GREAT HOLIDAY
from gordon3366
We have just returned from our stay at Sunny View & had a brilliant time{even though our flight operator XL went into liquidation during our holiday} We arrived at 4.45am & as we went into reception i was dubious ,there were still people outside bar & we joined them until 7am still being served & watched the sunrise over the mountains WOW what a sight. Next day we were asked about BBQ & explained that we had friends staying in town to which Goerge said they were weclome he even ran them back to town at 2am. If you were to see the businesses that have had to close you cannot blame them for being a bit pushy after all they have a living to make for them and their family. Yes the rooms are basic twin beds, fridge, sat TV,shower & basin and toilet what else do you need but was very clean, if you want luxary then don't go to Kos. The pool was the cleaniest & nicest I saw on the Island even a baby pool. The guests ranged from young to old & not being a very big hotel everyone talked to everyone & all were very friendly, very quite no loud music blasting out at you just background.. It is a fair way to walk to beach and to town the beaches are better the further you go and very quite. You will find at Sunny View people return every year. I have never stayed in such a friendly hotel and would definatly return. If you want a peaceful, relaxing holiday go to Sunny View our friends that we went with said that they would and they have been going to Kos for 7years
Not great
from Nomski
Upon arrival we went to our room to find it very small and smelling very bad of sewage! The bathroom was tiny and very tired looking and the terrible smell was coming from the toilet - which was not a great start to our holiday. The next day after walking back from the beach (20 min walk) we discovered a huge cockroach in our room - with two more dead ones under the bed! George the owner was very very very pushy about the weekly BBQ and did not seem to take no for an answer, we told him we would think about it as didn't want to commit and he kept hassling us to the point where he was phoning our room to get an answer. This was too much - when you are on holiday you don't expect this kind of pressure. In the end we did go to it, and to be fair the food was good and you got loads, but it was not worth all the hassle he gave us and i would not go again. The pool was nice and clean, but right next to the road with only a hedge separating it, the big trucks and coaches going past (although not too often) did spoil the setting. On several occassions we were not given our change from drinks & dinner - as George put it straight in the tip jar without asking! The breakfast was very poor, rolls with jam, cheese and ham - but on several mornings the rolls were stale - so we usually skipped breakfast and ate at the fantastic beach restaurant Atlantis (20 mins walk away). The hotel is a fair walk out of town but a taxi was only 5euro. I am not the sort of person to usually complain, but this establishment I found very poor overall and would not go back. I also had the same ink stained sheets for 3 days on my bed!
Great Hotel
from Yunnblevart
Sunny View was a great hotel, I had my doubts after reading some bad reviews online, but the hotel more than met my expectations. The location is lovely, it's out of Kardamena centre which means it's nice and quiet, that said it's only an easy 30 minute walk into town alongside the beach. The beach was only a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel and is much nicer and less crowded than the beaches in town. The pool is lovely and as the hotel is still pretty small it's uncrowded. The rooms have been recently renovated; there are new beds, bathrooms with good showers and even a TV and mini fridge (great for storing bottled water as it is more expensive to buy at the hotel than in Kardamena) The only downside of our stay was that we chose the half board option and were a little disappointed in the range of dishes available, there were 5 standard options each night (fish fingers, chicken nuggets, pork steak etc) and one Greek dish. Over a week we found the options a bit repetitive. If I were to return to Kardamena I would definitely return to Sunny View.
Great Hotel for a great restful experience

Jun 02 - Jun09 2007 Mike & Frances Selected this hotel from Thompson's Auction website, the prize was a choice by travel agent of 1 from 3, we landed the Sunny View Hotel. Its only 10mins by taxi from airport and if you don't have transfers it only costs 15 euros. George and his wife together with Francis make you feel at home and you can rely on the clean rooms to be able to sleep and wash when you want, Basic rooms they are with extras for the aircon and also 1 euro a day for the sunbed cushion'sto put on the pool beds. Pool is freshwater and clean and the poolside is right outside all the rooms so not far to walk to relax in he sun. Our board was B&B ( breakfast is basic - tea coffe rolls and jam with butter ) but for a few euros you can order full english every day, The walk into Khademna is along the beach and the stroll takes about 30mins - but its worth it each night to edge the appeitite and of course you can get taxis for 5 euros on the way back or again use your legs. A luvly setting and the hotel is warm with its friendliness - would go again and I would recommend for couples and families anytime, Oh and by he way its kept extremely quiet by the owners so its very good for sleeptime hours, Enjoy with open mind and you will be guarrenteed to have a nice holiday - of course you also need the weather, which is nearly a guarrentee on Kos,
Fantastic Family Hotel!!!
from FUZZYPOO
We booked our holiday with Thomson and arrived in Kos at about 4am which seems the norm there!!! The bar was still open and we were welcomed by George, Katerina & Francis. Our room was clean with a really nice view of the sea. We sunbathed by the pool most days as we found it relaxing and the food on offer was reasonable. Katerina's chicken sandwiches are amazing!!!! We attended George's BBQ both weeks we were there and again it was fantastic. The food was just wow and there was plenty of it. We didn't take part in the Kareoke but enjoyed watching those who did. We got a taxi into Kardamena every evening and it cost 5 euros each way. There is a bus stop right outside if you don't want to get a taxi. For those people who moan about bread rolls & jam for breakfast & no tv in the rooms...............if you want an all singing all dancing hotel with full english & sky sports then don't go to Greece or if you do, do some research about your hotel before you book it. The hotel is typically Greek and the family make the holiday even better with their kind hospitality. We will definately be returning.
Making friends family at Sunny View

I have visited Sunny View Hotel over 25 times during the past 11 years and I have never heard such rubbish as a pig farm close to the hotel. BBQ night is fantastic and great value for money. George and Katrina are exceedingly helpful and welcoming, not harassing at all! "Happy Hour" occurs twice in an evening and selected drinks are half price, perfect for lightening up on a warm summer evening. The holiday was extremely relaxing and the swimming pool was great. Rooms were tidied on a daily basis and sheets changed every two days. Overall, an amazing holiday that I would recommend to anyone.
Sunny View Kos

Like previous reviewers, scary when you arrive in the middle of the night as you seem to be in the middle of knowhere. Small family run hotel a five minute bus ride from town (Bus stop outside the hotel), plenty of sunbeds, nice pool, breakfast poor (roll and jam). Neares beach is 10 mins stroll, but not a great beach - seems best besch is in town. Perfect spot for a relaxing holiday, easy to get into Kardamena, and from Kardamena a regular bus to Kos town and other places. No TV in rooms, and sometimes music too lous around the pool, but they will turn it down. Final hint - if you dont want to upset George and his family, make sure you sign up for the weekly barbecue.
Fantastic Family Run Hotel in quiet location in Kardemena
from huggybecky
We loved this hotel so much we are going back later this year with our daughter. Yes, it does seem to be little out of the way, just off the main road OUT of Kardemena, the last hotel you will find on your right before you start getting to all those exclusive expensive resorts, but its only a 15 minute walk to the centre - either along the main road (watch out for the quad bikes!) or along the much more peaceful and scenic beach road. Very nice at any time of the day. No worries about safety walking back at night either, as most people are either heading to your hotel, or one of the ones a little closer. Anyway, enough babbling about the location. The hotel is a small family run hotel, run by George Katerina and Frances. We stayed a week when we went to Kos for a firends wedding last year. The hotel is very clean, with George taking extra care to ensure the flowers are kept watered, and trimmed, the pool is kept clean, and all the floors and walkways kept clean and tidy. Its a shining white hotel against the bright blue of the sky, with a fantastic backdrop of the mountains a few miles away. All the rooms we could see were facing the sea, and we had an excellent view of the sea from our balcony. The rooms were basically furnished and we paid the extra for the air conditioning (much needed in the heat). The room sleeps three easily (hence why we are going back) with a large wardrobe space, an area to store your (empty) suitcases and average sized clean bathrooms. The bathroom consists of a shower, toilet and sink, with excellent water pressure, and warm water in the mornings, and especially in the evenings after the days sun. The housekeeping staff kept them clean and dry every day, and tidied/changed the towels every day during our stay. The bedsheets were changed twice, but this was fine because with the aircon they didnt get filthy. The balcony had a table a chairs, and a great view. The hotel has a fabulous deep pool - complete with volleyball het - and it looks to be the cleanest in all of Kardemena. It has a small kiddies playground - but we didnt use that much obviously - a parking area for guests (off road, not tarmaced, ideal for the quad bikes), a bar/restaurant area complete with pool table and an outdoor seating area, oh and poolside loungers - where you can rent the pads for 1EUR a day (though I never saw anyone actually do that) But it was the welcome from George and his family that really makes the place. They have an excellent happy hour in the bar, and the breakfast, albeit basic with rolls and jam and cheese, is more than enough to put you on. Katerina is the unsung hero of the place with her fabulous snacks and homemade meals. Her greek salad, and saganaki was the best I tasted on the whole island. George - the ever present and ever friendly bar man took time to get to know you and made you feel welcome every time you walked through the bar. They have a big BBQ with Kareoke every Tuesday night for a small fee - and the food is great and plentiful, the beer flowing, and a great time was had by all. I cannot recommend this place enough.

septembers break
from A TripAdvisor Member
we were dropped what seemed like the middle of no where, but come the light of day it was just right far enough away from kos town to be quiet but excellent local bus service meant no problem. the rooms are basic but clean and have everything you need what the place lacks in facilities the family that run sunny wiew make up for in there warmth and freindly way with you but they not tollerate any messing about bad behaviour etc and miss nothing, i would recommend the place to any one who want a slower pace of break but be near enough to let your hair down if you like. ps francis one of the sons who runs the bar has never heard of "last orders"
