We found the apartments to be clean but facilities for cooking very poor. OK for just the two of us but for anyone with a family it would have been a nightmare. Only a two hob electric "portable" tabletop cooker, no oven, no microwave, no toaster. Don’t be fooled into... more

The apartments are of a high standard very clean and well equipped for self-catering although because food is first class and inexpensive in turkey we never cooked once during our stay. The appartments are only a short stroll from the sea and beach and numerous bars and... more

Will go back Kaptain Kemal
Enjoyed the holiday emensley wil go back stopped at the Kaptain Kemal apts staff spot on cannot do enough for you room ok for self catering but you will not stay in the room because the pool area at the apts is good and there is so much to do around turkey so many different restaurants and bars to choose from pleanty for the kis if over say 6 years in bars I.E pool. Millenium bar very good and helpful with the locals by giving advice on what to do. boat trip spot on waterworld spot on village trip ok but get ready for the big sell at the end.
Very Basic
Arrived @ hotel approx. 05.30am, reception right at the back of apartments by pool outside. Our app. was on the top floor, help was given with cases (thank goodness). Room was very basic, kitchen area not very clean, nor was the utensils or crockery. The first week we were there there was no hot water as there was very little sun; water at these apartments is only heated via solar panel, if someone gets to the water just after sunset then you maybe unlucky till the next day; asked for change of rooms, those shown appeared worse; therefore declined the offered change. Asked for the shower head to be fixed and the loo seat as the seat was broken and the shower holder was loose, these were done the same day. However the hairdryer did not work from day one also the toilet was not screwed to the floor, my requests (several of them regards these items) to have these attended to amounted to nothing being done. The beds are hard and some of the plastic chairs were in fact not fit to sit on due to the plastic seating being partly broken. Towels were only changed 3 times and not at all after the second Monday. The crazy paving outside was not too level and anybody with walking difficulties or those with a buggy for children would find it difficult. Pool seemed clean and well looked after though we did not use them. Area was not too bad though there was loud music until early morning. Gumbet is a bit like Clacton on sea but with a little more noise and the area is hilly and the kerbs are high compared to our own. May go again but not to these appartments. There were some lovely resturants around with some very good food and there was always a deal to be made over price or getting drinks for nothing ( though I think this was taken into account when they priced up their menus), overall we did have some good times during a two week stay. The Bodrum area is very nice and there is also a very quiet resort next door which is Bitez, this is not so commercialised and is ideal if you have young children and do not what to be pestered by them to go on all the water sports that are available in Gumbet. Overall Turkey is a lovely place to visit for whatever reason.........
Basic but great location
Kaptan Kemal appt is very basic. When we arrived I was very disappointed with the apartments. The kitchen area is very small and I would advise you to take a kettle with you as the one we had took 10 minutes to boil. We had two apartments and although we requested to have both apartments together we did not get this on arrival. Instead one of the appt we had was in another building as was so small and inconvenient especially with children. It did not even have a balcony or terrace. The other apartment was ok. After several request they changed the appt on the 4 day. The apartments varied as some people got really nice apartments were as others didn’t it really depends how lucky you were. I would not say the appt was clean as we had a few problems with the rooms not being cleaned properly. However the pool is very nice and the beach is only a few minutes walk away. To hire the air conditioning it cost £20 per week and for safe box £10 per week.Gumbet resort itself is great with loads of shops, bars and restaurants. Overall we had a great holiday. We went on many trips around turkey which was great.
nice app
We recently came back from a holiday in the resort of gumbet turkey, staying at the kaptain kemal app, when i first arrived i was put off by how basic it was but it had everything that a family of four required, (although some people there were moaning that there was no iron to hire!). The rooms were clean as was all of the surroundings,it also had a nice size pool, well maintained. The staff were so nice, friendly and helpful we couldn't have wanted more. It has easy access to bodrum and other attractions. We booked our trips with a company called crystal tours, their cheap and roberto does a great deal, a must do is a boat trip, bodrum has some lovely bays, with lunch included , visiting a few beaches and attractions, swimming in the sea , the kids loved it, all that for a ten pound! It has a beach about 5 minutes away, it was nice, clean with lots of resturants near by, be careful when going into the sea as the water hides a stoney floor.A great place to eat in Papa's right next to the app, tasty and cheap food and great people. The only thing i can say is the music from the bars is quite loud in the night, sometimes into the early morning, it wasn't to bad, but we all sleep like logs!!. good place to stay and a nice location, we had no complaints.
brilliant holiday
The Kaptan Kemal appartments are very clean. The guys who run these appatments are so friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. The pool was lovely and clean. No need to rush down with your towels at the crack of dawn like on my previous holidays. The barbeque night, with food cooked by Kemals Dad was brilliant. Highly recommended. Can't wait to go back again next year.
Best Holiday Ever
We have just spent two weeks at the Kaptan Kemal in Gumbet. Excellent holiday, staff are really friendly, espaecially Buri, he cooks wonderful fish. The Restaurant across the street, Uncle Festers, serves the best food in town. The staff are just as friendly. I would recommend these apartments and the town of Gumbet to everyone. Best Holiday ever.
Fantastic time
We have just come back from a week in Gumbet and wished we had gone for 2!! Me, my husband,mum,2 kids 5 & 7 and my 3 month old baby have had a wonderful time! We stayed in Kaptan Kemal apartments, the pool was lovely, very clean apartments but most of all the staff were great they would bend over backwards to please you! We ate out every night and highly reccomend "Uncle Festers" it's run by a lovely bloke called Steve from Hull and he does the best steak diane with a sauce to die for!! we went with Holidays 4 U and we had the best rep ever her name was Sharon and she would help you out with anything - especially when she recommended the Turkish Bath me and my husband went and it was brilliant- very invigorating to say the least!! A good tip is that you can spend any type of money aswell as turkish liera, sterling, the euro and US dollars are mostly accepted in the shops! Although the people are so very friendly and they absoloutley adore children, especially babies, you do get mithered a lot to go into the shops and this was slightly annoying! Overall it was a fabulous holiday and I hope this review helps you going to Turkey!
Kaptan Kemal, :) Great
I went with my partner in sep 2005, and the apartments were fantastic. The staff are all friendly and helpful, and they go out of there way to make you feel comfortable. Whilst there there was a huge storm which flooded our apartment completeley, meaning we had to leave in the middle of the night. The staff were very considerate and paid for another apartment whilst ours was cleaned. They even did all of our dry cleaning. These apartments are perfect and we will be going again this year.
