This is the worst hotel i have ever stayed in in my entire life, please please please listen to the bad reviews & believe them because they are all true. My Boyfriend and I had requested a SeaView room if one was available, when we checked in we had to pay the outstanding balance before we'd even seen the room which i thought was unusual as a normal hotel you may leave a deposit, then pay the rest when you checkout, I had already paid £53 when i booked over the telephone, however i paid the remaining £50 (as we were staying for two nights) and we went up to our room. We were in room 33 which was right at the very top of the hotel. We had to walk up approximately 6 flights of really steep stairs with our cases. When i opened the door i was mortified to see the smallest room i have ever seen in my life, the bed JUST fit in the room, with no room to walk around the bed at either side. The bed didnt even look clean, it had bits of fluf and what looked like string inside the covers, It was no way a double, it must have been a 3/4 bed as it was tiny and we didnt sleep at all, if 1 of us moved, the other nearly fell out of bed, it was awful. Doors were banging all night and it made our tiny room shatter. The curtains had stains all over and there was a tiny little box television with channels 1-4, our remote control had no batteries in (so much for satellite TV as it advertised on the website). My boyfriend had his laptop with him so he could access his work emails (again wifi was advertised on the website so we thought that would be great), there was no connection from this hotel at all, when we asked at reception we were told if we sat in the corner of the bar we might be able to connect to next door's internet, what an absolute joke. We were given 1 bath towel between two of us for two nights, i had to ask for another 1 at reception. On the evening we were going out and as it was pouring down with rain we asked reception to call us a taxi, they said it was on its way. We waited outside for 10minutes and no taxi came. We went back to reception and when we said the taxi has not came the receptionist just said 'Oh has it not? Well if you walk just round the corner there is a taxi rank'. Why on earth didnt he tell us that in the first place then we wouldnt have wasted time standing there waiting in the rain.
The breakfast was absolutely rediculas, we went downstairs at 9am and were told there were no tables left, so we had to sit in the bar and wait to be called in. There was glasses of orange juice on the table in dirty stained glasses which made me feel sick. The breakfast was cold and on tiny child size plates. This was the final straw and after just one night we had had enough. I went to reception and said we were really disappointed with the hotel and wished to depart a day eary so could we have a refund for the 2nd night we had paid for, Debra the owner said No you cant have a refund, what is the problem? I dont know how she even dared ask that. The whole hotel smells of an old peoples home and they still pride themselves on being 'Hotel of the year 2005' which is totally embarrasing considering it is now 2010. Its about time they took down those certificates and got some major work done and tidy the place up. I have a good mind to report this hotel to the blackpool tourist board.
It ruined everything for us and caused us to cut our trip short as we were disgusted and felt totally robbed. We have never been so pleased to be back home in our lovely clean house.

We have just arrived back after staying at the Crewes Original for 2 nights. We couldnt fault the hotel at all, our room was lovely and clean, the staff were very friendly, and very helpfull.
The hotel is situated in the perfect place, its central to everything. There was no hen or stag dos there which was great as we went as a family and have an 8 yr old.
We were really happy with our choice, and are hoping to return there again in October for the illuminations.

I booked this hotel for a one night stay with my husband (thank God it was one night only!).
Firstly I was charged an extra £3 administration charge as I had used a credit card to pay my deposit over the phone - none of this was mentioned at the time of booking.
Secondly although the room was an ok size the window over looked the next building so all we could see was a brick wall!!! Not as mentioned on the advertisment for the hotel - apparently we should have been more specific when booking!
I suppose it was my own fault for choosing this hotel over another. (Husband wanted Sky sports - as all guys do! - so he could watch his sports when we retire to the room after a day out at the beach). It wouldn't have been so bad if this was as advertised. The TV was tiny and there was no SKY sports - when complained at the reception was told 'sorry the lady who owns the place is not here at the moment all we can do is apologise'.
This was after it was adverised that all rooms were newly refurbished and had sky TV.
Staff could have been politer, even the women, who i think was the manager, had a face on.
Word of advice to any one anywhere with customers - without them you would have nothing so you need to learn to treat them right!
On a happier note room was en-suite, and breakfast was ok too.
But I didn't get value for money.
Won't be back in a rush on second thought would not go back EVER and would not recommend anyone to theis so called 'hotel of the year'

When i phoned to book a room we were told it was a sea view which we were delighted with. We checkd out the pictures via the website and the rooms looked great.
When we got there we found we had been put on the 3rd floor and it was a small pokey little room, never mind the amount of stairs you had to climb with all the bags and cases. If you walked into the toilet and tried to close the door you either hit off the sink, shower or toilet.
The bed was stuck on the corner if you sat on the bed and stood up you hit your head off the light stuck onto side of wall and if you stood up at the end you hit your head off of the tv.
It was not acceptable at all. We slept with a thin sheet during the night as the mattress topper had blood stains all over .
However we did not complain about this as we were only staying two nights and we werent really going to be in the room only at evenings.
Wouldnt recomend the hotel to anybody. We did not find it acceptable to have a room like that for the amount we payed.

We have stayed in this hotel twice. The first time, we had a nice room with a small table and chairs in the bay window overlooking the sea.
The second time we booked, we requested a sea view again. This time, we were given a room on the third floor. Although we could see the sea if we stood up, the room was so tiny, our knees were touching the walls if we sat on the bed. We complained to the management but were told we should have specified which room we wanted. We were offered a slightly bigger room on the back of the hotel but we declined as we were only staying for a long weekend, nevertheless, we still only stayed 2 nights as the climb up those three flights was awful.
I would recommend that anyone intending to stay here should find out how big the room is and which floor their room is on, especially if they are elderly.
On the plus side, the hotel was very clean, the staff were helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was very good.

This hotel was the best find I made at Blackpool. It is in the middle of the prom, so you can take a nice easy stroll either way to find what you like.
From the outside to the inside it was clean and tidy, the warm welcome and the relax atmosphere is what you need to unwind. There are no stag or hen parties, only couples and families.
We only stayed for two nights on a short break and could have stayed a little longer. This hotel is one I will recommend to all relatives and friends going to Blackpool.
Many thanks hope to return.

My wife and I have just returned to Northern Ireland from a very enjoyable stay at Crewes Original Hotel.
This hotel was more than adequate for a seaside holiday and we were made to feel very welcome by the lovely owner Debbie.
I cannot understand these fusspots who wrote bad reviews-- who do they think they are?
The room was large enough, the amenities were fine, the location is perfect and Debbie and the staff are lovely.
We would have no hesitation in returning to this hotel.
