Bad Experience-3 different rooms in a day and a half
from A TripAdvisor Member
We checked-in on a Saturday night, the last night of the Nat'l Rodeo Finals. When reserving the room we had asked for a King non-smoking room on a high floor in the Carnival Tower with a strip view, if possible. The first room we received was 2 Queen Non-smoking in the Carnival Tower, but on the 10th floor with no strip view. We did, however, get a hole in the wall. We called the front desk, who said they didn't have our requested room until the next day. We still wanted to get out of the room with the hole in the wall, so she switched us to the same type of room on the same floor. The next day we checked into our third room, which had everything we asked for this time. Had this been our first room, our reviews may have been higher. Beware of the mini-bar! If you TOUCH anything, they will charge you. The carpet was dirty and old, and the showerhead needed replacing. Other than that, it was a decent room, for $79 Saturday, $29 Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The one great thing we did find was the shuttle to/from the Rio Hotel, but you don't need to be a guest to use it. The first night here, we ate at the Italian restaurant, Andreotti's, which had a great atmosphere and was delicious. Staff was courteous and friendly. We did most of our gambling at the Gold Coast, which we found after taking the Rio shuttle. The slots seemed to be looser, and the service was outstanding. We were only offered drinks once while gambling at Harrah's, and the slot areas were filthy, some of them covered in ashes, garbage, etc. This was quite the opposite from the Gold Coast, where we will probably stay/gamble from now on. The Mac King Comedy Show was pretty good, but don't believe those 'free coupons'. It's the most expensive 'free show' we've ever been to, with drinks at $6.95 each, even for a soft drink. We come to Vegas a few times a year, and have stayed at the Luxor, Bellagio, Bally's, Excalibur, Las Vegas Hilton, Carriage House, Tropicana, MGM Grand, and Harrah's. If you're looking for a moderately priced hotel, with clean rooms and friendly service, we would recommend the Luxor or Tropicana.
loud and smokey

I recently spent 5 nights at Harrahs and was very disappointed. Since this was my first visit to Las Vegas, I looked to these reviews for advice. I agree ... Harrahs is in a central location, but not much else was impressive. The restaurants were expensive and had mediocre food. The casino was a loud, smokey maze and there were no quiet places to escape to away from the chaos. Hotel staff were unhelpful and there was no concierge in the hotel. I guess it depends on what type of environment you are looking for in a hotel. Personally, I like being in a casino but I also enjoy having a coctail in a relaxing lounge atmosphere. Don't stay at Harrahs if you are looking for the latter.
Perfect Location at a Great Price

My wife and I stayed at Harrah's Dec. 14-19. We travel to Vegas at least once a year and stay at a different hotel almost every time. Harrah's has the perfect location, across the street from Caesar's. We paid less than $200 for 5 nights and the room was a little small but clean and pleasant. I overheard negative comments about the hotel restaurants from other guests but we ate at the buffet several times and the food and service was excellent. The free Mac King show is a riot and the Improv is a real deal if you use the 2 for 1 coupon. I would stay there again if there weren't so many other hotels to try. There's no place for great hotel deals like Las Vegas. We've traveled to many cities and stayed at some real dumps (like the Aston Islander on the Beach on the island of Kauai) but we have yet to find a bad room in Vegas.
A great place to stay for a great price!

It was our first time to Las Vegas so I was a little nervous about our hotel. Our check in experience was pleasant and since we were celebrating our anniversary, we were upgraded to a suite. Our room was spacious and comfortable although view had a view of the parking lot. Overall, we were pleased with the room. On our 2nd night our bathtub got clogged and stop draining. I called the front desk and they immediately upgraded us to a premier suite and gave us a complimentary night stay. The room was gorgeous, separate sitting are, 2 person jacquzzi tub and a tv in the bathroom. When we checked out, with the complimentary room night it cost out $19 per night. It doesn't get better than that!!!!
Good Location - BlackJack elsewhere

First trip to Vegas (Thanksgiving Weekend 2003). Harrah's has a great location!! Very centralized and easy walking to the other Hotels/Casinos and attractions. The staff was very friendly ... although I hated being bombarded several times a day by the Fairfield resort staff trying to get you to sign up for a tour. Harrah's must be in cahoots with them as they have their own booth in their main lobby and at other entrances. Don't bother... they are a ripoff! Walk by as a couple, you will get the pitch. Walk by yourself, they won't touch you. How funny! Harrah's, as the case in St. Louis, hardly ever give you a $5 blackjack table. That's why I never spend a dime in their casino. They have no single deck nor double deck tables. Instead, they have 6 to 8 deck tables which makes it harder to win. I recommend you walk next door to the Imperial Palace or O'Shea's. Imperial Palace has a ton of $5 tables (single deck, double deck, and multiple deck) and GREAT waitress service. I never finished a beer without having another one ready (plus they are free!!!). Also, they give you bottled beer versus draft... much better! O'sheas had $5 tables until around 10:00 pm or so and their waitress service is okay (every 1/2 hour maybe). Harrah's waitress service at the tables was terrible! So go ahead and stay here, but gamble elsewhere. We loved the shows at Harrah's (Clint Holmes was awesome! Mac King was a blast!). Be sure to take the free shuttle to the Rio Resort and attend the Ronn Lucas show during the afternoon... He is unbelievable!!! Then stay and attend the Shinta's (something like that) show that night. Very good. Harrah's had a great double piano bar (late evening) where they had these beautiful young blonde twins playing. They really get the crowd involved and are a LOT of fun!! They play for tips and will probably be retiring soon!! Food was pretty good at Harrah's buffet... a little pricey but what the heck, you're on vacation. My only complaint was that the seafood was served cold!!! Cold shrimp, cold crab legs and cold butter!! Where I'm from, the crab legs are served warmed/steamed with nice warm butter to dip it in. Go figure! There is a Denny's next door (100 yards down) if you are on a budget. Also a Panda's Chineese Express and Mexican place. We went downtown one morning to the Horseshoe Casino for breakfast. You can get a ham steak platter for $4.99. The ham steak hangs over the plate and is unbelievable!!! Take a bus ride there for a couple bucks each. The room at Harrah's was pretty nice. We asked for an upgrade and got it. We stayed in a small suite. The wife wished she had a whirlpool tub though... maybe if you get a master suite. In summary, Stay at Harrah's if you get a good price because the location is hard to beat. Plus they have good shows and a free shuttle to the Rio. Slots are okay (per wife), but don't bother with the blackjack tables unless you're good/lucky and you don't mind the higher minimuns.
Harrahs Hotel & Casino

We have just returned from a six night stay at Harrahs Hotel and Casino. We had requested two non-smoking King Rooms but on arrival were informed these were not available during our stay. They could only give us smoking rooms which we accecpted for the first night as they were able to offer us non-smoking rooms on a higher floor 24th with a view of The Mirage and Volcano for the other five nights.Rooms were a nice size and very comfortable.Staff were friendly and helpful. The Spa was wonderful, to use the facilities: Jacuzzi, Steam Room and Sauna was $20 per day or three days for $50 - worth every cent !The Fresh Market Buffet for breakfast and dinner were excellent. They also have a 24 hour Garden Cafe which is very good and does some excellent late night specials.Only place we didn't like was the coffee shop by the main lifts, coffee was awful.Would certainly stay here again.
Great deals at Harrah's

We stayed at Harrah's from 12-8 through 12-12 for $31/ night which I thought was a great deal especially considering that I am not a big time gambler! Rooms were clean and good sized and appeared to have been recently renovated. However, the toilet has the loudest flush imaginable!
Loved it

We had another property booked but noticed an internet special for Harrahs and changed at the last moment. Best decision we could have made. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay___great room ___good service and of course a great location on the strip. Will definately stay here again.
Treated very well

We were at Harrah's from Dec. 2 through the 6th. Rooms were very nice, clean with plenty of hot water. The staff was friendly, courteous and very helpful. We did not like the Garden restaurant or buffet. The food was not very good and service in both was very slow. Location is great so we were able to get to other places to eat easily.

Just got back from our visit to Las Vegas and had a great time. Our first visit to Harra's and staying on the Strip, it was a perfect place to stay. You are in the middle of everything! Everyone at Harra's was great. We drove and parking at Harra's was great. We only forgot once which floor we parked the car on. But easy acess to the hotel. The seafood buffet was really good. Slots were tight but the waitresses made up for that, they were great. Rooms are great for the price. We will be back.

I would recommend everybody to visit Las Vegas at least once during their lifetime. We stayed in Harrahs, which is quite central down The Strip. Great meals served all day and if you sign up to their comps you do not have to queue to enter their restaurant. All meals were... more
