TI is way better
from A TripAdvisor Member
I didn't stay at Palms, but I did make the long track there just to see what all the hype was about. It wasn't worth it. It is a plain, very narrow, and boring hotel that is not even on the main Las Vegas strip. It really benefitted a lot from the free advertising it got from MTV's Real World. I actually had a much better time at Treasure Island aka TI. I hung out at their new club called Tangerine and was inches away from Carmen Electra, as well as Mikael Pfiefer (spelling?), Gervis from Survivor, and others. Their whole scheme is a lot better than Palms, and even the atmosphere is hip without trying too hard like Palms. I also enjoyed Caesars new club and their drinks were good too, just a little overpriced (8 bucks from one drink?) .
Sad Sad example of modern hype

Horrible boring hotel with the most sullen, unhelpful staff ever. What other hotel offers staff that answers a guest's Thank You's with "Uh-Huh's". The poor teenybopper service is further aggravated by the gross, stomach churning food the hotel calls food. The Casino is empty and not exciting in the least (and this is a weekend in early June mind you, not exactly off season). I seriously recommend staying in another one of the more established hotels like the Venetian or Bellagio. They cost around the same and are infinitely superior hotels. At the Palms, there is nothing to do and you are far away from the Strip. Staying at the Palms for the scene is just a bad idea...unless your idea of a scene is to gross yourself out. Just save yourself the expense..you do not get treated better at any of the nightlife spots at the Palms for being a hotel guest (you get free entry before 8 pm! Who goes out at 8 pm??). Just stay away from the Palms! The Maloof brothers sure have their work cut out for them.
Loved the Orleans

Have stayed at the Orleans twice and hope to stay again. People were nice, rooms were clean and the food was good.
Best Hotel Ever
from A TripAdvisor Member
Well... I recently stayed in this hotel at the end of May 2004... I am only 15, but I have to say that this was a wonderful place to stay... I could honestly live there... it was great..
Pretty nice
from Luvroosters2
We were at the Plams in Nov 2003. The hotel itself is nice, WONDERFUL beds and pillows. I would stay there just for the linens! The spa is very nice as well. The food is fairly good and there are lots of choices from a food court to mexican to sushi and salads. The Ghost bar didn't seem all that imprssive to me or the group I was with. The Steak House is excellent, although spendy. The casino is pretty small and it's better to go to one of the bars to get your"free" drinks than it is to wait for a cocktail waitress. Cabs to the strip are pretty spendy and it's a long walk. Other than that, it's a fun place.
Perfect first trip to Vegas
from A TripAdvisor Member
My husband and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary in Vegas April 25-28 and stayed at the Palms (the first time in Vegas for both of us). We absolutely loved it! Check in/out was fast and the staff was curtious and helpful. The breakfast buffet was good, especially after a long night of partying. The Ghost Bar was amazing and even though there was a line to get in, we did not have to wait for more than 10 minutes. And the beds truly lived up to their reputation, we literally melted into the soft sheets and down pillows every night. The only thing that could have made this hotel more perfect is if it was on the strip, or at least a little closer.
Disappointing - not the best in Vegas
from whiskeymittens
I stayed here late July, 2003. First, the good: we were upgraded to a junior suite (without asking) upon check-in. The bed and linens are very luxurious - the nicest in any hotel room I've seen. The bathroom was large but with a standard shower/bath combo. The furniture in the room is very nice and the suite was big, however you can tell it was just 2 standard hotel rooms made into 1 suite with connecting door. The sitting room had a nice CD player. I think we would have gotten more use out of the suite had we gone with friends and entertained in the sitting room. With just my boyfriend and I, there wasn't much reason to hang out in the other room. The bad: this hotel is NOISY. The walls must be paper thin. We could hear people in other rooms all night. The pool lounge did a sound check that was so loud we could hear it clearly through the outer walls/windows. The lobby/casino/bar is full of 20-something club kids. I expected this but they were still annoying. We tried to go to Club Rain between 12:00 and 1:00 am and they were closing! The security at the elevator said we couldn't go up. This was on a weekend! For a place that's supposed to be the coolest place in Vegas and is known for it's nightlife, we were pretty disappointed that things closed down so early. The Ghost bar was long closed at that point. The service at the diner was slow and inattentive. However, we did get free spa passes at check-in and the spa was really posh. Overall, my experience was mixed. It wasn't awful but it is not my first choice for Vegas. The great bed is hard to enjoy with the thin walls letting in so much noise.
Had a great time!

Stayed at the Palms April 3rd through the 6th 2004. I'll give you the pros and the cons. First the pros. PROS: 1) There are hardly any kids or old folks . 2) The rooms are clean and the beds very comfortable. 3) The pool is small, but the view was always very nice. 4) N9NE Steak House- best meal I've ever had- try the filet. Little Budha was also very good. 5) Best party atmoshere in Vegas. Everybody goes there. 6) Star watching-I saw 18 celebrities partying there during the weekend. CONS: 1) The casino is smaller than most. 2) Lines for the clubs are ridiculously long. Get there early. 3) A little off the strip.
The Greatest hotel in Vegas
from A TripAdvisor Member
We reserved our bedroom through Expedia. I was worried about potential problems that could occur at the ckeck-in. Everything went so quickly, I had to congratulate the staff about this great check-in!!! We got the exact room as promised from Expedia's website, on the 18th floor with a beautiful view of The Strip. The bedroom was clean, the bed was fluffy (400 threadcount bedsheets), nice marble washroom. We paid 100Us for a Sunday night stay. This is a very hip hotel, where cool and beautiful people hang out. We tried the mexican restaurant and it was delicious. We also went to the Skin pool in the morning, the water temperature was perfect!!! I would definitively recommend this hotel to anyone who wish to have fun in Vegas. The only downside is that the hotel is off the Strip, so be prepared to walk 15 minutes to get to the action!!!
great smaller property
from shendrix
The Palms hotel is absolutely my favortie Vegas hotel now. I love how small it is and easy to navigate. I get so lost in some of the big casinos and it drives me crazy. The rooms are beautiful and elegant and the staff is wonderful. The only thing I can't figure out is why the pool was closed in early March. The weather was plenty warm enough. Ghost is really cool but very expensive and we couldn't get into 9 to eat but it looked awesome. The breakfast buffet is crappy, but at $5.99 is cheaper than alot of other hotels of this caliber. I only paid 109.00 per night mid week through Trip Reservations and thought it was a great deal. It isn't on the Strip so you have to drive or cab it over, but I feel that there is plenty to do without leaving. Garduno's Mexican is crappy, too, if you are used to good Mexican food. The gift shop is really cool compared to alot of other places. Neat stuff in there. Definitely for the hip crowd--Hard Rock types will love it but there isn't as much action here as there.
