First impressions impressive, but entertainment needs a diffe-rent area,it is loud.Room spacious, but tea making facilities would be nice in the room.Hotel very clean, staff help full, polite, friendly, very fast clearing our used dishes away @ meals, food acceptable as 4*had better.Had the impression there was costing cut backs on food.Hotel is in a select area opposite the twice weekly market, down hill to the beach and shops, restaurants.Near to the new Delduce shopping centre for your designer wear.Plenty of taxis near by.
Overall the food didn't impress like the rest of the hotel, hence the lower rating and at times children were running about and playing in lifts out of control, there wasn't any security walking about for the calibre of the hotel.

A very good hotel located in a quiet area of the resort, walkable to the small beach (but an uphill walk back). Nice rooms with good air con, though the shower could have been better. Excellent public areas with four nice pools (inc a roof pool) - though a few more parasols would be good. Bars are good as are the snacks. Food is generally good with a wide selection, not overly busy and always something we liked.
Entertainment inc mini-disco was very good (through tended to be busy which stretched the bar service). Animators were good with day time activities and mini-club - though this didn't always follow the advertised program.
Spa was under used and poorly advertised, needed some minor maintenance work, and was expensive.
We will probably return and would recommend this hotel, which deserves the 5* rating on the island. Note the hotel is not in a central area near night life (which is what we wanted - some peace and quiet).

first impression of the hotel is first class reception staff very efficient luggage delivered to the room by porter while we had a welcome drink at the pool bar.hotel room spacious and clean very good selection of complimentary toiletries in the bathroom, one poor point was that the over the bath shower water temperature fluctuates while in use which makes it very difficult to enjoy a long shower.Service at the bars friendly and the waiters are always at hand to serve you at your table, good selection of all inclusive drinks and snacks. The only negative with the hotel is the main restaurant where the quality of the food really lets the hotel down more 3 star than the 5 star the meat was mostly inedible being either all gristle and fat or so tough making it impossible to eat.but there was all ways a good selection of cold meats and cheese at the salad bar. Breakfasts were reasonable but with wierd extras (carrots/green beans ect)butter was available in the restuarant for the first few days then changed to margerine when i requested some butter i was informed that the butter was now all gone and not possible to get(very poor).hotel entertainment was the usual kids disco followed by various acts like flamenco dancers, singers, acrobats, groups plus the usual embarrassing animation teams version of saturday night fever (we managed to watch for 10 minutes before heading out of the hotel for the rest of the evening. The cleaning staff were excellent keeping the hotel spotless. overall we found the holiday reasonable value for money and might return one day.

The hotel look impressive and the rooms are of a good standard. Location is out of the way, too far to walk to the beach and other activities, need to use taxis.
The biggest problem with this hotel is the FOOD. What ever anybody says the food is almost inedible and an absolute disgrace to Tenerife. We had to eat out even for breakfast, terrible............terrible....

We really enjoyed our stay at the Gran. It had great space in all its public areas, and the bedrooms were some of the largest that we have stayed in. Lots of hanging space for your clothes as well. The maids worked really hard and it was certainly one of the cleanest hotels that we could remember. The staff we found friendly and helpful but not intrusive. And the evening entertainment was good fun on the whole.
Although we didn't really want to go half board, as we generally like to eat out, that was the most economical option. But the buffet was excellent with a huge choice and themed evenings. We were always found a table immediately and the waiting staff worked really hard to make the meals go well.
What we really loved most of all was the pool area. Although one of the pools was just too cold for either of us (!) the other was perfect and lovely and big. A shame really as two pools would have been heaven. We hardly saw anyone brave enough to go in the other pool for our entire stay. It seems a waste as it looked lovely and was asiduously cleaned every morning. We didn't try the pool on the roof but it looked good too.
We would thoroughly reccommend this hotel for both couples and family groups. The kid's club seemed really active as was the mini-disco every evening!

The Costa Adeji Gran is a lovely hotel. Immaculately clean and with very good staff. The entrance area was the largest I had ever seen and reception were always keen to please. The food was pretty good, I went expecting little but was very pleasantly surprised. The pools are gorgeous, especially the one on the roof as quiet and peaceful. i would definately recommend going if you are a family or a couple as its quiet, clean, friendly and generally very good value.

Having travelled extensively and stayed in 5 star hotels on business in various cities I was curious as to what the standard of a 5 star hotel offered as part of a package deal might be like. I need not have worried. The architecture appears to have been influenced by the Taj in Mumbai (not the new annex, but the original building). The rooms were of a good size and very comfortable, altho' the one night we went to bed early (prior to departure) it was apparent that the soundproofing could have been better.
The breakfasts were extensive - pretty much anything you could think of (bar the exotic) was available. The pool area was wonderful - facing west so you got sun all day long - and quiet given the number of people around. OK, only one pool was heated but the keen swimmers appeared to be happy to use the larger, unheated pool anyway.
There was evening entertainment in the bar area but it was not intrusive if you weren't interested. The animators offered pool-side activities but again without being intrusive. The staff were unfailingly polite and helpful, particularly at reception. The pool-side bar/snack staff were working under pressure and the strain showed a little, but all that was required was a little patience. Some spoke only rudimentary English, but then my Spanish is far from perfect...
Essentially, this is NOT a hotel that would stack up against the Peninsula in Hong Kong or the Taj in New Delhi but then again you are not paying anything like the same price per night. As part of a package holiday, if you are looking for relaxation rather than the night-life, I can only recommend it.

Can strongly recommend this hotel -we own a 5 Star hotel in the UK and expect high standards - we would not have been to the Gran 13 times if the hotel did not achieve these.
Have read the occassional comment about food quality in different reviews -over exaggerated and inaccurate. You only have to queue for the dining room if you go down before it opens ! and in 5 years we have never seen re-heated food.Dining staff are plentiful, tables are quickly cleared and food quality is good.
If you experience problems and tell no one complaining on a website is somewhat childish. This is the only hotel we have visited where if you make a suggestion something actually happens to improve things. ie: no reserving of sunbeds and towels removed by security !
Our only problem is that Thomas Cook closed Orhicd Travel down in April 2008 so finding good prices are difficult. The hotel director Mr Ortega is willing to accept direct bookings

having been recommended this hotel we feel that the five star rating is exagerated;3-4 star more suited ;like other guest we felt staff in and around dining area to be very stressed and having to queue to gain access to restraunt very a big turn off;when seated the staff were very slow to wait tables and the food on display was not of every day consumption;breakfast usually consisted of reheated left overs from dinner from previuos night;the hotel was very clean as was the pool area;the staff (excl rest,t staff)were very polite and helpfull;if this hotel had to improve on food and restraunt staff we would consider going back;we spent a lot of money to get this holiday only to be let down by the restraunt facilities and food

Have visited this hotel for the second time and once again had a wonderful holiday.
The hotel is kept spotlessly clean and the staff are very helpful.
Don't know how anyone can complain about the food.......there is so much selection to choose from.....and I've gained weight to prove it!
Lovely indoor and outdoor seating areas where bar staff are very attentive.
The rooftop pool is my favourite with spectacular views of Adeje and surrounding area.
Would certainly return again.

My husband & I had an excellent holiday in this 5* hotel. On arriving by taxi we were very impressed by the glass front of the hotel .
As well as the reception desk the foyer has a waterfall, aviary, piano bar, and several secluded seating areas. The staff were very polite & friendly and could not do enough for you.
Our room was lovely and was cleaned daily , towels & bathrobes were changed daily too and sheets changed several times a week.
We used the pool on the 6th floor this had decking and very comfortable sunbeds which the security men ensured were not reserved.People who did try to do so would come back to find their towels / belongings removed.
This pool area has fantastic views and you could see along the coast as far as Parque Santiago in Las Americas.
Initially we thought the buffet restaurant did not have a lot of choice but this was due to the layout of it as there were several areas in the dining room once we found our way around we discovered there was a good selection and we always found something which we enjoyed .
The bar in the hotel was cheaper than the bars in the resort or in Las Americas which was surprising.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary & my birthday while we were staying in the hotel and on both ocassions returned to our room to find champagne, water & chocolates which was a lovely surprise.
There is a steep hill across from the hotel which leads down to the front however if you come out of the hotel and turn left you can make your way down to the front .
The El Duque shopping centre is worth a look with lovely shops, cocktail bars etc and the walk along to the right past the El Duque hotel was really enjoyable.
Although this area is much quiter (& cleaner) than Las Americas there is something for everyone.
There are several good restaurants on the sea front and bars with the usual tribute acts.
There is a really nice (although small shopping area Playa Fanabe) which has a variety of restaurants such as Chinese, Steakhouses, Little Italy and even a Burger King also a few small bars.
Also on the sea front there are several play areas for children plus crazy golf , trampolines etc.
Once you are on the promenade it is only a 10 min walk to the Torviscas area and the Las Americas market where there are loads of bars etc.
We had a most enjyable holiday in this excellent hotel will definitely return.

My friend and I have just returned from Adeje and found the hotel to be very good meeting our needsand all we had expected . What you read in the brochure is what you get . The cleanliness and staff support are excellent . Always able to help and give advice(more than the first choice rep who was useless)
The woman on the advice desk was particu;arly helpful and helped us with bus info, taxi prices etc.
We found the choice of food to be very good and we each found something to meet our needs . certainly would return for a week of sunshine and comfortand for the price we found it to be very good
