We went to the Aguarmarina at the begining of June, there were 12 of us ages from 16 - 51 and we all had an amazing time, the apartments are spacious and clean, the pool had just been re-tiled and was lovely. Our double balcony looked over the harbour (room 403) the staff... more

Pleasant Surprise
Previous reviews made us apprehensive before going but we were pleasantly surprised: food - excellent range for each meal and good variations, plus satisfactory quantity and quality, cleanliness of public areas and rooms first class, demeanour of all staff from chamber maids to bar staff to receptionists helpful and genuinely friendly; pool amenities were great. The decor of the rooms a little tired but clean & comfortable. The entertainment by the French 'animators' a bit avarage even for middle aged. Some rooms facing the pool would have been disturbed during the day by nearby building work but the vast majority were not affected. Would recommend it in a heartbeat.
Not Happy With All Inclusive
Stayed in Feb half -term (ours was 15th to 22nd)at the Hotels Apartments, which we were quite impressed with! Very spacious and the daily maid service was outstanding. Reception in both the Hotel and Apartment was a bit hit and miss depending on what mood they were in! Not very impressed with the food - unless you want to eat the same thing every day then I would steer clear of All Inc - and also because you were given a slip on entry and you were offered one drink and made to feel as though you could not ask for anymore! We sussed this out and started to ask for a bottle of wine on an evening! Plenty of sunbeds and pools were cleaned daily - they were on the cold side but to be expected this time of year. The entertainment was French - and there was no other British kids around! IF YOU WANT TO DO A CANARIES HOL IN FEB HALF TERM THEN I SUGGEST LANZAROTE - PAPAGAYO ARENA HOTEL!!!!
Not 4 Star
Certainly not a four star hotel - where were the fluffy bathrobes depicted on the website?? Not in my room! The mini bar was completely empty not even a bottle of water, and no toiletries (though I gather the Saga people got those and bathrobes.) The room overall was in need of refurbishment with shabby soft furnishings. The bed was like sleeping on concrete and my outlook onto the road. The balcony had no light and white plastic furniture well past its best. The pool is small and unattractive. The food though well presented was absolutely stone cold - have you ever eated cold bacon and eggs?? It was cold at breakfast, lunch and dinner. I would most certainly not recommend this hotel to anyone used to a four star standard, the hotel merits two stars at the very most. Disappointing.
Aguamarina Golf, Lovely hotel
Great hotel, lovely quiet location, great food, great service, great pools, plenty of activities. Would most definately return to Aguamarina Golf
Good except for the building site
We (wife and me) stayed in early December. We went all inclusive for a week and the food choice was excellent most days. There were lots of good fish dishes. The house red wine was quite qwoffable and the bar staff were fast and efficient. The hotel staff were very helpful and most spoke enough English. Outdoor pool was a bit cool but there is a pool down by their Beach Club which is fed with warm water, v. good. Indoor pool very warm and not crowded. Rooms were kept very clean and linen changed regularly. There was a public holiday while we were there and restaurant and bars got very busy, otherwise there was plenty of room at the pool, bar and dining room but we were low season. Visitors were about 40% British, rest mixed, quite a few French. Locally there were bars etc and enough shops and a small weekly market just across from the hotel. You can walk along the coast to San Blas, about 20 mins, a small holiday village with loads more shops and bars. And then there is the building site right in between the hotel and the sea, a definite problem.
Building works alert !
After having had a very pleasant stay at this hotel at about the same time last year, we decided to return for another week. The hotel was as welcoming as before, with well maintained public rooms; comfortable and regularly cleaned bedrooms and an excellent and varied buffet . The staff, especially those in the dining room, were unfailingly polite and pleasant. The main problem - and the reason we will not be going again - is the building work which is currently taking place around the hotel. To be fair, this work had just started when we were there last year - and it was mentioned in the brochure when we booked (and then confirmed by our travel company). Last year, however, the workmen were just clearing the site nearest the sea and this caused little noise or nuisance. This time around, they are working on what is now a three story extension directly facing the existing hotel, and this work continues on a daily basis (with a break over the weekends). For those who have paid extra for a sea view, the building site could not be more intrusive (see the accompanying photographs, taken from our 2nd floor balcony). Although we were assured that work would not start before 9am (later revised to 8am) and cease before 6pm the first banging started around 7am - and men were still working well after 6 each night. Somewhat oddly, they appear to have tried to make the outlook somewhat more attractive by hanging a couple of panels part way along the front of the building depicting yachts on the sea ....this didn't really improve matters ! According to the model in the hotel foyer, this extension will more than double the size of the existing hotel - and will effectively block the sea view for most of those staying in the present building. The work is due (apparently) to complete by December 2007. I would recommend that anyone intending to visit before then checks how far this target has been achieved, unless they wish to spend their holiday on top of a building site.....
Terribly rude staff.
Hotel was very nice, however the attitude and sheer rudeness of staff was staggering. I would not hesitate to advise all not to visit this hotel. The staff were rude, argumentative and always insitsant on having the last word when your concerns were voiced. Without doubt the worst experience of rudeness I have come across in years of travelling.
Does not deserve 4 stars !!!
We were a group of 6 persons and we joined the Aguamarina Golf through an agency. We picked the all included package,though...Lets see, in order to get a proper meal you should get in quickly because if you go late all you find is scattered food as they dont replace the trays, the rooms are big,but they lack in decorations and the cleaning staff acts terrible.they woke us up several days at 10.00 am! they stoled the dont disturb sign from the door right from day one,not to mention they just knock once and then they go right in...the entrance door is like a meter and a half from the bathroom door, say you walk out from the shower naked..(it happend to me).During the 7 days we were there they havent changed the sheets, all the same not to mention, mine had a big hole in it on a side...all they were changing were the towels but some of those stained too..Dust all over the room, not to mention the terrace..Now the all included package did not say that after 11 pm you have to pay if you want a drink.during the day the will charge you a suplement if you ask for a fancier thing.the pool bar has just fries and hot dogs..the bus that should pick you up from the airport to the hotel and vice versa is always late, the one who takes you to the center as well..the reception staff seemed bored when asking a question and i saved the best for last,in order to get to our rooms that were downstairs you have to pass a a door, next to the door there is a sign that says "Cuarto de maletas" in spanish that means Luggage room so...forgot to say,we stayed there 12-19 this september.I definately do not recommend this hotel to anyone, better go to a 3 * and get much better service...
'not a four star hotel'
My boyfriend and i stay in Aguamarina golf Hotel for 7nights and got a good cheap deal for an all inclusive holiday in a four star hotel, although the were some downfalls to the holiday... There was a card system which was for the hotel room door (and the bar if you were all inclusive)which we had trouble with everyday as ours repeatidly broke. The resort was full of really ignorent spanish people that would just walk into you!! There were few english families. The food was not nice at all it was an open buffet and there were flys hovering over it, most of the meats were pink inside. The resort was in the middle of no where really and if you wanted to go to the town at night it was 40euros in a taxi there and back and only 4 people can fit in one taxi. The pool was nice and relaxing but the water was salty! There was a poolbar where you could get chips and ice-cream during the day. The night entertainment was good the entertainers tryed there best, and they also did activerties during the day. overall i would give this hotel a maximum of5 out of 10
Superb value !
We booked good deals for our accommodation (half board) via Alpharooms and the flights direct with XL. We had expected to find the hotel full of SAGA residents but this was not the case - instead, a real mix of nationalities and behaviours which is always fun to watch. Don't worry about noise from low flying planes - instead, consider the fact that there is building works (Mon-Fri) right between the hotel itself and the beach club. The hotel is not the most attractive building and there are no grounds or scenic views to mention. The main pool is saltwater and smaller than the brochure photos suggested - you did get a feeling of sunbathing in a concrete jungle. The rooms are spacious and the air conditioning was very welcome. There are only a few good restaurants and bars within 15 mins walking distance so hiring a car is a good option as taxi fares can be pricey. If you need airport transfers, you must book via canaryforum.com - they missed our pick up from the hotel but I was pleasantly surprised to find an email awaiting our return full of apology and refund - that's customer care for you. Food is plentiful although there was no air conditioning in the restaurant so you soon noticed the smell of cooking on your clothes on leaving. Overall a good time but would not return as the location is poor and far from picturesque. Weather fantastic.
