just back from our first trip to Cavtat and it is hard to be objective about the hotel because of the overwhelming beauty and peace of the town itself.
Ok, so the hotel Cavtat is a basic 3 star hotel in a prime location. Make sure you get a real sea view, ours was glorious but we were aware that many rooms have trees obscuring the view and some are right on the road, which can be a little noisy. As with every hotel in the town, planes pass over several times a day, but we did not find the noise intrusive.
The half board was a buffet and was fair but basic and lacked flair, we stayed a week but if we were staying 2 it would be better to have the good hot and cold breakfast and eat out in one of the many good and cheap restaurants in the town.
Staff were mixed, from very good front of house and waiters to very tip oriented ones. Reception staff were poor and we were particularly irritated that on day of departure we were not leaving until 5pm and were told it would be 10 pounds to keep the room, only to be waved away and told by someone who did not even check that they were full and we had to be out by noon, particularly annoying as several people appeared for the pick up fresh from a siesta in their rooms!
Overall we will definately return to Cavtat, and would not write off this hotel as it was clean, comfortable and ideally situated.

This hotel has a perfect location yards from the sea. Room good standard with balcony and lovely sea view. Buffet style breakfast and evening meal offered excellent choice. Waiters and waitresses were polite and helpful. Bathing platforms offered easy access into sea. Large area was cordoned off for bathers. There was a dalmatian folk group one evening over dinner and on another evening, a couple of excellent singers provided a varied repetoire of well-known songs.
Walking into town was a matter of a few minutes. Plenty of restaurants nearby and fascinating harbour.
Walks around the 2 penninsulas (one of which was lit up at night) offered beautiful views.
Only thing that was bad about this idyllic holiday was the deafening 'music' that resounded from a nearby location until well into the early hours 3 out of our 7 nights. Even with the air-conditioning on full and door shut, it could still be heard clearly. One night it went on until after 4am; another night until after 2am.
