Lapad Hotel

Just returned from a happy relaxed holiday stay at the Hotel Lapad. Excellent hotel with friendly helpfull staff. Peacefull room with garden terrace. Everywhere kept very clean at all times. Stayed half board with good choices at each meal time. Lovely looking hotel in good setting right by the harbour with handy reliable bus service to Dubrovnik. Cannot praise the hotel highly enough and would not hesitate to return.

We set off for the Lapad Hotel with some trepidation after reading some of the more recent reviews on it, but found it excellent in every way. It has recently been refurbished, indeed some of the work was still being carried on (in a very unobtrusive way) whilst we were there. I stayed at the hotel lapad for a week in June. My first impressions were VERY bad! Our flight had been delayed for 10 hours and when we finally got to the hotel, we were met with the most unfriendliest of welcomes! The person at the front desk barely lifted his head to say hello and pointed us to our room. We were exhausted tired and went down to the bar to get some water (as there was none in our room). My wife and I stayed at the hotel for a week during September 2007 and it was one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in. The rooms were extremely basic, the shutters on the windows did not close properly, electrical sockets were coming away from the wall. The balcony had broken glass on the floor and we had to request that it be cleaned and this took three (3) days. Basic hotel, small room, but very adequate. Lovely pool and outside bar. My partner and I are in our early 30s and we were the youngest by 20 years! Breakfast isn't great, but if you're not fussy, you can stock up on yoghurt and bread. It's a pleasant 10 minute walk to the bus stop to the old town-no problem. Or a 7 euro cab ride home. Would recommend if you're just looking for basic accomodation just outside the old town.

Arrived with BA and took a pre booked taxi to the hotel - the journey took about half an hour. We had paid for an upgraded balcony room and were allocated 407 in the (newer) rear block. The room was nice with a good large and pwerful shower. The TV had 15 channels, including CNN. Maid service was daily. Have just returned from 2 weeks at the Lapad in Croatia. Arrived late due to flight delay but cold buffet was provided. Good clean rooms with large bathroom facility and clean towels daily! The cleaner was wonderful and our room was spotless. Beds changed on average twice at least per week. The food was fairly good for the rating and better than some 4 stars I have stayed in. The hotel seems a bit old fashioned, but the room and bathroom were clean and everything worked well, although the aircon struggled a bit as it was very hot outside. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast OK, but a bit lacking in variety and the back half of the dining romm very hot and stuffy. Despite what other said, we found the staff pleasant enough. Evening meal a bit "school dinners". I have just returned from a holiday staying at Hotel Lapad with a friend and am surprised by some of the reviews which i have just read! The hotel is 3 star so we expected something more on the basic side. The room was slightly basic with no balcony or drinks facilities but it had adequate storage, a working bathroom and a good air conditioning system. only stay here if you are on a package otherwise they will charge you 3 times as much especially for the food and the accomodation. it much cheaper to say in private rooms. besides the staff are unfriendly and some are even a little nuts.
