Hotel Description:
This hotel is right on the seafront in the bay of Lapad, 2 miles from the old town of Dubrovnik. Dubrovnik is a historic city with cobbled streets, narrow alleys, squares, churches and ancient architecture all preserved to create the original 7th century atmosphere. The city walls stone ramparts offer great views across the town loading...

Vis is not a modern hotel but the facilities are very clean and the staff are very welcoming, especially to our daughter. The hotel has no specific facilities for kids which was the only drawback. Our daughter was a trifle bored as there were no other English speaking families there when we went (a fact that we enjoyed!), this is a holiday for enjoying your own company.

The pebble beach is just down the steps and the sea is clean and clear and the bathing is very safe. There is a bus stop directly outside the hotel and the bus service is regular into Dubrovnik, a town I urge you to see. There is little evidence of the destruction it suffered in the 90's.

The resort of Lapad has everything you need locally, although local entertainment is sometimes dodgy. A local Dalmatian band, who play on the hotel terrace are stunningly good though. We stayed half board in the hotel, the food was hearty, sometimes odd but there was always something worth eating. Do not go if you are a chips and beans person!! The terrace restaurant is very pleasant and watching the sun set from our table every night was a highlight of the holiday.

Two weeks is just enough time to do everything, I recommend the 'Fish Picnic' excursion and promenading into the night around the old town. If there weren’t so many other wonderful places in the world I would definitely go back tomorrow.
