Amsterdam is excellent! There is so much to do.
My partner and myself stayed at the Hemp Hotel, Fredricksplein. The hotel room was basic and clean, but had an Indian theme what made it original. We had to pay an extra fee to have a shower in our room but it was worth it.
The staff in the bar were so friendly and helpful, they made us feel so welcome. We received a complementary breakfast every morning of Coffee, Juice, freshly baked hemp muffins and rolls made at the local bakery each morning and Dutch cheese it was delicious and set us up for the day ahead.
The locals are also as equally friendly. Every body was so laid back and we never saw any trouble as you would expect for a city with legalized smoking and prostitution. I would recommend Amsterdam to anybody.

I have been to Amsterdam a number of times now and really like the city, so much to do and see.
The hotel was away from the hustle and bustle of the centre but just a tram ride away. Very basic but that gave it a lot of charm, our bed didn't have legs and was on the floor, but very comfy. The views over the park was nice, but we had to share a shower, as all the other rooms with showers was taken.
The staff were very friendly and I would recommend the hotel and the city for anybody.
