We have just returned from yet...

"We have just returned from yet another amazing stay at the Marianna. As ever the room was immaculate, the towels and sheets were replaced daily, and the service offered by the family running the business was fantastic. I cannot believe that they have only been awarded 2*'s. The bar area is clean, and Maria and Stella always treat their customers well. Not sure why some reviews state that there was no air conditioning, as we had icy cold AC in our room! Kos is a great holiday destination and caters well for all ages."

This has been the 6th time i have...

"This has been the 6th time i have been to marianna studio's, an would still carry on going.I have always felt the most welcome there and safest and the family who run it are the best. The comment's made previously really got to me, as in all the times ive been, ive never experienced this.Me knowing this family, know's that its slightly exagerated, there might have been some kind of conflict, but not as violent ! This could happen anywhere you go, proberbly alchohol influenced!

Maria [the mother] is a great lady, no holes barred ! mike is your typical big bro, speaks great english, reasures you and makes you feel safe. The situation is great, its tucked away nicely in the day, then not too far to travel for the night !

I absolutely love this place an have to go every year ! last year i took my children and it was great.

Me and my boyfriend have just got...

"Me and my boyfriend have just got home from our holiday here, and it was one of the best holidays we've ever had. The apartments were basic but clean so what more do you want. The actual hotel was brilliant, a nice small pool area where everyone is very friendly and you get to meet lots of poeple. Maria and her husband (the owners) were helpful and friendly, although he doesnt speak good english so it can be hard work! There's also Anna the barmaid who is very friendly and brings a great atmosphere to the hotel bar at night. The location of the hotel is perfect for couples, people on their own or small groups that just want to relax and have a quiet stay but is in easy reach of the town for going out at night. I would definitely recommend this hotel but probably not for large groups wanting a lively stay as the hotel is only quite small, and other reviews from groups arent so good; although we experienced no problems while we were there. 10 out of 10!!!!"

The Marianna is a lovely apartment...

"The Marianna is a lovely apartment complex. The rooms are spacious, if not air conditioned. You soon get used to this but fans are available for hire and next summer air conditioning will have been fitted. The pool is superb and Maria, her sister Stella and her parents are wonderful hosts. The room maids did a great job too.

The apartments were full for both weeks of our stay and we met some lovely people and had a thoroughly good time. The pool bar serves a wide choice of meals and drinks and Maria keeps the bar open til late every night.

I would definitely recommend the Marianna to anyone as the place to stay in Tingaki.

just returned from a very HOT stay at...

"just returned from a very HOT stay at the Marrianna.Although the place is relatively cheap ,and very clean, the lack of any form of air conditioning makes it a stifling place to stay.Dont book with First Choice. The rep doesnt seem to know or care who is staying there unless you are under 35 and want to spend your nights at the mascot bar.We suffered a 14 and a half hour delay from Manchester and it took us two days to find her. When we did she was useless and only seemed put out that we,d booked our excursions from Theokrittas Travel for half the price!Tigaki is a wonderful holiday destination and the tavernas on the strip are fabulous, especially the New Rodini. If you don't mind boiling to death stay at the Marrianna, otherwise pay a bit more use another tour operator and get yourselves some air con! We'll be back next year, but NOTat the Marrianna."

clean but needs air con

"stayed at the marrianna this week and it was HOT.The appartments are clean but very basic, and the lack of any form of air conditioning makes for a stifling stay.Cooking facilities very basic, not even a toaster, not recommended for anyone with small children or heat intolerance.Tigaki is beautiful though, and the Tavernas are fantastic and cheap with enough choice for everyone.I highly recommend The New Roddini just a block down from the Marrianna, where Alexandros and his father make the best food and cocktails in the whole of Greece. We were really sorry to say goodbye to them.Check out the Saggitarius where Manos will also ensure a great dining experience. Will definitely be back next year but not at the Marrianna.Word of warning DONTbuy the excursions from Jackie the First Choice rep,go down the road and get them at half the price,Theokritos and Tigaki Express are both good firms to go with"

Just returned from a 2 week break in...

"Just returned from a 2 week break in Tingaki, had a really good time, very relaxing and met some very nice people. Stayed at the hotel Marianna which was at the top of the main drag. Tingaki is quite a quiet resort which suits families or couples but not really for young groups (not much 'boom boom'!). Marianna was very clean and the pool was great for the kids, Stella who runs the snack bar was fantastic and worked hard from 9:00am to 7:00pm. The bar was well runn too and stayed open for as long as you wanted it to.

One place which comes recommended for a meal was the Two Friends, very friendly and very good food, always looked empty as you walk passed but well worth a visit - more of your traditional Greek food rather than the burger and chips invading the smaller islands. If you are a footie follower all the matches available can be viewed at the Rendes-Vous bar and if the match you want to see is not advertised then just ask and they will put it on one of the five tv's for you, they also show the soaps if you are interested in them!

The beach is great and the extra breeze really does help the intense heat of August, there are a few water sports such as banana boat, ringos and jet skis. Just off the beach is Micki's bar which is well worth a visit - very friendly people and if visiting in the evening Colin is good entertainment value!

We travelled with First Choice and the rep (Jackie) was the bet rep i've come across - really helpful and couldn't do enough for you.

If we were to go back to Kos would definitely look at staying at the Marianna in Tingaki again.

I Highly Recommend this lovely hotel...

"I Highly Recommend this lovely hotel in Malia. There is Maria the hotel owner who gives the hotel the lovely atmosphere it has and anna the excellent barmaid who is also extremely friendly. The Food is Lovely and is served efficiently by Anna. The chef chico is very talented and offers a wide range of dishes on his menu. I rate the food at about 10/10 - DELICIOUS. The cleaner visits daily and does an excellent job all around the hotel. it is well situated with two beaches, either side of it. For entertainment there is a pool, sunbeds , snooker table , Big sceen TV and an interactive games machine. The Rep visits and you can use this time to book excersions and find out about them. If you miss the rep though, you can talk to Maria who will provide plenty of information and can offer you help as to where things are. The rooms are very nice they have either a patio or a balcony with chairs and a table to provide extra comfort. Towels are provided aswel as thin sheets for the bed. there is a dressing table and two bedside tables. A shower is included in the room. altogether this hotel is absolutely fabulous ... don't believe me try it yourself !!"

Fantastic

"We have just stayed at the Marrianna studios on our honeymoon. It was a last minute deal so we were a little unsure of what were getting! We have to say that our stay was lovely. The rooms are basic but clean. The pool was very clean and the hotel itself friendly and family run. The food was also good at the hotel and well priced. We would recccomend staying here to anyone whether you are a family or a couple or any other combination as it caters for all."

Great value if you can pick up a bargain!

"My review will advise you on things I learned (but wish i'd known before I went) in Tingaki rather than just Marianna so if you have time to read I hope you find this helpful.

My girlfriend and I stayed at Marianna in July 08 and found the apartments to have everything we needed for our stay in a perfect little town.

The apartments are simply your average self catering studios with a basic hob, a kettle, a fridge and a sink. However if you come to Tigaki (sometimes listed Tingaki) and use anything other than the kettle you'll be wasting your time as between the apartments and the beach (800 yards), there are at least 25 fantastic tavernas that are extremely reasonbly priced so there really is no point cooking for yourselves. We skipped breakfast most days and just ate out for lunch and dinner so must have visited 10 of them and there's not a single taverna we wouldn't recommend!

As the beach was a short stroll away we headed there most days rather than sit around the rather crowded pool, and to be honest it was nice to catch a sea breeze! Sunbed hire there is 3 euros per day but the guys who rent them are very friendly and will make sure you have all the space you need.

When you are there we can strongly recommend a trip to watch the sunset at Zia and the 3 Island Tour from Kos Town. We made friends with another couple while at the hotel so if there are 4 of you then getting taxis to anf from Zia and doing your own thing is far better than the organised trips where you are very restricted with timescales! Do NOT book the trips with First Choice, they are a total rip off!

If you do do the 3 island tour (and please do just to see the tiny island of Pserimos which has just 100 inhabitants in the summer) and you like nice food you might want to do what we did in Kalymnos and just ask what time you need to be back at the boat, then just find somewhere nice to eat. If you stay with the group you'll be literally herded off into a Taverna well away from the main area where they serve about 200 of you in less than an hour! Trust us, just find a nice place for yourselves, you'll feel much better for it!

My final bit of advice, which I wish i'd thought of before my last day, is rather than buy chilled water down at the beach if you freeze a bottle overnight and take it with you it will stay cold all day, rather than about 20 mins that the chilled ones last for in that heat!

Having spent a week here its safe to say that there are better hotels and if you are paying full price, Mythos Apartments look much better for a couple of quid a night. If you simply want to have a relaxing break, see a few sights, spend some lazy days at the beach and eat well then go and explore Tingaki, and if you pick up a bargain ( we paid £240 p/w) Marianna Studios is a great place to stay.

worst holiday appartments ever. run...

"worst holiday appartments ever. run by local crooks who do their best to steal your stuff and rip you off. they had 3 of my friends arrested and put in jaikl for 3 days because the owners son assaulted my friend and when he retaliated the police came and had all of my mates in handcuffs beating us on the ground. the police stole my friends phone. seriously do not go to this appartment and be careful in malia if your going with a big group of lads because all we had a was trouble all week"
