Just got back from Kos and stayed in Sandys appartments, we had a brilliant family holiday infact the best so far.
Rooms were ok but we only slept there as we ate out every day, air con is charged at 40 euro a week we decided not to go with it at the beginning but would have it next time. Staff were all realy friendly and made us feel welcome, the food was also good at Sandys especially the waffles mmmmm.
It's about 10 mins walk to the nearest shops and eating out, and then Kos town is around 20-30 min walk but only 5 euro for a taxi.
Kos itself was a lovely place the people were so friendly, we went on a few day outings including bubble beach, a volcano and Bodrum. If you were to do this its alot more if you book through your rep, there are many boats offering good prices in Kos town you cant miss them, i got a day to the volcano and a day to Bodrum for 2 adults and 1 child for 70 euro which was realy good compared to rep prices.
Food was fantastic every were we went, and we ate at a few different places, prices seemed to be a little more with a sea view which is worth it to sit, watch and listen to the sea.
Beaches were nice but most of them pebble beaches, if you were to go into the sea wear sandles my little one got a sea urchin in his foot oouucchhh. But bubble beach was fantastic sandy beach very hot on the feet, had a lovely massage whilst sunbathing bliss!!!
With lots of walking wear confy shoes and take plasters, blisters galour haha
Overall Kos and Sandys were better than we expected, cant wait to visit again

Sandy's appartments is in the middle of nowhere. In the seering heat - there was a heatwave during our weeks stay - the "10 minute" walk to the beach was much longer, though no sand was apparent. The journey into Kos town took over 30minutes! The walk back from town at night was lovely along the sea front, but the final part up an unlit road was not so nice. - torch required!
The appartments were basic! 40 euros for air conditioning (which in the heat we were experiencing, should have come as standard). The cooking facilities were tiny - although to boil an egg it was adequate. All three beds in the two room appartments needed new matresses - the springs were totally shot!! We arrived wondering what we had booked for ourselves, by the end of the week we had a better appreciation for our accommodation, although would not return.
Kos itself was beautiful, it is unfortunate Sandy's was so far away from the centre.
We spent most of our days out of the appartment, although some people managed never to leave the very small complex. It is secluded, so if you are wishing to take a break away from everything and everyone, this is the place to stay.
It can be noisy at times - not from party goers returning after a night out, but from the chickens, cockerals, peacocks, peahens and dogs that reside next door!! They don't seem to care what time it is!
Our tip is to hire bikes and explore the area - also saves the long walk to and from the appartments. Even in the seering heat, the breeze generated from cycling was a blessing.
We had a good holiday, but that was mainly because we just laughed at what we had booked for ourselves!!

We went to Sandys 3 years ago not knowing what to expect other than traditional basic Greek self catering. We have now been back 4 times, and have just booked again for July! Sandys is perfect for couples of all ages, families, and those who dont want to spend their holiday in a nightclub till 6am, although this could easily be done as Sandys is only 20 mins stagger from Kos town centre and the infamouus 'Bar Street' This makes Sandys a great base for your holiday, and with loveley owners and great staff, you will also want to go back year after year!

What can I say Kos is one of the most beautiful resorts I have been to. The weather was fantastic and there was so much to do. Location wise Sandy’s is ideal if you enjoy walking or riding a bike; taking just 10 minutes on a push bike to the main town or about 20 mins walking all along the sea front which is nice. From town there is so many lovely things to do. You can explore the ruins and castle, eat fresh food at a range of different restaurants, take boating trips out (the 3 island tour, and a trip to Turkey are defiantly worth doing - just make sure you go down to the harbour to book instead of using the rep as they try to charge you almost double for everything), go shopping, laze on the beach or hop on a bus to one of the other resorts on the island: I would highly recommend a trip to Tingaki beach which was lovely, and taking a coach trip to Zia for a sunset meal (that was defiantly a highlight of the trip).
Right back to the apartments themselves, the room itself was liveable but by no means comfy. I am not entirely sure how they can class it as self catering as the equipment available is limited and poor (a camping stove would have done better), there was no cutting implements to chop or prepare food with, no scissors, bread knife, measuring jug or grater making simple tasks harder. The fridge was so loud that it kept me awake most of the night and it had a tendency to turn itself off when it pleased which was not helpful, although did allow me some sleep. The hobs had no markings on them so you could not tell which was a high and low setting, and what you would presume to be on high took 30 mins to boil a pan of water which had already boiled in the kettle 'useless'.
The food served at the restaurant at Sandy’s is nice and reasonably priced, which it would have to be due to the poor facilities.
If you are unfortunate enough to end up in one of the studio or apartments as apposed to the log cabins which I was told where lovely, you may find room limited and the shower facilities atrocious. The hot water for the shower and taps run off a solar panel system so if you get up before 12 and want a shower the water is cold and the same again after 6; and it gets even better if you have a shower at midday the water from both the hot and COLD tap comes out hot making it hard to stand under. My love of the bathrooms does not end here if you are unfortunate enough to end up in room 13 the shower room is a funny shape and so the shower tray does not fit into the room meaning that when you do have a shower the whole bathroom floods making the floor very slippy.
Overall I would say that is better to spend a little more on the apartment and stay somewhere a little nicer as I believe 3 star in Kos is more like 1 star here.
Having said that I will give full credit to the cleaner who came in everyday, was very friendly and did a good job. Unfortunately the same could not be said for the owner himself he was very rude if you told him anything was wrong he would resort to shouting at the female members of the group until the men told him to stop (not a pleasant experience at all).
The pool is adequate but could do with cleaning more regularly as there were always bugs floating around on the surface.
And as for the air conditioning again I would say pay a little more to stay somewhere that it is included in the price as we kept getting quoted different prices that seemed excessive for our stay (75 Euros for the fortnight) whereas you can buy a fan from the local supermarket for just 15 Euros.
Overall I would defiantly recommend visiting Kos and staying close to the town if you enjoy exploring but I would not recommend Sandy’s at all.

My husband and 2 friends stayed at Sandy's last September what a great week we had. The apartments were very clean and the staff were really nice.
As we wanted to do our own thing we did not bother with the rep. It was a pleasant walk to the beach and Kos Town which we done every day.
The food at Sandy's was really nice and reasonable and the service was excellent.
I would definently go again infact my daughter and boyfriend have booked up this September on our recommendation.

I spent two weeks at Sandys and I don't have a single negative word to say!
The rooms were always clean and the pool area was peaceful and tidy.
The staff were all great, especially Petros! Couldn't do enough for you!
The food is definately worth staying for, and is relatively cheap compared to the tavernas in town.
I see that someone has left a comment about the mad lady who was staying at the appartments. They obviously didn't stick around long enough to see how much the holiday rep had to put up with. (threats of violence being one of them!) I thought she was great, especially as she was new to the position. So don't let this put you off going!
I'm planning on going again this year and I'm looking forward to meeting some of the great friends I made there during my stay.

Just returned from fantastic 10 days holiday at Sandy's Apartments. Read the reviews prior to our holiday and was sceptical about the high scores and good reports, but on arrival found them to be correct. Very high standard for a 3 star resort. Accomodation clean and comfortable, with sheets and towels changed regularly. Located in Olive grove just out of town so approx 30 min walk to Kos Town, but we found the best place to eat was at Sandys as the food is all homemade and far better quality than the other tavernas in town and very reasonably priced (5 adults meals + drinks cost approx 70 euros a night), in fact we only ate out twice in 10 days. A big thankyou from all 5 of us to Petros who runs the bar and serves the tables for his contribution to make this such a great holiday, and also the rest of the staff. Looking forward to going back again soon.

Sandy's appartments were really very pleasant to stay in, and were located in an ideal location for us personally. Only about a 15 minute walk down to the local sea front, (despite that the brochures say 10) and a 30 minute walk into the capital city - Kos Town depending on how fast you walk!
The appartments themselves are very clean and well kept, with cleaners coming daily. We loved the fact that we had our own personal balcony which was wonderful to sit out on at any time of day. The bar staff were very friendly, especially Pedros who seemed very cheery! The pool was also very well maintained, with plenty of sun-loungers around it for everyone.
Overall it was a wonderful holiday, and as we only went for a week it would have been wonderful to have an extra week there as one just didn't seem enough! Would deffinately stay there again.

Having booked a last minute holiday we only stayed for four nights at this accomodation. Very clean and highly recommended if you want somewhere quiet and there are always sunbeds available.
Pool area nice and clean and the food in the taverna is by far the best we had all the time we were there,
We arrived at 6 in the morning and managed to find someone who then told us our room number. The studios are basic, but then again what more do you want.. They were cleaned every day and whilst the shower curtain attacked you when you had a shower, having a balcony to sit out on at night was lovely. The bar staff very friendly and helpful and somehow always managed to remember what you were drinking the night before.
Prices for the taverna are not too bad.. Breakfast which was 6.50 euros, fresh juice, cofee, toast, sausage, bacon, beans, egg and more toast..
Would recommend this place to anyone who wants somewhere peaceful and quiet and not full of the here we go crowd.

Appartments were clean and well maintained, with staff from Sandys very helpful, and would probably do better if they were to distance themselves from Olympic.
The Olympic rep. admitted that it was her first year as a rep., having previously worked on airlines. (Not too reassuring when you commence an association with excuses!!)
The information she did give us was less than accurate, and in some cases total fiction.
One of the appartments next to ours was occupied by a single woman who had obvious mental health issues, but was harmless enough. I suspect that a more sympathetic view of her problems might have been more helpful than the urine extraction she suffered at the hands of the Olympic rep., the Activities Co-ordinator, and the little cohort they managed to gather together.
Subsequently we spent most of our stay away from Sandys, electing to spend time with folk who don't promote a "burn the witch" mentality.
On a positive note, when you get into Kos town it's well worth trying the different tavernas on offer. but avoid the Mexican Restaurant El Passo. Why in Gods name go to the Greek Islands to eat Mexican food ??
Organise your own trips out, EG Turkey or neighbouring Islands by just booking at the harbour. (Very expensive through Olympic)
Use Public transport, it runs on time, but not too late at night.
Finally try the Cheers Bar, it's run by a Greek/Aussie bloke who was far more useful than the Rep. we were lumbered with. Above all HAVE FUN !!!!

Just got back from a fantastic stay at Sandy's.
Everything about the complex is wonderful - not too loud, not too quiet. We stayed in the log cabins which were fantastic. There were a couple of people around the pool who commented that the studios were very basic, but clean and tidy. We paid the same price for the cabins as some paid for the studios - so be careful when booking!!
The complex is approximately a twenty minute walk to the seafront, and then a further 25 minutes into Kos town. The initial walk to the seafront was ok during the day and early evening, but was not lit in parts and so was quite scary when it got dark - I was with my husband, but don't think it would be wise for a group of girls to walk on their own. A taxi was only 6 euros from the complex to Kos town, so was well worth it.
The complex has its own restaurant on site, which unfortunately we did not try until the last night. I say unfortunate because it was one of the best meals we had eaten all holiday!! So, make sure you give it a try!!
The log cabins are provided with kettle, pots and pans and two rings but no toaster which would have been nice. Other than that, I can't fault them. The shower was so powerful it nearly blew me away!!
After reading some negative reviews, I was a little apprehensive about visiting this complex, but I would now have no hesitation to go again - in fact, we are booking for next year!!
