The first thing you about the Bouganville is that it's very big! It does look quite dated as well. The entrance lobby is dark and not particularly welcoming. However, the reception staff are very good and we received a welcome drink which was nice. We were in room 610... more

I stayed at the Bouganville Playa with my wife in April 2008 and in my private comments, which I keep, I stated the hotel was excellent and well situated. I returned there this month, i.e. January 2011,but my feelings have somewhat altered. The hotel is well situated, the... more

A decent hotel overall. The Reception area really looked like 4/5 star, but our room on the 2nd floor was badly in need of refurbishment. The furniture was old, the floor tiles cracked, the decor drab and the curtains partly hanging off the rail. The bathroom was cramped. A... more

loved it cant fault the place been there 4 years in a row
lovely hotel will be goin back next year
Bouganville Playa - Fantastic Hotel
Having read nothing but the highest of praise for this hotel, I was thinking 'Too good to be true'. We have just spent our winter holiday (1st 2 weeks in October 2005) and as a couple in mid 40's who go on regular breaks we can only report that it was completely outstanding. The appearance, the staff, the food, the service and in particular the 'Animation Team' were the best I have encountered making the holiday memorable.- General information - There are literarly hundreds of new beds around both pools meaning that there is no need for a 5 A.M towel prowl. Lifts are quick and efficient.- There is a lovely coastal walk although the Torviscas area is beginning to appear a little run down. Good nights out include St.Eugene's live music bar (5 acts a night free) and The Pheasant Plucker (I won four bottles of spirits) quizes etc. both only minutes walk from the hotel. We made a number of friends within the hotel which provided an amiable atmosphere. Paul Greig W.Lothian.
Fantastic Hotel!
What can I say about this holiday?? apart from a what a fantastic Hotel! Food was excellant, accomedation was great and everything was spotless. Only downside of the holiday was the fact that we went as a group of girls and felt we had to keep quiet! " No noise after 9pm"?? hmmm yeah ok! Seems that many people dont apprieciate the Crazy Frog early in the morning. However, Its understandable that we got a telling off. This Hotel is very much aimed at couples and familes and the facilities are fantastic for the kids. Hotel is about 4 euros from Veronicas by taxi which u can grab outside the hotel, and Taxis are easily found on the strip just find the Magic M "MacDonalds" and KFC and Pizza Hut and you've found open access to all the Taxi's. Be Warned the PR's for the bars are a real shock to the system they will follow you around to get you in to the bars and can be exhausting after an hour or so of trying the diffrent bars, dont think that you'll be able to avoid them either.... we tried and failed! I would deffo go back to an Iberostar Hotel, but may have to pass on Playa de las Americas. Its great as a group holiday with only one task in mind, but as a family I would give it a miss.
If all Iberostar hotels are as good as this i'll try more
First time to an Iberostar hotel, but if all their hotels are of the standard of the Bouganville Playa, i would certainly use them. In rooms the aircon worked well but only if you made sure that the slide door was closed. Our room had a TV - english channels not good, OK if you liked sport. Room had a fridge which was very useful, go across road to get drinks to keep chilled. Also had a safe which you had to pay 17 euros, but get 5 euros back on return of "key". Shower gel/Shampoo provided also towels can be hired for 10 euros each, which can save on luggage space. Food very good and varied, buffet style and lots of it. both breakfast and evening meals. If any complaint it would be the wait for the lifts if you are on the lower floors. Road works still along side hotel, but noise not really noticable. If you wish to go on tours, go to the booking offices in port colon or near hotel. much cheaper than some tour operators. compare prices first.
Book it & stop scanning
Book It! stop looking around and go as you will not be disappointed. The quality of the food is excellent with plenty of choice, and everything is cooked in front of you. The pools are spacious and must be the cleanest in Tenerife thanks to GEORGE (say hello and tell him about this review) the pool attendant - Ignore any issues about sunbeds as we were there in the middle of August and you could get beds up to mid-day. They claim to have enough beds (all new) for every guest and I viewed 150 still wrapped up in reserve. Entertainment around the pool is plentiful but the entertainment team do play it down as not to disturb those wanting nothing more than to relax. The hotel is in the ideal spot to walk to Playa las Americas - Adejce & Porto Colon and also has the beach and plenty of bars on its doorstep (Star Bar - live football & one euro a pint - Brummie Bar - good & cheap snacks) Whilst the hotel is definately 4* the rooms are a little dated but exceptionally clean and the professionalism and friendliness of all of the staff certainly makes up for any shortcomings in your rooms. If like me you scan all of these review sites you can stop now and book with confidence.
excellent rest time, superb hotel
Totally wonderful break, only went for 7 nights but this hotel made the rest time all the more exciting, i wont go on about it to much you should find out for yourself, if you are reading this then chances are your planning to go....the food is especially wonderful, with choices unlike i have ever seen, rooms are very comfortable and the service within the grounds was outstanding, full marks to Iberostar they really know how to look after their customers , this wasnt my first visit to Tenerife, but the last time i visited i was in my early teens, the area has changed a whole load, if you like the loud party noises then this can be for you as there are a bundle of bars and restaurants to drink and eat in locally - and the hotel being set a little from the frontline shops and bars can accomodate you if you prefer the more sedate, peaceful noises.....i give this hotel full marks for providing us a superb week in the sun. many thanks
post refurbishment improvements excellent
Well folks, we returned as we said we would. We found that after the refurbishments the public areas and bedrooms of the hotel are greatly improved. The meals are as good in value as ever and excellently prepared. The staff are as friendly as they ever were and remembered us when we checked in - a nice touch. Some people were concerned by the roadworks outside, although I have to say they did not affect us and we were right above where the road is being improved, in fact when the work is finished it will look really smart. Dont think it will take them too long to complete work in hand they seem to be getting on really well with it all. We will certainly be returning again without a doubt.
lovely grub
Friendly staff and great food. Very clean rooms with air con and fridge. The kids liked the daytime miniclub and evening mini-disco. Only problem with the evening entertainment was the heat of the room. Hotel policy is that you mustn't reserve sunbeds and they say they deal with this but they don't. Our first day there were many sunbeds with towels on and no-one using them until well after 4.00 pm. So if we hadn't done the same and put towels on them by 8.30 am a large group of 8 like us wouldn't have been able to sit together round the pool. Other pluses were free water melon brought to us at the poolside when it was exceptionallyn hot. There was roadworks outside the front and had been going on for over a year. This wasn't a great problem as pool area was noisy any way. Most annoying thing is that our travel agent didn't warn us until a week before and offered cancellation but did very little to try and book another hotel. Also travel agent didn't tell us about the towel loan which, with 4 kids' stuff to pack would have been very useful to know
great hotel !!!
just arrived back from this lovely hotel.we were dreading going because of the road works right next door in which we thought would be a major problem.when we arrived we were given a room overlooking the works and it was also a very smelly room too, either heavy smokers had previously been in or it was a bit damp.anyway we complained and were moved to a room overlooking the sea on the other side of hotel.this room was smaller than previous with very limited wardrobe space for the three of us.our daughters bed had to be used to put the 3 cases on during our stay so she was sleeping inbetween us for the 2 weeks we were there.the rooms are in desperate need of a refurb because it was most certainly not a 4 star bedroom.now the bad points are out of the way.we can honestly say that we travel frequently to 4 star hotels and this has been by far the best food we have tasted to date.quality is the only word to use and choice exceeded our expectations, the hotel is full of friendly, efficient staff who run this hotel like a 5 star hotel !! lots of mixed nationalities here and we never got to meet any friends when we stayed which was disappointing though.probably wouldn't go back as we like to try different hotels, but for anyone going soon then you wont be disappointed and have a fab time.also a good idea to shed a few pounds before you go because you wont fit in your jeans when you get home.I CAN'T !!!!!
What a holiday!
There is just nothing bad I can say about this place! Right from our arrival to the day we left this hotel made our holiday one to remember. All the general hotel staff could not be any more helpful. But what really made our holiday were the entertainment team. From 10.30am until 11.00pm we were entertained right from the young to the old, boys and girls. My 7 year old thoroughly enjoyed the kids club and the water polo and both my husband and myself enjoyed all the poolside games during the day. The mini disco at night always went down a treat as did the rest of the evening entertainment. Now for the boring stuff - the rooms were spacious and cleaned every day. They all had a fridge and TV (not many English channels though a portable DVD is a good idea for kids). Food in the resturant was excellent for both breakfast and evening meals and fish lovers are in for a treat! My only tip is to get up early to book your sunbeds this is were you will experience George the pool cleaner! Men need trousers below the knee for dinner but ladies can wear what ever they want. No need to take towels with you either you can rent them from reception for 10 euros each which is refundable. This give you more room for the all important duty free!!! ENJOY!!!!
