Occidental Allegro Punta Cana Hotel Reviews
" Has Beautiful white sandy beach,... "

Has Beautiful white sandy beach, friendly staff, clean apartments, & plenty to do.
The complex has a big stage for evening entertainment, several restaurants including speciality grills Spanish & Caribbean delights.
In the main restaurant there is a different theme every day. There is a snack restaurant on the beach also...Overall very good food in all the restaurants.
Highly Recommended*****

" I thought this hotel was brilliant... "

I thought this hotel was brilliant there was nothing I could really fault it on!
Most of the staff were very friendly (just some entertainment staff were a bit ignorant but only a few!), 'Clemente' one of the bar staff was so funny and always so happy, singing and making you lethal drinks!!
There was always some activities going on, on the beach and around the pool. I thought the entertainment was really good they made loads of effort with them (the best 2 were a grease show and a lion king show).
I enjoyed all the trips we went on the reps you booked them with were brilliant really chatty! Bit disappointed with manatee park wasn’t as good as I thought, but still enjoyed it as they had a cute parrot show and I swam with the dolphins (wasn’t really worth it as didn’t spend much time in the water with them as I had previously in Cuba).
I'd recommend the outback safari it was brilliant and our guide, Rafael, made the trip really enjoyable but be careful as you end up really drunk! They have endless bottles of rum I drank myself sober (they have bottles of 7up and Pepsi where half gets poured out and replaced with rum! and bottles of very very strong lager!)
Its a really long trip lasts all day but definitely varied throughout and value for money.
May sound it but it’s not just for adults! Kids were on it and they enjoyed it too. Enjoyed the horse riding and helicopter trip was brilliant gorgeous views of the island! Back to the hotel.....!
Food was really nice lots of choice wasn’t expecting much as on a previous hol in Cuba I ate nothing but tomato pasta for 18 days! Food is really nice though I always found something and I'm bit fussy on hols! Just wasn’t keen on the pizzas, cheese absolutely stunk! But everything else was brilliant.
Restaurants were good the grill one was the best with gorgeous Mexican food and nice atmosphere as you’re outside.
Drinks were good too they have a cocktail of the day every day which was good and you can get as many bottles of water as you want all drinks were always ice cold, each bar was brilliant although we never tried the nightclub as we was too knackered by that time!!
Pool was nice and we always got a good spot whatever time it was, same on the beach....brilliant!
I thought the rooms were nice nothing really fancy but always clean and spacious we made a right mess every day then it would be immaculate after cleaners had been in they must have hated us! They were also really polite!
Overall I'd definitely recommend this hotel and this part of the Dominican.

" We spend two excellent weeks on... "

We spend two excellent weeks on Honeymoon at the Occidental Allegro - Punta Cana in January 2004. Our first time in the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean - the nine hour flight from Gatwick was better than expected with Britannia (Thomson). We arrived mid afternoon on New Years Eve. The transfer from the airport took around 1/2 an hour, which was enjoyable as we had our first glimpses of life on this island. On arrival at the Allegro, we were greeted by hotel staff including bellboys who promptly took our cases to our rooms. A welcome drink was offered as we checked in.
Our room was placed very centrally in the complex - overlooking the pool and stage area. The room was excellent with a huge triple bed, air conditioning, television, and some basic furnishings. Bathroom was basic but had a superb shower.
Eating out at the Allegro was always pleasant and varied. We were allowed 3 bookings a week for dinner at a choice of a la carte restaurants. The Italian was our favourite along with the seafood restaurant. The other evenings we ate at the large buffet 'Topaz' restaurant. This was also venue for breakfast. Choice was huge and many dishes were cook on request by chefs for you. Lunchtimes we ate by the beach, pool and at the Topaz.
Nightime entertainment consisted of cabaret shows by the Animation Team or relaxing at the main bar or beach bar. For night owls there was also a fairly lively disco bar that closed around 2.30am. We watched a few shows but most night we chilled in the quieter bars - chatting to other holidaymakers. We were the only Scottish folk in the resort, but enjoyed chatting to Americans, Canadians and other nationalities.
Most days we lay by the pool or at the beach. The pool was quite lively with games, music and other activities morning and afternoon. The beach was very pleasant and we enjoyed sea kayaking, banana boat rides and browsing round the small local market.
We also did two excursions. The first was The Monster Truck Safari. A great day out round farms, plantations, towns and a chance to meet the local people. The DR is not a rich country and many of the people live in very basic conditions - they are however very welcoming. Best highlight were the kids on the sugar plantation who sang for us, and a visit to The Voodoo House. The other excursion we enjoyed was a day out in the Caribbean on a catamaran. We enjoyed snorkelling and feeding the fish, and a couple of hours on Isla Catalina. On board we enjoyed lunch and numerous Cuba Libres (Rum & Cokes).
Overall a great Honeymoon. When in the DR do try to speak Spanish even a little goes a long way, as do the odd dollar tip to staff at the hotels that are helpful.

The place is spotless, the staff friendly and apart from getting busy at weekends with locals coming in on weekend passes, I cant fault the place.
Yes the entertainment at night isny the royal variety show, but a couple of rum punches and good company made it a "spot on " hol..Get booked up
