Sonia Studios

This is a wonderful place for a relaxing beach holiday. Be aware you have to buy your own sunbeds and umbrellas though or if you are really lucky some kind English people that are leaving may leave them for you.
The sea is very cold even with temperatures of 46 degrees and it drops quickly. Not the most ideal sea for young children. The resort is so quiet even in August and the tavernas just brilliant for a good range of very good meals and so cheap. We found a brilliant taverna just in the back streets called Antonis (behind the church) you always get a breeze up there and you can get away from the hustle and bustle of the main street.
The Finnissia Hotel was a very clean hotel but if you are waiting for a continental breakfast forget it. It was dry bread (not fresh) jam and honey and something that resembled orange juice! We took our own cheese, ham and fruit down to the breakfast table and they were happy for us to do that. It would be better value in an apartment to buy your own. The rooms were spotless and linen and towel change every 3 days. The only real problem is there are no safety deposit boxes and we therefore carried all our credit cards around with us all day. We were told the place was very trusting but believe me the Sonia Studios next to our hotel were robbed in our second week there. The intruders even went into a room when the room was occupied and frightened the life out of a lady. The owners I believe did give the room where 150 euros had been stolen the money back but don't always believe it is a safe place. Everywhere you go there is always someone who is watching you and will take your belongings if they so want so why should Finikounda be any different?
We would have appreciated if our Kosmar reps had told us to be on the look out for thieves but they never came near. All in all though a fantastic holiday was had by us in a most beautiful part of the world. I would thoroughly recommend it.

Have been to Finikounda for the last 3 years, the last 2 staying at the Sonia. They are spacious, have a double and single bed. Would definitely recommend them.
We hired a car from Gordan and visited Golden Beach, Voidakilia, Polylimni lakes, absolutely gorgeous.
Sonia's mum (mamma tula) is lovely and makes you feel very welcome. The nearest snack bar is run by Costa and his 3 brothers and is open very late; so is ideal if you arrive late and peckish, open all day for snacks for the beach and will do sandwiches for your return journey.
There are usually lilos, sun beds and parasols under the stairs at Sonias left by previous guests so check before buying any.
Roll on 2008 when we will return.

We first stayed in Finikounda in 2000 and loved it. Finikounda itself is very "Greek", very pretty and not touristy, the tavernas and restaurants in and around the resort are excellent and nearby are the resorts methoni and koroni, both well worth visiting.
We returned in 2005 and stayed in Sonia studios.
I can only say that everything is first class, i.e. the location, the layout and the facilities in the studios and Sonia, the owner, and Martha (her mum in law I think and the lady who takes care of the studios) are wonderful people who, after only two weeks, feel like old friends and make you want to return, which we are doing very soon.
We can't wait. We know we will have a fantastic holiday.
I would like to add that Kosmar are excellent tour operators, their staff in resort are great and I plan to use Kosmar for my future holidays to Greece.

Wendy and Gordon were fantastic as reps. My son was ill on holiday and Wendy and Gordon helped me getting him to the doctors and getting him home.
Their family was over from America but this did not stop them helping me in my time of need. I do not know what I would have done without their help and support.
I have booked another holiday in Finikounda in September and I cannot wait to see Wendy and Gordon again as they are fantastic reps. Wendy and Gordon are an asset to Kosmar holidays.
