eating.
Then there was the staffs personal appearance, especially the chef who had dirty old trainers on and trousers with all old food down. But this may have something to do with the fact that they can only wash clothes and towels on a thursday.
I could go on with my endless list of dissapointment with this Chalet and Neilson, which I intend to take further but I would most certainly not recommend this Chalet to anyone and especially not at the price we paid. This is by no means a 4 star which Neilson rate it at, I have stayed in better 2 star.
Tignes is a brilliant ski resort which I hope to return too, but next time it will definately not be here or with Neilson.
