Sleep Inn Maingate Hotel

We stayed here last week for a week and it was fantastic. The hotel was immaculate, staff friendly and there was a breakfast buffet to die for! The hotel is situated on the 192, but I couldn't hear any traffic noise, there are shops (gift and supermarket) nearby and plenty of restaurants within walking distance. We took full advantage of the courtesy shuttle to both Disney and Universal, drivers were friendly and the times suited us - however they may be more frequent in season. The hotel housekeeping took good care of the rooms and the front desk staff was courteous. We were there for a week and we enjoyed the stay. The hotel has a good location and close to everything which was nice. A very good experience.

My wife and I checked in January 19, 2005. The tile in the lobby was being removed with sledge hammers, the room we were given had not been cleaned (the desk said their computer showed it ready), the new room was closer to the remodeling (a safety handrail in the shower had a screw missing, the fridge made noise most of the night, and the tubless shower was made for a person about 5 feet tall). Thanksgiving Weekend 2004 - I would definitley recommend this hotel to first time Disney visitors. Price are great. We always found good parking spaces. Breakfast was great for complimentary service. Across the street from numerous souveniour shops, for last minture shopping. Hotel was full when we checked in, but we had no problem acquiring crib for the baby, even though it was slightly flemsy. My husband and i have just returned from a 10 night stay at the sleep inn maingate. Our room was great not huge, but clean, certainly did not smell. We got a fridge and freezer, a micro wave, coffee maker and tv. Free internet in our room (you need your own lap top) All the staff were extremely helpful especially Dahli our housekeeper and zena on reception. We stayed at this hotel during October 2004 and was surprised at its good quality. The hotel was clean and never appeared over crowded or noisy even when it was full. The staff were all helpful. The breakfast was more than ample with much more choice than I had expected. I will certainly be using this hotel again and will be recommending it to friends and family. One point however is that it can be hard to see the hotel from the 192 as it is hidden behind at Mermaid Gift Shop and IHOP.

We certainly will not make another reservation at this hotel. We arrived at 1800 hrs after a 9 hour flight from the U.K. Hurricane Jeanne was approaching and a curfew was imposed starting at 2300 hrs. This hotel said out Travel Agent had cancelled our 6 nights reservation and they were full. We had nowhere to stay. We rang our Agent who said that what the hotel said was completely untrue and full marks to them, they found us alternative accommodation 20 miles away. Hurricane Charley notwithstanding, we probably would not stay at this particular hotel again. Firstly, if you stay, RENT A CAR! The "free" shuttle service takes you to the parks too late in the morning and picks you up too early in the evening to take advantage of the entire Disney experience. Plus, if you need to come back early for any reason, there is only one shuttle in and one shuttle out per day. Pretty good deal for $50 a night and convenient for 5 girls who didn't want any hassle. Free hot breakfast galore with fresh fruit and pastries, free shuttle to Disney theme parks and Universal at convenient times in the morning and evening, beautifully appointed rooms and great inside hotel in general. No qualms whatsoever and would definately stay there again.

We enjoyed our time here. It's a very reasonably priced convenient hotel. I was pleasantly surprised after reading negative ratings here to find this hotel very comfortable. Staff was helpful and our 5 days stay here was very pleasant. Check out took about 30 seconds - as promised. Sound insulation could be improved but overall it was a very good experience. Would definitely stay here agin in the future.
