Tips for the hotel & the area
from suyoung
I think others already said enough of the hotel so I wanna write about my experiences exploring the area. the most important rule (for budget conscious traveller) is 'DONT BOOK ANY TOUR WITH JEWEL!', most of the hotel residents came from UK with Jewel in the Crown and were invited to 'welcome meeting' which you book tours with the rep. THEY ARE RIP-OFFs! seriously, they charge you 50%-200% more than the local agencies. We booked only one tour but the rep said ' we are very busy blah blah, all tours will be fully booked out if you don't book today' it's all [--]. you can find local agencies everywhere and book any tour until midnight for the next day tour. ALWAYS SHOP AROUND FOR THE BEST! Anyways, here're my reviews. LEYTUR HOTEL: good but basic. the staffs are extremely friendly and the turkish night is a must. but I'd recommend to those want to be in between Fethiye and Oludeniz. but if you want to relax in the resort/beach area most of the time, I'd recommend to stay in 4 or 5 star hotel half board or all inclusive.. because Leytur and Ovacik has not much to offer. it's nice to relax and we found it fine because we were very active exploring other areas. we booked Leytur for 1-week bed & breakfast for GBP285 but thought it was cheap. but actually we spent 15-30 pound per person a day for lunch and dinner and dolmus rides. plus, considering 3 pound charge per night for use of airconditioner, we could have stayed at 4/5 star hotel with half board/all inclusive option if we wanted to relax and stay in the hotel. (only if you are budget conscious) OVACIK: there's nothing around the hotel.. if you walk along the main street you find a few restaurants. but the town is dead. you have to take dolmus most of the time to get out. HISARONU: There's big town full of bars, restaruants, tour agencies etc.. and it's 99% BRITISH. no wonder it's called 'English village' by locals. you can find everything incl english breakfast, sky sports, etc.. but it was not for me. (well, not being a British, I wanted to see Turkey) OLUDENIZ: the Blue lagoon is beautiful. and there're many pleasant bars/restaurants along the beach and the main street. I especially liked a seafood restaurant called Captain Cook altough it's bit pricey. FETHIYE: loved it. the marina is beautiful and you can take a boat trip from there. the Centrum is very pleasant place to stroll. It's much more international than Oludeniz/Hisaronu. It's more real and traditional Turkish. The tuesday market is a must-visit as well, but don't book a tour if you stay in Oludeniz/Ovacik/Hisaronu... because Fethiye is not only about the market, you want to spend more time there. here're my tips for activities and tours: TURKISH BATH: Not impressed. maybe because I'm used to Korean bath which you get scrubbed real hard.. but it was worth trying. PARAGLIDING: it was my first time so it was remarkable but I was a bit pissed off with my pilot. if possible, KNOW YOUR PILOT BEFORE YOU FLY. because your experience really depends on the pilot. My bf had a fun guy and had a great time. His pilot had a video camera so took his video (for GBP20) and went really high up. While my pilot didn't say any single word during the flight and stayed in the air only 10 min ignoring my request to go up and stay longer in te air. Some other pilots had really nice camera with fish eye lens, taking great photos. I flew with EFTELYA but found the service really bad.. they charged photos from the land (really bad photos) for 15 pound which I didn't buy then they treated us nastily. another tip is to FLY DURING MID DAY.. when it's hot you can go higher and stay longer.. The standard price is 45 pound, and we paid 40 pound. don't pay over 45 pound. PAMUKKALE: It was fabulous. We took a tour with SEASIDE tour and extremely satisfied. especially the guide Atila is such a professional guy and great person and kept us entertained throughout the journey. Although I wished we were given more time to see Pamukkale rather than Onyx factory... DALYAN TRANSFER: we booked the trip with Jewel (for 36 pound per person, while most of other Dalyan trip cost 11 pound with local agencies) and I found Dalyan fabulous but Jewel disappointing due to many things didn't match with what we were told of.. Anyways, Dalyan is small but amazing place to visit,
Great holiday
from Petal678
We are a young couple just returned from Hotel Leytur. We stayed half board. It was a great holiday. Very quiet area which was fine as we got the Dolmus (bus) to either Fethiye, Hisaronu or Olu Deniz. Hisaronu is quite a tacky place, Fethiye seemed nice but we only went through and Olu Deniz is lovely. The hotel was clean and welcoming, especially the chefs and Jon (the barman). The rooms are basic and perhaps in need of modernisation but they have everything you need. Air con and safe are charged as extras. As in Greece, the Turkish drain system is not the best and tap water is not drinkable. The pool at the hotel is beautiful- the cleanest pool we have ever seen! Around the pool there are plenty of sun loungers and a nice bar area where you could buy snacks and drinks. The meals were good but quite similar every night. Breakfast was typical Turkish food- boiled eggs, bread, tomatoes, cucumber, olives and watermelon. Evening meal usually consisted of a homemade soup as a starter and then for the main it was meat and veg. There was a meze buffet too which you could eat as well.We had lunch in the hotel a couple of times and it was ok- a couple of sandwiches on the menu and pizza and chips. The drinks were quite expensive (we thought) for what they were, e.g. a spirit and mixer was 6YTL. There is a games area with a pool table, table tennis and table football. We were under the impression this was free until we picked up the tab on our last night, only to find we had been charged for playing! We were not told before that we had to pay to play nor were there any signs to inform us. The people at the hotel were mostly lovely, always helpful and friendly. We heard great reports about the owner but she did not speak to us really! The other people staying in the hotel were families and couples. The area itself is beautiful, huge mountains are the backdrop for the hotel and if you take the Dolmus down to Olu Deniz you can go to the gorgeous beach there. We visited the Blue Lagoon which is a National Park in Turkey, just down the road from Olu Deniz and it is spectacular. Unfortunately, it is also very busy, about 10 sun loungers deep around the edges and the water is packed with pedalos and people. The views more than make up for this though! We went on a few trips while we were there... our first was on our first day, a traditional Turkish bath. It was a memorable experience but good fun! We also went on a 12 island boat trip which was fantastic. Our final trip was a Jeep Safari. We weren't quite sure what to expect but had a brilliant time and laughed a lot! Overall, we had a great holiday, and came home feeling very relaxed.
A secret gem
from millersman
We have returned (all too soon) from a gem of a hotel that we are sure to visit again. From the first to the last day, nothing was too much trouble for Leyla, the owner, and her staff. The hotel is quite small but there is a good feeling about the place and it is only 2 minutes walk from the road, but it is that quiet you would think it is 2 miles from the road. It is spotless and clean, offers a great choice of food that is reasonably priced, tasty and always hot! It was the first time we had been to Turkey so we weren't sure what to expect but all I can say is GO there, try it for yourself, you won't be disappointed. Richard and Elaine from Rotherham
Fab hotel

The Leytur hotel, alhtough not the Ritz is very clean and the staff are very very helpful. I stayed in August for 7 nights and was very impressed considering we paid £11 pppn for HB. The food was very good, although don't expect A La Carte, but it was very tasty and the staff made a huge effort to ensure your stay was comfotable. This 3 stay hotel is very clean and the pool area is excellent and again very clean with enough sun beds for everyone. Located just outside overcik about 3 mins by mini bus and 5-10 mins to Hisaranou (70p), a very busy resort . The dolmus (minibus) runs every 5 mins up until midnight. The hotel also has a dart board, table tennis and snooker table. If you are looking for a quiet holiday away form the hussel and bussel of the nightlife, then this hotel is perfect.
Fantastic leytur
from lucy1350
We have just returned from the fantastic Hotel Leytur, ovacik, Oludeniz-Fethiye Turkey. This was our first trip to Turkey and it will certainly not be the last, upon our arrival we were greeted by a very warm and friendly Leyla, who runs/owns the hotel, the scene was set and we were not dissappionted, far from it, you walk through the well kept garden to turn a corner, where i can only say you feel as if you should pinch yourself as set before you is this charming Hotel, set in fantastic scenery, with green lush mountains behind you and every where you look you feel that you have found a secret jewell hidden from the world, The pool so blue like the sky, the sun so warm like the staff. We were not rushed, would you like a drink at the pool bar before we show you your room? We had a family room which was very clean and spacious, our boys are 12 and 14 so they are at an age of wanting privicy as well, the room was ideal as we had 2 seperate bedrooms both of a very good size, plenty of clean crisp white towels and that valuble air conditioning. during our stay the maids kept our rooms/linnen and towels clean and tidy, with the added bonus of wonderful surprises, each day we had either flowers arranged on our beds, our towels in fans or flowers left on the dressing table. Each day we awoke to sun, we would srtoll to a fresh breakfast, upon filling our stomaches we would then flop onto one of the ample sun beds surrounding this beautiful pool. our days were mainly spent lazing around this, but there are many many trips and outings pluss the wonderful beach which is only 10minutes away, the pool bar supplys you with great drinks, great snacks/meals all served by wonderful staff, you can have half board or you can just have bed and breakfast, either you will not be dissapointed, the resturant which has fantastic views, serves freshly cooked meals, nothing is too much trouble here, everything you eat drink and see is too that of a high standard. if you want to escape eat great food meet wonderful peopl then stay here. if you want to experience Turkey with the added bonus of getting a good nights sleep great food then stay here, basicly what ever you want from a hoilday the Hotel Leytur is the place to stay you will not be dissappionted. My eldest son said it all upon our return to england, " i feel part of me has been left behind" Turkey is magical, the people are Magical, our whole experience was magical but Leyla along with her Hotel, her staff made it so.
Great Base for Relaxation or Adventure
from stuartk2007
My girlfriend and I (both in our early twenties) were looking for a small hotel to use as a base in the Fethiye - Olu Deniz region where we could have total control over our holiday. The Leytur proved to both of these and we had a very enjoyable stay. There are 40 rooms which cater for families, couples or those travelling alone, all of which were present during our stay. Our room was basic but comfortable, the air-con kept it at a good temperature in the evenings. My girlfriend was particularly pleased that the bathroom was very well kept and immaculately clean. The water pressure and temperature were both excellent. The pool was a good size and clean and there were enough sunbeds for everyone though it annoyed me when people placed towels to "reserve" them before breakfast - something that should be outlawed! We ate at the hotel on two occasions (as we prefer to explore) and both were very good with large portions and choice. One of which was a designated turkish night and the food that night was amazing, a huge selection of turkish food was prepared in-house which was followed by a belly dancer which exceeded my expectations by far, she even got a couple of "wide boys" up to bust a move. The location of the hotel was very good. It sits about 50m from the main road between Olu Deniz (Beautiful Beach) and Fethiye (Large Town with Marina and Markets etc) Travel between these can be made by taxi or local minibus service called the Dolmus which is an adventure in itself but good value and very frequent. The bus stop for both directions is no more than 100m from the front door of the hotel As for what you can do when you get there, thats the best part!! For me, the hotel was perfectly suited. It was clean, with friendly, helpful staff. The bar was well stocked with cold local beers and the food was good. It is set far enough away from Hisaronu (think turkish blackpool strip) to remain quiet but close enough to go and party all night every night. One of the other guests had been 8 times and another family were re-booking before they left. If I went back to Turkey to that region I would definately also do the same.
Fantastic!

Our first experience of Turkey and of a last minute package holiday! The Leytur was superb, friendly welcome, clean, quiet and a great setting in the mountains meant a lovely cool breeze from time to time. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and Leyla makes you feel very much part of the Leytur 'family'. Our half board stay was great value with good food and plenty of it. Lunch time menu from the poolside bar was good too. Easy access via dolmus to Oludeniz beach, Hisaronu and Fetiyeh made this a good centre to stay. If you want a quiet relaxing break (which we did) then the Leytur won't disappoint. The number of repeat bookings speak for themselves and we're making plans for next year already!
The best holiday in Turkey
from sheila21
We have just returned from our second holiday at this hotel. The staff are very friendly and can not do enough to please, to make sure that not only do you enjoy staying with them but that you enjoy being in Turkey. This year my daughter and her partner joined us by surprise. We had raved on about it so much last year and ,at the end of their stay , we asked them what they thought. They said ' We are so glad that we came. We don't know what had put us off Turkey before but we will return. The food we had at the Turkish night in the hotel was the best meal of our holiday'. We were delighted that they had surprised us but more delighted that they had enjoyed it so much. Layla runs the hotel, her English is excellent and she sees to your every need. Her husband is a doctor so no need to have any concerns about health issues. The hotel is very comfortable , the pool is probably the cleanest in the world never mind Turkey! Layla is a chemist and she tests the water at least twice a day. The area has a lot to offer and is in easy access to see lots of interesting places. We can not get enough of it and have already booked for next year ,23days next time! If you have never been to Turkey you must try this hotel and experience what we have. Layla can arrange for you to try most things , horse ridding, scuba, Turkish baths, massage etc. For those of you who like to read on holiday there is a well stocked book case where you can leave your holiday reading when you've finished it. I took 6 books to read, and saw 4 leave the hotel on their way to Brighton. Book swop eat your heart out! Best wishes to all fellow travellers see you at Leytur. Pat and Sheila Manchester.
Really nice
from Purple1985
We got back from Leytur Hotel on Monday. We booked this last minute through the teletext - £480 for 1 week including breakfast and transfers! We thought this was a great deal but on arrival and talking to other guests we found out that they managed to get it cheaper through Travel Republic or booking direct with the owner. Upon arrival to the hotel we were somewhat shocked. We felt as if we were in the middle of nowhere with just a dirt track for a road! We were allocated a room which we discovered later that evening was not sound proof - so we were luckily able to move the following day to a quieter room on the other side of the hotel. We booked three trips through Chappa Travel which we would recommend - Fetiyia Market and Ghost town (£8 each), Turkish Bath (£10 each) and Gullet trip (£12 each) Also, go to the Turkish night at the hotel - it really is brilliant, we had so much fun and this gave us the opportunity to meet other guests which was great at the start of our holiday. We ate in the hotel another night and we found the food to be brilliant I had beef stroganoff and my fiancé had pepper steak. The breakfast is not that great. Bread, cheese, olives, meat, boiled egg, yogurt (not cold) and jams. Orange Juice was more like Orange Squash. Must nights we found ourselves getting on the bus to Hissournu for 3 YTL each way. One restaurant that we HIGHLY recommend is the piano bar which is right at the bottom of the strip to the right hand side near the Olive Tree- delicious food especially the pizzas. We would also buy our water at AZDA (the supermarket) as it was only 0.50 YTL instead of 2 YTL back at the Hotel. The pool was great in the day very peaceful and quiet - just what we wanted. Beware of other families that may be on holiday though especially during peak season. Half way through our week a noisy family arrived (group of 12) and it became loud and over crowded in the pool with inflatables!!! We went down into Olu Deniz one evening for food and to check out what the beach was like - we were told it gets very overcrowded in the summer with Turkish people on there holidays so we avoided this for the rest of our holiday. The beach does look very nice though. All in all fantastic - we were made to feel very welcome indeed by the owner, the bar staff are wonderful too. Would recommend if you just want a cheap getaway in the sun.
great

We had such a good time in leytur the staff are all very friendly and rooms are very clean with modern bathrooms, we met lots of people who we have stayed in contact with and the owners are very nice to. Possibly has the best pool in the ovacik area, its very clean and the whole pool area is very tidy. we had such a good time in june we returned back in september to spend a further 17 nights there........need i say more!
This is the second time we have been here and once again my Wife & I and the Boys have enjoyed the stay. It seems very strange that some people have not enjoyed their stay and have slated the Staff at Leytur Hotel. They must of expected the Ritz Hotel. The Staff are very... more
