the cleanest hotel ever!
this aparthotel is in a fantastic position right on the beautiful tiled promenade in the bay of sainta eulalia in ibiza. the hotel is exceptionally clean including the public areas and everything in our self catering studio worked. the staff were all very friendly and willing to please. we arrived late at night to find our studio was right next to a fire escape. the staff went to great trouble to find us a nicer studio the next day. the studios are for up to 3 adults and are small. Picture an average ensuite spanish twin bedded hotel room and add a small kitchenette with a microwave, hob, sink and a fridge plus a fold down single bed and you can imagine we were climbing over each other most of the time. however the beds were changed every other day and the room cleaned to a very high standard. the kitchenette was very compact but everything worked and there were enough pans and utensils (salt and pepper too!) in a good clean quality to enable us to self cater very well. the big bonus was the air conditioning which was vital for a good nights sleep. there was also a tv in the room with bbc channels but the signal was too poor after 7pm to watch it. the pool area was lacklustre and the pool surround very crowded with sunbeds. there was however a bar by the pool serving hot snacks and a very good value cooked breakfast. The pool was in shade from about 5pm and rather overcrowded and noisy. The evening entertainment was typically for families with young children and not sophisticated and took place in the pool area. Rooms facing onto the pool area (those advertised as sea/pool view) were therefore very noisy until after 11.30 pm there was no comfortable lounge to sit and relax in,.. there was a bar but it was upright chairs around tables and a squashy sofa or two would have made all the difference. Internet access, a large screen tv and pool tables made up the rest of the public areas which were a bit utilitarian. there was a well stocked and quite well hidden supermarket off the reception area. lots of marble, friendly staff and potential for greatness here with a renovated pool area... perfect position. we had a good holiday marred slightly by the small studio and noise from other guests. the beach is across the prom so it was easy to escape. good value for money
Truely awful place if you're singles or couples
This hotel/apartments should be marketed as a families only resort. Upon arrival, thankfully, after specifically asking and paying an additional euro 125.00, we upgraded to a one bed apartment with pool view. Apartment was clean enough to start with but the quality of cleaning for rest of week was poor and we had to ask for someone to clean the floors Bed linen wasnt changed all week. Bathrooms are ok with lots of hot water. But the worst was the pool area, even if we'd wanted to, we couldnt have got a poolside lounger without getting up at 4am. If i'd read that this hotel was specifically aimed at families i wouldnt have booked and our weeks holiday was prior to school finishing for summer break and it was full of families. The positioning of the hotel, just of the beach, made up for how unfriendly this hotel is towards singles and couples. The beach is spectacular but take extra funds to pay for loungers and umbrellas, but worth it. Apartment was ok, hotel enviroment not good, bar & disco just awful.
great family holiday
Arrived back from the Orquidea recently. Fabulous holiday, this is the second time we have been there. Perfect for families with young children. Leila (German) and Kevin (english) fantastic with the kids!!. Games every day by the pool hardly seen my son all day (9 years old) . On the beach with my daughter (3 years old) she had a fab time. When we were there, there had been storms and all the seaweed had been washed up on to the beach however every day truck loads of the stuff were driven away and in a couple of days it was clear. The Orquidea apartments are basic accomodation and they are absolutley spotless maids in the place all day. Maids are there to clean your room 6 days a week towels changed everyday, linen about 5-6 times in the fortnight. Food is okay quite a lot of choice, however Santa Eulalia has an abundance of Restaurants to suit all pockets would recommend paying for 7 days half board once you arrive and then trying out all the fab places to eat which included "Daffers" on restaurant row which is amazing value at 12.50 Euros for a three course meal with an amazing choice of dishes, this is between 6_8 pm. The male receptionist here is very very nice and helped my husband a out with a lot of information. Hotel also very good when my father took ill and we needed a Doctor!. Doctor Davina was her name and she was absolutely fantastic. Dad receovered well after her treatment.
okay
the rooms need updating, if you are taking kids- keep them in place...to many brit kids allowed to run wild. excellant location. the resort is brilliant. cheesy entertainment so make sure you are off the complex by 9pm or you will be stuck listening to agadoo for three hours.receptionist needs some customer service training. great for a cheap deal and great if you have a young family.
A Really Nice Week ...
Me and my boyfriend went away for one week to this very friendly, clean hotel......and beautiful resort. Our first impressions of the hotel were that it appeared more then the 3 star rating it had been given!!! The reception area was large, clean, and well maintained, with very helpful staff. The pleasant woman on reception asked us if we would like to upgrade to Sea View Room. It was a reasonable price so we agreed to this upgrade! We was on the third floor in a room we were delighted with. It was a clean, well laid out room with a good sized balcony and an amazing view of the pool areas and the beach and sea which was right on our doorstep! However the cooking facilities,i.e....pans, utilities, electric hob, were not of a high standard and would be difficult for a family wishing to cook a meal! (We had trouble cooking a fried egg with the supplied basic pan.....The egg ended up scrambled in the Micro-wave!!!) The rooms were kept clean to quite a high standard as maids visited the room every morning.(sometimes a little to early)! They provided clean sheets and towels at least three times during our weeks stay. This hotel is perfect for couples with young children...as the kids entertainment was superb!!! The entertainers were fantastic throughout the day with pool activites....and equally as good during the night entertainment with games and singalongs for all.....even we felt the need to take part! There are two beaches close the hotel, one right on the doorstep which is a nice beach but the one abit further down is even better a really nice beach! Small fish will swim around your feet whilst your in the sea at one end of the beach. As a young couple we enjoyed chilling out during the day, and going out on a night the night life there is reasonable but more focused for an older age group or families with small children ! We visited many nice resturants and bars. A great English bar with gorgeous english food (nice full english breakfast to help with hangovers!). There is boat trips from the marina to different parts of Ibiza at a good price, we enjoyed these! And enjoyed our day in Ibiza Town! All in all our week at this hotel was a brillant week, we would visit again! Strongly recommended to families with small children though! A really nice holiday !
Great for Gran's and Kids
I stayed at this aparthotel with my 9 year old son and my 83 year old disabled mother for a week commencing the 16th October this year, We had a great time. There was plenty of sporting activities for my son to take part in ranging from water pole to cross bow, darts, squash, pool and much much more. He had a great time and couldn"t get from one activity to another quickly enough. My mother is in a wheelchair and the hotel has ramps(although somewhat steep) and lift (somewhat narrow for a wheelchair) so you can access all part of the hotel. The hotel was very, very clean although our room as a little small. The beach is a stones throw away. There is a flat promanade and the town centre, shops and restaurants are very wheelchair friendly. There is also a ferry service so you can get almost anywhere. I would highly recommend this hotel. We did go out of season so it was not very crowded, we always managed to get a sunbed and the pool area was great. We had a side room and were not bothered at all by any noise from the evening entertainment and had a lovely sea view. We will be going back again next year as this was one of the best holidays we have ever had.
A really good holiday
We were three adults in our sixties and we arrived back last week after a lovely holiday. We upgraded to pool view room and on the only two night we wanted an earlier night we found shutting the balcony doors kept out most of the noise from the fun down below. Other nights we joined in or sat on the balcony. The entertainment was good family fun and we laughed a lot. There was not a sound from the disco which ran after midnight - how did they do that? One night I had to complain about the people in the room above making a lot of noise between two and three am - it was dealt with right away and in such a nice way! We upgraded to meals, too, and were delighted with the choice of food on offer - well cooked and beautifully served by cheerful staff - and as everyone mentions, the whole place is spotless. We enjoyed having the beach right beside the hotel, handy ferries - we went everywhere on them, the beautiful shops with such friendly local people in them. The only day we wanted sunbeds we did not have a problem but we were well out of main season. At our age we would not consider a main season holiday but are hoping to come again with our son and his family. They will have a new baby and the cleanliness is something that impressed us. It was our first package holiday in decades and our first trip to Ibiza - we'll be back!
A great base for your holiday
My Husband and I have just come back from a week's stay at the Orquidea. On arrival we were offered a pool view room for a small suppplement which we took and the views were lovely overlooking the sea too. We were on the 4th floor which did minimise some of the evening entertainment noise but it was very loud even when you shut the doors and windows - there was no way you could even contemplate getting to bed before midnight (and that was during term time in October!). The situation with the sunbeds around the pool every morning was ridiculous but the beach was gorgeous, clean and really quiet so we went over there each day (not really much of a trek!). The resort of Santa Eulalia is lovely but try and get away from the main sea front as there are some really nice restaurants further into town. A walk up the river and up to the Puig de Misa is a must for some gorgeous views. Overall the hotel is great as you use it as a base and somewhere to rest you head at night like we did - otherwise it may just be a bit too 'Brits Abroad'.
Honest Orquidea Review
The orquidea an apart hotel right next to the beach and on the promenade near to all the restaurants as opposed to the sol ibiza which is set out a short walk. I found the hotel to be very clean throughout, the reception was spotless as was our room and each morning I could see the maids cleaning the hotel from top to bottom. As we stayed in the hotel off peak season (2nd week of september) the hotel wasn't as noisey as I imagine it could get in the main holiday months. The only noise was from the lift, as our room was right next door to it and the constant noise of it going up and down as well as the people congregated arround it was very annoying! The staff were very freindly and mostly courteous, the only disapointment was the loutish english people who seem to dominate and pretty much spoil all spanish resorts. Santa Eulalia was for me the nicest part of Ibzia, I found San Antionio far to commercial populated with too many of the gold clad English potato shaped people. The Orquidea would suit families groups looking for a cheep and cheerful holiday.
loved the atmosphere
great hotel, very clean. friendly hotel staff. kevin & leila was great entertainers. never got bored. i have 2 daughters, 15 & 11. both made friends. going back next year.
