Great place, great hotel. Hotel is a 3*, but there is a renovated 4* annex just outside the main building, where we stayed. it was great place to stay nice and clean room, bathroom, cleaning service every day. We saw the rooms in the main 3* building and they were also in... more

Excellent holiday all, round. Our room was only two star but it was a good size with its own bathroom, and was clean and tidy. The food and facilities at the hotel were very good. There was a good selection on offer at both breakfast and dinner including local and more... more

Great resort hotel
This is a great 3star hotel. Check-in was quick and efficient, the room was clean with a great view and the breakfast buffet was very good. We did the half board which included dinner. The dinner buffet was good and included local as well as international dishes. The hotel is in a great location, close to the beach and the promonade. Be sure and do the 3 Island tour for a great day.
Great location, no complaints
Myself, my husband and my 12 year old daughter stayed in the grand hotel park 2-9th of july 2007. Its in a great location, on a lovely promenade with lots of little restaurants and hotels. We opted for a sea-view room which was very pretty and had a large balcony with table and chairs. The hotel room was cleaned daily but there wasnt much room for storage. The bathroom was tiled and had shower, bath, bidet, etc. The breakfast had a good variety of foods ie. fruits, pastries, cheese and cold meats, cereals, breads and full irishs also! The outdoor pool is saltwater which was a bit of a disappointment for my daughter. There wasnt much of an atmosphere around the hotel at night time but plenty along the promenade. A bus no 6 stops at the top of the promenade and brings you in to the old town for about a euro which was very handy and only takes 7 minutes. The beach is about a 2 minute walk away but is pebbly. Overall, the grand hotel park gave us the best of both worlds by giving us a city break and a sun holiday all in one.... from susanne, galway, ireland.
Good base for Dubrovnik
We travelled to Dubrovnik for a friend's wedding and stayed for 10 nights at the Grand Park Hotel. Overall, it provided good value for money, and I would recommend it as a base to stay in Dubrovnik over the hot summer months, as you are 5 minutes from the beach and the Old Town is just 4km away (walkable - just, following a busy road, or there are regular buses or taxis). The hotel is undergoing some cosmetic work to bring it up to date (our balcony chairs mysteriously acquired sleak new covers one morning) but the main public areas are still a little rooted in the 80's. The restaurant is HUGE and although we booked half board, we actually never ate an evening meal in the hotel as it was a little soul-less and canteen-ish. However, breakfasts offer a good choice. The rooms were clean and comfortable and had great air-con. The bathroom had obviously been recently replaced. The pool is lovely - salt water which I thought I would hate but actually really liked. The pool bar is also great with efficient, friendly staff, and good value snacks and lunches. One minor issue is that we paid a supplement for a sea view but our travel agent invoice didn't mention the sea view specifically so we ended up in a park view room. Will be writing to the travel agent to complain (they couldn't/wouldn't do anything while we were there) but if you do want a sea view, make sure your documentation specifies it when you get your confirmation. All the rooms have balconies (Although my parents were in the adjoining Villa Park and most of the rooms there don't) Dubrovnik itself is just fantastic - the city walls are breathtaking and the islands are lovely. We travelled in high season so it was very busy in the old town and very, very hot but the amazing views and the clear seas more than made up for it.
Lovely hotel...but no life!
Dubrovnik is spectacular, you have to see it at least once in your liftetime...Lapad is very pleasant indeed, though not particularly outstanding in anyway apart from the views around the bay...& the Grand Hotel Park is a very nice hotel - no major complaints. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel - or this resort to fellow Trip Advisor devotees...but be warned - it does depend on what you're after for your holiday in truth, whether you'll enjoy it or not. I'm not in a hurry to go back personally...maybe when I retire & I'm happy to go to bed at 10 every night! The hotel room was fine - & good value for the money...bed was comfortable, plenty of pillows & linen was good quality. We had fabulous views from the balcony, right around the bay - def worth the extra for a sea view room! There was a daily maid service & towel change...& everything was clean & tidy. The lifts worked, but were often full at busy times - if you're not prepared to walk down several flights of stairs to the basement pool area, you could be in for along wait! Breakfast was disappointing...supplies of everything ran out regularly & weren't topped up speedily - leaving you hanging around waiting to eat something decent - or making do with a bit of bread & cheese so you could get out to the pool while it was still daylight! There was an indoor pool, aswell as the outdoor - though I didn't see anyone use it, it was so pleasant outside! Plenty of sunbeds around the pool - & lots of mattresses...to the side of the pool area, was a little covered shady area - where it was nice to chill out & hide from the very hot sun. The hotel was in a great location, with easy access through a little park area to the 'strip' where the cafe bars & restaurants were...close to everything Lapad had to offer - but still peaceful & quiet. Staff were polite, but not overly friendly in most cases...the pool bartender was a good chap though, always quick to smile & have a little chat (his English was limited - but obviously FAR better than my Croatian, so I'm not criticising)...he happily brought drinks to our sunbeds once he got to know us - & never seemed to be waiting for a tip. When we did tip him at the end of our stay, he was delighted & very grateful...but our good service had not been dependant on that at all. One very negative point: the bar closes at midnight in the hotel - if not before (we got back early a couple of times & it was locked up already!!)...no residents bar / night porter... Don't expect to see any great social scene in Lapad either...after you've eaten a usually pleasant enough meal at one on the restaurants - the nightlife seems to consist of sitting outside one of the many cafe bars that line the 'strip' - people-watching! People walk down toward the sea - then people walk back up - & sometimes they walk back down again...& you sit, sipping a drink (because it's not particularly cheap) watching them. That's IT I'm afraid...! Oh - there is a folksinger chap with a guitar, who was playing in one bar - something a bit different to just watching people walk up & down at least...but then he was in another bar the next night - & another on the 3rd...& so on! And EVERYTHING stops by midnight...you can't get a pizza or a drink or ANYTHING...it's ALL closed! Don't get me wrong, we didn't want or expect wall to wall disco bars...but we would have liked SOMEWHERE with a bit of life! The buses into the old town are frequent & cheap though, just from the end of the road...they are very hot & sweaty, full of locals on their way back from work - so don't expect to arrive at the great walled town feeling fresh & clean! :-) Dubrovnik Old Town is very beautiful - no wonder so many cruise ships stop here...the result though is it is very expensive! Worth going to some of the less fancy looking restaurants down the back alleys - decent food & reasonable prices...& a bit more 'local'. Found a couple of Irish Bars here too, where we could at least enjoy a bit of music & a laugh...though there still wasn't really anywhere we could find to have a late night...!! So if you want a quiet holiday, with some beautiful views & a laid back pace of life, this is probably for you...in which case - you could do far worse than stay at the Grand Hotel Park!
Good base for stay in Dubrovnik
Stayed at this hotel for 1 week with my girlfriend and found it to be a decent tourist class hotel. Paid extra for a sea view room and would recommend this as the views were wonderful, especially at sunset. The pool is nice, with plenty of loungers and shade, as well as a good snack bar. The beach is a two minute walk from the hotel. Found the bay of Lapad to be an ideal base. A few nice restaurants and bars nearby and as another poster mentioned the walk past the Hotel Kompas is spectacular. The old town of Dubrovnik is fantastic. We ended up spending a coupe of days and 4 nights there. Lots of lovely restaurants and bars and lots to see. Would say Dubrovnik is a must see for anyone, and the Grand Hotel Park was a good base and good value for money.
honest comments
Myself and my boyfriend both 30th -stayed at this hotel for one week. We didnt get a sea view -however we were very happy with our accomodation. The hotel staff were really lovely, couldnt do enough for you -the pool had plenty of sunbeds -breakfast was lovely and loads to choose from. However even though we wanted a relaxing holiday -not being able to get a drink after 12 oclock in hotel bar for an irish couple was very dissapointing. As the hotel is in the area of Lapad which we really liked being able to choose from resturants located right beside hotel -but once our meal was over -its bedtime !! we did go into Old town a couple of nights and had great crack -but in Lapad area its generally very quiet at night. I had the loveliest week ,the boat trips were excellent, food great, people lovely. and would reccomend a week definatley.rate out of 10 for hotel would be 8 and rate out of 10 for Dubrovnik would be 8. perfect for relaxing holiday -just would have loved a good boogie one night of the 6 we were there!! enjoy your holiday -i would still reccommend
Good Quality Hotel
We stayed at the Grand Park may 2007. We found it both good quality and excellent value for money. There are 2 pools both indoor and outdoor. We opted for half board accomodation, there was plenty of choice for both breakfast and evening meal, the quality of the food was excellent. The staff were all very friendly and made us feel very welcome. located in the Lapad region it was an ideal location for exploring the main town of Dubrovnik. The bus stop for local no6 bus was just a short walk away which ran regually and took an average of 10mins to the old town. Also located outside the hotel are a various restaurants and a few bars. our favorite was on the main strip alongside hotel which had swinging chairs, great to chill in after getting off the bus from the town after all the sight seeing that we had done in the day. If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel with that little bit more tlc than most this is the one.
Recommend the sea view rooms
Hotel had just been refurbished. Clean, comfortable, good value for money. Bathroom was of a high standard, no bath but a fantastic power shower. A great location with cheap, frequent bus links to the Old Town. Breakfast was basic but plentiful. We had a top floor sea facing room - we had a view of the whole bay and out to the nearby islands, beautiful - probably the best hotel room view I've ever had.
Not good......
We stayed in the Villas Park advertised as 4* which is connect to the Grand Hotel and uses all of the facilities. The rooms were nice, comfortable and on the whole clean. Checking in we were told our room wasnt ready and come back at 1pm, at 1pm it still wasnt ready, at 2pm we picked up our keys and found the room not even been touched by cleaners. There was no apology from the hotel staff at all, they just sat a porter with us and our baggage whilst the maids quickly cleaned the room. The facilities offered by the Grand hotel were not good. Breakfast was a fight, too many people waiting for food and all large buffets in a large impersonal restaurant. The bar was extremely smoky and didnt get any trade from us after the first night. The poolside was OK but often crowded, if someone jumped in the pool you got wet as most people were very close to the edge! The hotel is handy for the restaurants of Lapad bay but that is all I can say to recommend it, we will not be going back.
A comfortable stay
I let Atlas Travel pick this place for a two-night stay. The location was fine for proximity to the beach, nearby cafes and restuarants and bus connections, both local and regional. The room was a fair size, clean and comfortable. Noise was not a problem as October seemed to lack tourists. The hotel Taverna was very quiet, as were the nearby cafes. The staff was pleasant and helpful. For logistics, a $39 flight from Zagreb on Croatia Airlines, then thier bus to the Dubrovnik Bus Station, then taxi around the harbour to the hotel. Very nice scenery along the way and with the bus to Split. Street maps and street signs leave a lot to be desired however.
