This small reasonable budget hotel is an utter tranquil gem away from the hustle of hectic Venice.
We arrived at the hotel a little earlier, although our room was not ready the staff offered us drinks and snacks and took our bags to a safe place while we went off to explore.
The location was ideal. Five minutes walk from the train station but far enough to enter heaven! The Jewish district is often overlooked but it is the ideal base, less touristy then the usual recommendations, great places to eat and often at more reasonable prices. There is a water bus stop outside the hotel which can even take you direct to the small islands.
On our return we were shown to our wonderful Zen style room, it took us a while to notice the complementary wine and kind note they had left us as we were amazed at the pure ambience of our surroundings. Modern art gazed the walls which was painted by a staff member of the hotel. The flat screen television, a safe large enough for my laptop and a mini bar with more complementary water and soft drinks were a bonus we were not expecting.
The whole room could not be faulted, apart from being spotless the design was far away from the usual pink floral gold design you expect to find in this city.
The staff were not intrusive, but extremely friendly and explained all we needed to know. During our whole stay we did not want to be anywhere else.
I suppose I should be keeping this a secret but our room, number 207 had its own private courtyard. The only one in the hotel. We would bring breakfast to our own courtyard in the morning and enjoy the peace and sunshine and later return to the hotel and have a tipple there.
Breakfast was fab! Boiled eggs, ham, cheeses, pastries, cereals, toast, cakes, juices, teas, coffees - more than enough to set you up for the day.
For those who have visited Venice, will know, what a gift this gave our holiday experience.
Apart from the numerous pizza places. Next door to the hotel is a lovely restaurant called Gam Gam, this serves only Jewish food which is nothing but a delight and if you stay here you must have lunch one day, the staff are also wonderful and speak great English for those of you that struggle with the language like me!
An internet cafe is also around the corner and round the next a supermarket. Oh and I wont forget to mention the English/Irish pubs which are a few streets away, for when you need a real pint! Devils forest was our favourite (we watched the football there). It comes with its own red telephone box!
