An excellent hotel, picturesque, comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was never anyone at reception but someone could usually be found upstairs in the bar. The food was good but quite limited (if you don't or can't eat pork you're in trouble). The proximity to the nursery slope drag-lift made for easy access to the gondola and higher slopes. Although we managed to ski every day, March is not a good time to go skiing in this low altitude resort. The lower slopes were slush with large bare patches; the higher slopes had enough snow but even here, the rain made for uncomfortable and slow skiing.
The resort itself is quite small with no restaurants (only other hotel restaurants). A free twenty minute bus ride to Auffach gives the good beginner or intermediate skier more choice, however the lack of snow in Niederau means lots of people go to the (slightly) higher Auffach and the bus and first lift become unpleasantly crowded.
My overall rating of 6 reflects on the snow and weather conditions in March; the hotel and transfer rep were excellent.
